Pachter Factor Questions November 2018

will the PS5 be backwards compatibility

Hello! How do Black Friday sales impact publishers directly? Does a store just discount a game to what they paid for it, giving the publishers the same amount they would have received if the game sold for full price? Or do both the store and retailer agree in advance to a lower profit in the hopes of moving product?

Hi mr. Pachter why dont publishers take advantage of the slow times(months)when releasing games. Time and a again evidence has shown when u have no compatition u can make lots of money for a long period of time versus big money on release and then get lost by the other big releases. Also is February turning in to the next big releases month. Side note as asked my family why we spell my last name the way we do. I was told the hospital in Mexico messed up on my grandpa's name and it was to much of a hassle to fix.plus cost to much money.

Hello Mr. Pachter, Does “voting with your wallet” always work, in-regards of affecting change to how companies function in the games industry? I ask, as it feels like with the shift to digital-distribution, as-well-as more & more companies taking up “games-as-a-service” as the revenue model for their products, wouldn’t this shield companies from any financial hit they’d take from either a non-purchase, or a late-purchase of their game?

Hey Pach, At this point, and assuming no price drops, how many Switches do you project Nintendo will sell this fiscal year?

Telltale, what the hell?

Hey Pach. I tend to buy games during the Steam sales and mostly purchase games that have a 75% or more discount applied. I'm not the only one like this and want to know if consumers like me harm or help the industry or if we barely 'Factor' into the overall financials. I have over 200 games on Steam alone but rarely see the need to purchase games on release day outside of the Rockstar franchises for my console.

Hey Pach You've talked about in the past how you believe the PC will become another place to play Xbox and PlayStation titles beyond what's currently offered by Xbox Play Anywhere and PlayStation Now. With recent announcements of streaming game services does this change your prediction at all regarding the future of the PC as a console gaming platform?

Dear Mr Pachter, Activision is working on a separate mobile version of Call of Duty in contrast to Fortnite which is truely cross platform. Do you see any specific benefits or drawbacks to the separate mobile approaches?

I wasn’t prepared last time so I’m writing down multiple this time in hopes you like 1 of them. 1. Before they shut down, Telltale was working on a Stranger Things game and Minecraft for Netflix. Also, it’s been announced that an upcoming episode of Black Mirror will have interactive choices. Do you think Netflix is testing the waters to launch gaming on their platform? If so, how likely do you think it is that they hire some of the Telltale talent for this? 2. Are tariffs going to hurt the pricing for the next-generation of consoles? 3. Call of Duty announced that Black Ops 4 broke digital sales records but I noticed this was not franchise records in terms of overall sales. How does the future of the franchise look to you? Has Call of Duty already reached its peak?
