Now! On to other stuff!
First of all, I've already mentioned this to the incremental subscribers, but I did wanna go ahead and tell everyone. I really tried to make that "eight hours a day" thing work, but it's just not feasible to treat something like creative writing like an office job. The most I was able to manage at a stretch one day was seven hours, and by the end of it my brain was complete mush and I was fried. I am still holding myself to doing a lot more writing than I was, but it's more about setting realistic goals about getting something done every day and not just blowing things off. So I am still writing way more seriously than I was before hitting the goal, just not specifically timing myself (and thereby stressing myself and accelerating burnout at an insane pace).
Second, last month we had a poll, and you guys said your top priority was art for the characters. It took awhile, but I found an artist with the style that I thought was fitting and available. I've already talked to them and I'm on the list, now it's just a matter of it actually getting drawn. I don't want to pressure or rush them, but I will keep on it, and it will be posted as soon as it's done.
Third, I finally completed that side bit of writing I was doing as an extra reward. The Dating Game is a story of four gamers who go about getting girlfriends in a rather unusual way and (of course) it backfires on them. Gender swap ahoy! It will be available to incremental subscribers during October, and become automatically available to everyone on November first. (A sequel, The Dating Game - Rematch, is in the works and already longer than the original. It takes a look at what happens in the aftermath of transformation situations like the first one contains... and then, of course, has more transformation situations!)
Fourth, this last week I've begun work on a novel. I guess a light novel might be a more apt description, and it is in fact an isekai novel! Don't worry, I don't intend to abandon Devious World to work on this. But I find as an author that over time, my desire to work on something with a consistent narrative that I intend to have an eventual concrete beginning, middle, and end grows. It will have a lot of the same fun stuff that Devious World has in it, just that this time as a more standard prose work it gives me a bit more license to play around. I'll be providing excerpts of the work in progress to incremental subscribers, and as it gets closer to completion I'll be considering how best to distribute it when it's done. (Incremental subscribers will definitely be getting it released right to them.)
Tentatively titled "Dungeon Mistress", the novel follows a young woman named Sienna as she's reborn into a new world that operates like an RPG video game. The problem? Sienna's a filthy casual, and knows she won't be able to pull off the hax rules lawyering other protagonists in her situation have done. She is, however, good at management sims and building games, and thus takes the class that she thinks she'll do well in: Dungeon Master, someone who builds and runs a dungeon for adventurers to try to loot.
Other updates as they arrive! For now, enjoy the update, and look forward to the next spooktacular-porntacular public release on Halloween!
