We're ready for a new round of Ask Shane Anything! The title says it all, though try not to get too personal. Remember E3 is coming up so the show is fair game!

Ask Shane Anything Questions May 2019

Hey Shane, I recently discovered that my favorite genre of games is "the immersive sim" (Deus Ex, Bioshock, Dishonored, etc), which is one of the most underappreciated genres with regards to game design, in my opinion. How do you feel about immersive sims, and do you have a favorite? Given the recent commercial failures (Prey, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided), do you think this is a dying genre?

Hey Shane. Is there a game series or sub genre you miss. I recently got a bit nostalgic and started thinking about Speedball 2 and how much fun I head with that game. With the ice hockey game coming out on switch that kind of the same niche are you looking forward to it or is there something else you would want to bring back or reinvent. Cheers McWomble

with both system talking about backwards capability how important is it to you? to me it means alot. it helps save games from just being forgotten about. while xbox is going back to its original system ps5 will only go back to ps4. i find that wrong. i have so many games on ps3 i bought digitally that i can only play on ps3 only. i also bought digital versions of ps2 and ps1 on the ps3 that i can only play on ps3. i want to be able to play these on the ps5 or aleast some. i know the ps3 games are almost impossible to do with but ps2 and 1s we should be able to. i would pay more money to sony for a system that was able to play these for more money like the original ps3. what i mean when it came out it was 600 bucks cause it was a ps2 and a ps3 in one system. if they can do that sony take my cash.

Hey Shane! You don't talk too much about your wife, and I know she's not a big fan of being on camera and whatnot, but I'd love to know more about her. Can you share some things about her that she wouldn't mind us knowing? Such as her name, what she does for a living, etc. Keep up the great work!

In the original Ghost Recon Wildlands, you could play the whole game on your own with the rest of your squad as AI that you give orders to. According to reports from Game Informer and IGN, in the sequel: Breakpoint, this is no longer the case. If you play solo, you have no squad AI and you can’t access endgame raids that have been added. As someone who loved the original, this completely soured my opinion of the sequel. My question is: why are more recent games forcing you to play coop to see all that it has to offer?

I know it's a tricky balance for you to keep the site running vs taking time off. Are you planning any big trips for this year or next? What i do is, i request almost a year in advance so it would be incredibly unreasonable for my boss to say no. If you did have a week or 2 off, would you even be able to turn off your sift'd work hat to enjoy it?
