Pre-E3 Pachter Factor Questions!

Dear Pach, In light of the Wal-Mart Canada leak of multiple allegedly upcoming games, what controls are in place to ensure retailers do not leak information? Do publishers make retailers sign some type of NDA? I cannot imagine the consequences are too steep for the retailer, considering a story like this pops up every few months, and it is often a non-US version of a retailer (i.e. Amazon France).

As gamers and fans watching from afar, E3 is always exciting and look forward to the coverage that the Media bring, and I appreciate all they do to make it available to us. Dear Pach, given EA's somewhat questionable success using the Star Wars license and an apparent lack of big AAA Marvel or Disney titles on the market right now (Spiderman, Kingdom Hearts and Lego Marvel not withstanding), how likely is it that Disney may try to restart their internal game development arm again? And if not, do you think a blanket license for their many IPs makes sense?

Dear Patch, been a long time fan from the gametrailers days (i also support your other gametrailers brothers easyallies) as e3 is coming here are a few things i have for you: 1. microsoft - since a lot of there 1st party games have been less than stellar what do they need bring out/do to get the fans back on there side. as for peripherals do you see them releasing a economy version of the HoloLens or teaming up with one of the virtual reality head sets sets. Sony - what will they announce this year a new twisted metal, PaRappa the Rapper, killzone, resistance, infamous or new battle royale as for new announcements do you see them releasing vita/switch type system since thats what hot now.

Dear Pach. Do Game of E3 Awards benefit devs or publishers when it comes to release? With some games being many months or years away from release does winning a “best playable game slice” translate into sales? Do devs ever get a bonus for winning E3 awards in the same way as Metacritic scores? Or is it just a good thing for advertising to slap a Best Of E3 Winner on a TV spot, trailer etc?

dear Pach. You get fed up with E3 and decided to pull an EA and split to launch PachCon! Where would you hold it, who would you invite, would it be open to the public and, most importantly, what would your key note be about?

Hey Pach. With the Belgium, Norwegian and Netherlands Gaming Commissions all saying that some or all forms of Loot Boxes are gambling do you think the issue will be addressed in a press conference , quietly alluded to in interviews or totally ignored by the major publishers. What do you think EA might do as they were FIFA was specifically mentioned as one of the worst examples?

Hey Pach. If enough governments ban loot crates to make the loot crate sales model unviable what method do you think publishers will switch to in order to keep their games as profitable as possible?

Valve seems to never respond to any questions regarding changes they make or how anything on Steam works. The latest change in privacy settings for games you own effected SteamSpy for example, but Valve doesn’t even respond to any questions regarding the matter. Why do they have such a silent policy?

With information trickling out about the upcoming new Atari box, can you make any sense of who this box is for and what the long term plan might be for Atari. Do you see this as a possible lower tier Steam box, since it is reportedly running Linux? . As a stand alone retro box, it seems destined to fail.

What is your opinion on government subsidies to entice game companies to set up shop in their city? Is it really worth it for the city? If cities are out bidding each other with bigger subsidies, how will the governments ever stop needing to offer subsidies to keep the industry going in their city?

Do you see a future for VR in videogames or it will be another Kinnect/PS Move/Wii thing? Seems like the whole thing is just forgotten and nothing is happening in this sector.
