mini-mix: Cindy Lee
Added 2020-03-24 16:15:14 +0000 UTCPat Flegel is currently making a mix for our Sunday artist mix series, so we thought we'd shine a light on Pat's current project Cindy Lee, as well as previous projects Women and Androgynous Mind. In my opinion, Women was the most interesting guitar band of the 2010s, and strains of the group's experimental pop -- dissonant noise juxtaposed with glorious guitar tones and gorgeous melodies -- form an unlikely but otherworldly union with vintage girl-group sounds to make up the Cindy Lee universe. It's really a perfect distillation of many of my favorite musical things, and hopefully this playlist reflects that (if you'd like it distilled even further, just check out "Dry Dive", which is an unreal song). Cat O' Nine Tails, Cindy Lee's second amazing full-length of 2020, isn't officially out yet, so it's not represented here, but Pat will send you the digital version now if you buy it here.
