While the "rings" might be a cryptic reference to something, it may also be a reference to the rings in Il'gynoth's tree. In that case, nature (or corrupted nature) foretold our coming. The Circle/Cycle language might also include the "Time is a flat circle" achievement, which would include both Khadgar and Gul'Dan.
