Good afternoon, Blackbirds!

Last year I had a really fun time inviting my followers to vote on lore for these recurring figures of the MBPS canon, Aubrey & Jules. I realized I didn’t compile any of that information publicly, so soon I’d like to collect the things we decided into a post for you here on Patreon. :)

Over the next week or so, I'd like to play a game with you to collaboratively create a new character!

Having recurring faces in the MBPS has been a lot of fun for me, and I’ve appreciated that it’s enjoyed by you Blackbirds as well. Generally speaking, my little fantasy world has been very private. Hemlock, for example, surfaced into my artwork as a fluke early on, assuming no one would care for him in particular. I was dreadfully wrong, and though I’ve continued making art that features him, I’ve stayed private about his original “lore”.

Aubrey & Jules, by contrast, were made specifically as a collaborative project with you Blackbirds. I wanted to create familiar faces that I could share with you, and that you could share in creating. I came up with their basic concept, and then I invited you all to vote on lore and details. This was a ton of fun for me, I adored the collaborative aspect, and I was eager to go at it again.

Here, I want to go all the way from the ground up as a collaboratively created character for the Edwardian-inspired fantasy that we live in here at the MBPS. I hope you’ll join me over the next week or so in casting votes on Instagram and making suggestions here on Patreon!
