Also the reason why it seems like this season has just been standard fantasy stuff is because they changed the story in pretty massive ways in order to accommodate a new audience.

2024-11-22 17:33:44 +0000 UTCI dunno, I go back and forth on this season. Like trying to humanize Ripley could have been a cool thing if they'd done anything with it. But they tried to give her a sad backstory then immediately shot her in the throat with no real exploration of that. Also an entire episode dedicated to Keyleth casting a single spell seemed like wasted animation time when we have already seen multiple ways of magically seeing across far distances depicted in the animated series that don't involve risking your life so as a viewer I'm just thinking, "Why not use one of those?" I don't know; it was cool for what it was, I guess. But seeing what they sacrificed in the story to make all of this stuff happen was just not worth it.
