Good morning!
Do you use the “show up” method when you are stuck in an area of your life that you’ve been working on?
Once it is determined that some change needs to be made, or once there is an awareness that hey, I’ve been wanting to make this change for a while, what causes you to not make that step or change?
For me, it is often the gargantuan prospect of what that would look like if I truly started to do it. I might have an ideal version of what that thing I want looks like but it almost feels insurmountable.
I was thinking of that while I was at the gym today as I climbed the stair machine. I remember years ago when I was more conditioned to climb that thing than I am at the moment and there was a fleeting thought I had about eh, maybe this isn’t for me. But that’s because I know someone who does an hour on it and that seems insurmountable right now. However, I can do 10 minutes. And tomorrow I bet I can do 11 minutes. And so on. Simply showing up makes all the difference.
This really applies to virtually any area of life that you know you want to change. The showing up method gets you to take the step forward that is needed to move you.
Rome wasn’t built in a day! And most of us understand that success doesn’t happen to anyone overnight. It is one step at a time. We just often get stuck before the first step or we “feel” like it isn’t enough. But over time, the repetitive steps add up and so just showing up can be the seed needed to be sown to reap a harvest later,
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3
Reflect: Where in my life do I need to just show up regularly?
