I wouldn't read too much into similarities between alien worlds from Argus Invasions and Shadowlands zones, which are not exactly extra-azerothian, but still _alien_, unfamiliar. Design-wise, there certainly were influences between the level designers, and/or the same 1-3 people designed, say, Bonich and Ardenweald. You could also see the Invasion worlds as test cases for alien landscapes. But lore-wise, I doubt there's any relation.
