Checking in and Thanks

Just wanted to drop our patrons a note of thanks and some explanation on why content has been a bit slow the last few days.

First of all, thank you all so much for supporting SIFTD. This change in revenue models was a scary one for us, but honestly, it's gone even better than we expected. Your response to our content and our posts has been amazing and it's been great for new folks to experience what we've been working on since the site launched.

We have a rework of GameFace coming up in the very near future. It's still going to be an opinion show/podcast, but we need to integrate a lot of the Patreon stuff into it much more seamlessly and we also want to get you closer to the games we're covering. So look out for incoming changes to our flagship show.

I also wanted to mention why there was no episode last week and content output has slowed over the last several days. Last week one of my closest friends (and one of the groomsmen in my wedding) died suddenly of a massive heart attack. He was just 43 years old and left behind a wife (who is also one of my closest friends) and two sons. I had to travel back to Philadelphia for the funeral and following services and was unable to work on content for you guys.

It's been really tough as my friend and I went through some hard times together in the past as this is just one of many tragedies I've had the misfortune of enduring. I had to go. We've lost patrons and monthly pledges have declined as a result, but some things are far more important in life than money. He was a ride-or-die and I couldn't live with myself if I weren't there to support his family. Honestly, I needed their support as well.

I realize that some of you folks just want content and that my personal issues aren't of much concern, but I feel like I at least owed you all an explanation. And I appreciate very much those of you who have been patient over the last week. The good news is we're working with code right now for Assassin's Creed Origins, Wolfenstein II, Super Mario Odyssey, and many others. So the content and coverage is about to kick into high gear.

Thanks again for your support. It means so much.

Shane

Its fine Shane!

Rough news Shane. That is really young which makes it even more tragic. I'm sure your friend and their small kids appreciate the kindness shown. Keep well

Wesley

Shane you have suffered more tragedy recently that anyone should have to go though in a life time - how you’ve stayed strong is a true inspiration.

Wow. I am really sorry to hear about your friend. My cousin (who was more like a sister) died three years ago this week. I'm still finding it hard to deal with, but a little easier each year.

I'm one of those who will stick here and support SIFTD no matter what Shane - you absolutely had to take time off for a situation like this. So sorry about your buddy, hopefully life will give you a break soon.

Sorry to hear that Shane. I'll increase my pledge to make up for the lost patrons.

Shane man... My fucking heart goes out to you brother (and I rarely use that term). You've experienced way more tragedy since starting SIFTD than any one man should. We're all here for you! Here's to the success that will one day be! **chugs a PBR**

Hope everything works out. Take your time with the content, something's are more important

Deepest condolences. We are here for you, as well as with you. All the best to you and his family.

Thank you for delivering the best gaming related content.

Sorry to hear about your friend, you’ve had a rough go of it in the past couple years. You did the right thing by putting the site on pause though, you won’t lose my pledge for making that call.

Sorry about how much you've endured lately fella. You've been working so hard all year your more than entitled to more than a week off. Just sad it had to be under such terrible circumstances. Keep fighting to good fight we call life! :)

Stay strong

I never ever ever write posts on anything, but after reading this post I feel compelled. I am a paying person because I believe in the service you are trying to produce. If you lost subscriptions I feel sorry for the short sided view of those. I'm glad you left, life is important. At the end of the day we are all here for you and hope you will continue to improve and be able to create new and interesting content. Thank-you for everything you do, I really enjoy it.

Sad... :( Sympathies...

Wow Shane really sorry for your loss. Don’t worry about the content delay. Personal time during times of loss is very important. Side note looking forward to the new gameface. I really enjoy that show.
