Watching Blizzard: The attack of an all-new week

Another week is upon us and that means it's once again time for us to round up the latest news from the Blizzard universe. So what happened on this fine Monday? (Or not so fine Monday, depending on your point of view.)

But whether it's the best day of the week or the worst day of the week, let's run down the news.

Death Knights and Allied Races

• The official answer on whether Allied Races can be Death Knights is no. But the interesting story of the Death Knights in Legion suggests some interesting possibilities.

Last week in Overwatch League... 

• First, Anna makes a terrible pun in this week's OWL wrap-up post and it is just not okay. Wait. Did I just copy her joke in the header image? Dang. There is just no escaping a Mei pun.
• Second, the Shanghai Dragons took two maps off Philly this weekend, and even though they lost the tiebreaker map, that's a big success for a team that has literally never managed to take two maps in a match.
• This is the last week of stage 3, and matches kick off again on Wednesday. The stage wraps up with title matches on Sunday.

And speaking of Overwatch...

• Symmetra is seeing some changes with a major rework that will turn her into a Defense hero.

Heroes of the Storm, now with more story

• The Heroes team is working on giving the game's zany setting a real story, starting with the Rise of the Raven Lord comic.
• The story doesn't do much to impress so far, as it's mostly exposition, but maybe a game that's had so little story so far has to start out with an exposition dump like this. We'll see how it goes.

Mitch takes a look at Shadow Priests in the beta

• And he isn't particularly happy about it.
• As a behind the scenes look at our editorial process, after I scheduled this post, Mitch and I had the following conversation:
  • Me: It's scheduled for a half hour out so I assume Blizzard will release a beta patch that deletes Voidform by then.
  • Mitch: They just released a build so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In short, I'm pretty sure Blizzard is spying on us. They've never admitted to it, but I've noticed a pattern.

Anyway, that's all the news we have for now. There's always room news deluge tomorrow, and since I'm thinking about putting together a post on the state of Mistweaver Monks, my guess is that there could be another beta patch, too.
