Quest Academy: Saviours (Chapters 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79 and 80)

Hey Everyone,

Here is the next batch of Chapters that take us right through to the end of the Tower. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Last week absolutely blew my mind with over 80 comments on the batch of chapters. I'm going to go in later and answer all the direct questions as much as I can. I don't want to add too many spoilers for you, but always happy to clarify on certain things that aren't clear. It was really interesting to see everyone's take on Erika. I wonder how you'll feel after these chapters.

Thank you all so much for the support. I'm now in the final stretches of wrapping things up, and trying to write the finale of the book. I had one chapter that was ridiculously fun to write, but it's not suitable for Book 3. It might have to be something for the future, or just something I keep as an 'Alternate timeline'.

Anyways, enough of me rambling. Hope you enjoy!

Brian

Comments

Yes, but the revolver goes invisible. Should the visor not go invisible too? Synergy means if it happens to one, it happens to the other.

Dale Medford

Well it is Sal who keeps changing the future she sees.

Alteron

I think it’s an attribute of the belt and not the visor and revolver

Nate

I’m hoping for a Divinity and Barry couple and the reason she can’t see who she is with in the future is because Barry’s ability is stopping it so she can’t change the outcome by accident. We’ve already seen he can alter her visions.

Nate

Am I the only one that thinks all these teachers are a bunch of assholes?

Charles Gillentine

She almost always calls him Gallant. I think she sees him more as a Hero than as her child. Sounds like she trained him up from a young age and he spent his formative years in dungeons, towers and training to her high standards.

Sam

I'm pretty sure Fabi is a third year so wouldn't be included in their Savior class.

Sam

New chapters yet?

Travis Snelgrove

Right, any of them could be in any spot, but he gave a cylinder to change out and told them to shoot the second slot at the hulker. Depending on how they loaded it you would not be able to tell them which to shoot. Just reread the end of chapter 78.

Dale Medford

I assume its a swing out cylinder - so he can load in any order and position whatever round he wants in firing position. Also he may well have designed it to rotate either way. Lastly, there is no hammer because no primers. It just LOOKS like a revolver. It also tells me that the author has likely read the Logans Run books. (Sandmen had revolvers with 6 different effects)

Daniel Sifrit

I think their powers compliment each other's. Plus Barry needs a boss.

The Foolish One

It actually would be fun if Barry and Victoria became a couple, and Divinity was truthful :-)

Alteron

When is the release date for book 3?

Matthew

Are new chapters coming?

Kevin Squalls

My crazy wants everything to be a set and he needs head, shirt, coat pants and boots. Also be cool if he could tie them all into the visor and gun.

The Foolish One

Is perfect not fixing his body up? New gates, new muscle, new reflexes... Kinda making his body perfect, I mean he got a beard.

The Foolish One

I was thinking that he would repair and upgrade his armour.

Alteron

In the second book chapter 35, he was asked what he had loaded and replied “Shock, Shear, Magnet, Decay, Freeze, and Shatter.” Would think shatter might also work on the hulker.

Dale Medford

When the belt takes the revolver invisible is that considered a ability. Because the pistol and visor have Synergy: Abilities are shared among set items. Could you wear the visor and have it invisible?

Dale Medford

You have revolver issues. A trigger pull brings the hammer back and rotates the cylinder one slot. To do the same shot you have to go all the way around the cylinder, which rotates in one direction.(Tried to shoot Lux twice in a row) Lux killed the Leechers in book 2 chapter 36 with one shot, are these just not light vulnerable? When changing cylinders any slot can come out in the top slot, there is no slot number.(Gravity in the second slot when killing hulker) And three shots with heavy hitting prowler cylinder to take out one. Why are acid and poison even in this cylinder if you can't shot them once and move on. And these are energy shots, don't think there should be any recoil.

Dale Medford

I see it more of a smart choice. The work shop is packed right now so if he goes home now he can come back as everyone else is leaving and use the break as open season in the shop. So home then shop and supply runs and on too the gala with a side of kidnapping?

Aaron Johnson

30 gates was the pass requirement. 60 is how many gates most people have with out the breathing techniques. One person was said to have 80 gates without breathing techniques. Anyways Sal got to a passing level when Val opened his first 40ish gates. He should be around 50 now and getting to 60 should give max grade for the class. Getting to 60 won't take more than a stop by the cafeteria and spending less than 100 q cred. Though I see him trying all the buff items so likely spending a lot more.

Aaron Johnson

Maybe Condition makes more sense for imprinting, it would solve Sals problem with his body not keeping up with the different weaves. Or he could pay for it.

Alteron

A fix could be Phantom giving Sal the missing bullet on the aircraft. But would that be too evil?

Alteron

Fabi is pretty impressive, handcrafting a armor in two months. Gray Guard! Scale armor handmade by Rank #34 – Fabi Maccles Each scale was carefully shaped by hand, with a total build time of two months. Made with refined cobalt-infused steel to give the gray a bluish hue upon activation. Gray Guard is impervious to direct blunt attacks, and is Prowler claw-resistant. Starting Price: 300 Q-Credit. Nordon, Brian J.. Quest Academy: Silvers (p. 176). The Legion Publishers. Kindle Edition.

Alteron

I read that as her being a bit detached as a mother who also kind of acts as an "agent" of sorts, but I could be wrong

Davi(d)

End of the 2nd book had him at 42 open, even before the perfect weave was used. Chapter 57 in the current book says he has a total of 50 open. The hulk fight forced some open, and Quest said in chapter 80 that all he had to do was drink some potions to get to 60.

Dale Medford

Suggestion for ch 80 - when Prestige is talking to Sal and Roche as a mother, she refers to her son as Gallant but it seems like using Brophy would be better.

Tony

She made the deal with Rob, she kept control of her team under stressful conditions, and I see the prize as a five floors thing. I think a lot of other people would have done worse.

Andrew Tobin

How far along is Sal's visor and gun to evolving to the next level? Will that new level help him kill hulkers?

Dale Medford

Erica did not seem to do a lot to help with the 5th floor. She participated but failed to control her team. It wasn’t even her idea which killed the hulker. She is getting a pretty good award considering how little she did.

Popsicle

Spider healer is keeping it. We all know he had no sat in that 👻

The Foolish One

Yes, he did in book 2. Gallant's mother stopped it before it hit because it would've killed the hunter while in that gaseous form.

Brian

Just my opinion, but it seems that Sal would want Professor Lombardi’s approval or at least an acknowledgment that he passed the class.

Karen Shelton

Quest said it could be managed with some more health potions

Alteron

Great chapters! 😍 One thing that bothered me, chapter 80, Quest told Sal there would be no more classes since he was top of 2 remaining, ie…Administration & Crafting. But wasn’t the goal of Skills class at the end of the semester to have 60 gates opened. By my reckoning, even tho Sal open more gates with the overload of essence Rochelle was sending, he still wasn’t at 60. I could be wrong but Vanessa had pushed him into the high 20’s or 30’s. The health elixir that he drank while using the Perfect skill opened 4 or so. Did the fight with the Hulker open more than 20 gates? Sorry if I seem like nitpicking. Maybe my math skills need work! 😜

Karen Shelton

Well he could have fixed the stairs on the fourth floor.

Alteron

It seems that Sal only needs power to change his weave, and there is a filled up jacket....

Alteron

It is funny they told him to wait and that people don’t do it this early and to save his money and all the reasons to hold off, but now they’re organising his parents as sponsors and it does feel like there is a push by others to get it done. He did ask for premium space in the workshop tho! Huge thanks to Brian for that one, it makes way more sense to centre Sal with his people than to have him elsewhere.

Andrew Tobin

I hope that Sal would help any friends who want to get in. I don’t know if we’d assume they all do. Was it Anthony on his team in the tournament (the guy using the sword)? It didn’t sound like he was destined for that path, even with all the perks.

Andrew Tobin

It didn’t sound like they’d tested the drink yet though, or I missed something. So I just took that as a clear indication of the problems, not that he had tried and lost anything.

Andrew Tobin

I got say leaving the last image of gallent crying in the aftermath of his battle rage and high emotions with a grand return to what he was born to be a hero with confirmation that he can return to form if not greater for his first major combat to lose it all again returns to that moment he lost everything and now a broken hero kill in his Infancy before he could shine and now on a path to rebuild himself broken again 😭

Branden platt

What about an over charge cylinder for the revolver that does more damage regular shots.

Dale Medford

What did the group get from the tower, and the tickets gave was it 4 floors of perfect clears for extra stuff. Did they get anything special that will craft something good. Sal needs to work on 2 things. Maybe something like the light lance that was thrown and killed multiple hulks in the calamity. Also Maybe the pistol he got on the scavenger run, being a clip that does one kind of shot multiple times with a core that powers it. Then change clips to change type of shot.

Dale Medford

One of his team mates from the tourney in book 1

Michael Dunsdon

He gave it to Anthony.

Michael Dunsdon

I don't disagree with that, it just feels like, if they are making that announcement at their function, he is ceding some control for his idea. I guess I was hoping for him to promote in his own time on his own platform

Rod

Sorry, David, I mustn’t have been clear - no, phantom isn’t the same guy. I just meant it seemed like his attitude and power and shadiness felt like setting him up to be Shade from the Delvers, so I was surprised when it was someone else. It just seemed a good time to run into someone we’ve been hearing about for 3 books, and who Sal wants to avoid. Being put in danger during the outing also sounded like what we’d heard of Shade.

Andrew Tobin

Also maybe it could evolve into a phytokinesis kind of skill

Davi(d)

Ending with the gala also mirrors the first book ending with the event and prize after the tournament. It would feel strange to have that as a big dangling plot line.

Andrew Tobin

I liked the call back to Rochelle in book 1 where she pointed out desperate people doing desperate things. She really was surface level evil in that first encounter.

Andrew Tobin

Are you sure Phantom is the name of the guild he was avoiding? Bc I read that part as his alias was the same one as the name of an old guild, not a current one.

Davi(d)

Hah! I’ll have to go back and read that. If that is the case, then I wonder if it is a plot hole or if Sal just has too many bullet choices that he’s just not used to, and goofed it up.

Andrew Tobin

I feel the opposite - Rob hinted that he gala is where they announce new guilds, even trainee ones. I feel like this batch of chapters show he won support for his guild from the head of the Hunters, which is an amazing win for Sal and a step to getting his guild approved.

Andrew Tobin

I don’t see a character change happening that swiftly. In fact, she effectively told them she was faking it to get thru this, and she didn’t really care - which made Prestige really not happy with her. The good news is, it just means she’s a good, conflicting character with more for us!

Andrew Tobin

That is my thought as well.

Aidan Zimmerman

Not sure about moving the auction house into the guild… I could see them supporting him for sure, but the two can be affiliated without being subsumed. After all, his parents seemed to have built that from what I assume was nothing, and they’d support him building his own thing, but it doesn’t mean folding theirs into his. I could see it going either way, but I think they’re business people and wouldn’t do that with a well known and respected business into a trainee guild. It would happen later, after the guild had built its own reputation, if at all.

Andrew Tobin

Speaking of Lettuce guy - I was re-listening to book 1 and he said his powers were useless in a time where food was abundant, but in one of Quests’s speeches he called out what one day graduates might do and improve crops was one of the things he mentioned specifically. I also thought it was an interesting thing that food would be thought to be abundant when they literally had to reclaim urban land let alone rural. If he was wrong about that, I could see his power being super useful.

Andrew Tobin

Well there goes my issue with Perfect improving Sal too much! Hah. Time to perfect some fighting skills! I did think Rob was going to turn out to be the shadowy guild leader that Sal was trying to avoid, even though I bought Sal would have recognised him since his parents auction house worked with him. It just seemed a good moment for those two to cross paths, and it’s been this whole book since the thread was pulled on. Maybe the gala will bring that back around? Poor Ioseph. Hopefully someone in his life will point out he helped a team clearing 5 floors and he won’t be so down. I can’t help but feel like if he had some gloves like Sal’s he could rock out runes in no time on any surface. At the same time, it’s not up to Sal to personally improve everyone he comes across. Loved the chapters. Really enjoyed that last moment with Brophy - it’s still ambiguous how much or if Sal should help him. It could be a good or terrible thing, and even Prestige doesn’t know what to do really. Heck of an ending to the tower, anyway. It’s almost a shame Erika didn’t show better control over Sal when she last took control of him, showing she could puppet him into fighting with actual skill, or he might have been regretting she was collared when he had to brute force it.

Andrew Tobin

I actually feel like the gala would be a great end of book event, like the climax is the tower, I see your point on this part, but you need to wrap things up after a climax, and i think the gala would be a great finishing touch to the book since it ends several of this book's plotlines (Sal's guild, his exposure, the Tower, and even the Saviours class in a way).

Davi(d)

I'm assuming next book, there's max 10 chapters left if he sticks to what he's said about the rough length of the book And even if there were more, I think the tower is a better climax, let the gala be a big event next book

Thomas Todd

Will the hunter’s Gala be in this book as a wrap up. Or the next book? Looking forward to seeing what type of announcement comes along with Sal’s trainee guild to see how many people are clamoring to get into his guild. Love the tie back into book two where Sal’s mind gets taken over by Erika to finish the training excersize but to finish the tower Sal himself decides to put himself in danger. Love the development of Sal’s mindset towards danger. Love the chapters. Can’t wait for the next ones.

Aidan Zimmerman

Could Sal not just pay for another Skill Registration to get Perfect Ability rather than waiting for the more expensive Skill Imprinting and Skill Implanting? He has more knowledge now and needs to get the blue print for the machine.

The Foolish One

Don’t think he had the materials or time tbh, I was hoping he’d use his skill master and start cooking

km272727

He still needs to learn all the crafting basics that Upgrade wants him to learn. Foundation need to be solid.

The Foolish One

I liked it alot, I half thought he would create something with mythcrafter in his role as support ( iknow he crafted the gear beforehand) to stop the attacks rather then step in as a defender / offense. but i did like the conclusion to the story

Travis

Wow nice second half to the "tower". Sorry to see Gallent still out of control. Erika just feels broken in a different way.

Robert Smart

Great job!!

Heather Herren

bro needs to stop holding back 😭🙏

km272727

Rochelle has really blossomed and I love that so much. Sal is really getting some great character development. I really enjoyed getting to see some of the senior hunters through out the tower too.

Michelle Ray

Choo choo 🚂

Scotty

I like that Sal knows that at least a good portion of Erika's actions are her own choices as much as it is her ability. While Gallent's is from trauma/his ability evolving out of his control. Hopefully that trip with the head of the hutners will help. I'm also surpirsed that he want to visit his family. I think he will be targeted on his visit, which will end it early. He is a big target now...huge infect. Great chapters though!

Travis Nevins

Didn't Sal have a cold bullet that he used against the ethereal woman in the excursion? Why didn't he use that against the hulker?

Abdulmohsen

I hope Sal learns how to fight soon. Having a Hulker bounce on top of you repeatedly lol. I'm pretty sure his sword could have come in handy with the Absolute-Counter ability but I don't think it's been mentioned since the first book.

Brian

I loved the chapters

Alteron

I do think she might be the crafter, either her or the guy from Sal's first team that appeared wearing an evolutionary rune out of nowhere, though I have to admit I have no idea what this "Saviour-inscribing-method" you mentioned might be

Davi(d)

Mentioning Fabri: does anybody else thinks that she is the additional "good" crafter that made the armor that Sal bought? That would mean that they tested the Saviour-inscribing-method early... which makes actually sense coming to think of it

Nina Speicher

Instead of working in the workshop, Sal understands the big picture of going home and making sure his parents are on board with his dream of making his own guild . I recall that earlier they were going to have a great influence over that decision with Quest.

Jeremy

I don't usually comment on stuff but since you were happy with 80 I thought I'd add my grain of sand to the pile lol. Great job writing.

Roberh Sedes

It would be kinda cliché but I'm hoping all of Sal's friends get into both the Saviours class and his guild, even though Divinity said she might wait until after establishing herself as a hero in another guild

Davi(d)

It might be, I have no idea how many he said it was, best case scenario it's big enough for most if not all of Sal's friends to get in along with the first 3 we just saw

Davi(d)

it feels like the choice of forming his own guild is slowly being taken away, with his performance and all the interested parties it feels like what ever control he had is being taken away, hell quest doesn't seem to have any sway/say in the matter. I still don't like Erika !

Rod

Great chapters! This was a great payoff to the for all the build up to the tower. I must say, I was surprised Sal wanted to go home early rather than get more time in the workshop.

Tim Walloch

Gallant is facing mental health problems, not only PTSD from what he saw but from being told he was basically the second coming then become useless. He probably has some sort of inferiority complex along with his arrogance and possible delusions of grandeur not to mention how his ability is messing with his brain chemistry and his darker impulses are coming out. He can’t control any of that and is actively working and seeking help. Erika chooses to be an asshole, chooses to use people, and has a superiority complex. She Might have some issues if she couldn’t stop listening to people BUT she has said that she can choose when to listen and not. She chooses to invade people’s privacy, chooses to inslave them with out care except for the mission and how that makes her look. She is primarily focused on the top spot or she wouldn’t have been so pissed with Sal and divinity past couple of books.

Nozzy

Thanks Chad, what isn't fully clear to me is how much Perfect follows his intention on how to use the essence vs. just decides autonomously how to work

BaguaBrady

Like when she healed Sal the first time it remade his muscles with her help. Instead of letting the essence heal his body and perfect his physical form he used it to power his armor and make it tougher.

Nozzy

Yeah, Erika is a hyper competent asshole. It makes for an interesting character, and long term maybe she'll change, but for the moment there's very little redeeming about her other than competence

Sébastien Kingsbury

Great chapters! Nice to see the character growth we got from Sal. Some proper political worries teased with Rob's interest and the carefulness both Quest and Prestige treat him with. I appreciate how you are giving us peaks into the top level players and the real concern for how Sal will be able to maintain control over his own career path. I'm a bit confused about how Perfect interacts with Rochelle's essence and how he can "choose" to use it or not. I'm guessing he'll learn more how to best use Perfect as he goes.

BaguaBrady

My memory was 30 but I could be wildly off

BaguaBrady

Personally I pity him and feel disgust at Erika. One seems to be trying to change and a mess of conflicting trauma responses, the other directly reaffirms her stance of robbing agency to others at every opportunity.

BaguaBrady

I really hope the perfekt abillity implant itself I mean that would be "perfekt"

Ivo Wißen

I think Gallant not only has problems controlling his weave but ptsd also. Instead of it making him fall apart he lashes out at anything that gets in his way. I also think it would be interesting to see Sal's parents step in and help run the guild and just move the auction house into the guild as a part of it. It would also help make sure the crafters in the guild don't get ripped off.

John Curtis

Now I need to wait for all the spoils of war! Like what happened to the big birds corpse? Did the hulker core get lost? What is he getting from the tickets? When is he going to analyse the dungeon core shard? Was Erika the girl with the black hair and blue eyes from the first challenge? Who is the daughter of his mom's crazy friend? What are his nee cloths gonna be and are they going to be linked to hid visor and gun?

The Foolish One

Loved the latest chapters. Still on the fence re. Erika. I don't really see a definitive character change in her. Feel sorry for Gallant. I hope Sal lets Rochelle keep the coat. Must be getting near the end of this book. When will I see Sal and Devinity get together?????

Ron Blondeau

Please release the next chapters early… great job with the tower. I’m loving this pace and all the action, but I also miss Sal’s advancement. What did perfect do for his stats during the tower? Is he going to learn the breathing technique over break and perfect it? When is his body manipulator/agent going to get her hands on Sal again and help adjust him? Sorry…. But I really want more soon. I already love that you give so many chapters at a time. It was the best gift and made my day. Keep up the amazing work.

William Allison

Gallant is such a conflicting character. I keep flip flopping. Do we hate him and want to see him get his punishment? Do we feel bad for him? Can't wait to see Sal's guild formed and who might make up his "management team".

Grakyn

If there are only 10 spots that is, if there's more (I don't remember the exact number) I'm guessing someone from Sal's first team, the body manipulator girl, the girl with a skill similar to the Skills professor, and idk why but lettuce guy as well. Before this batch I was including Brophy and Ioseph in my guesses, but now I'm not sure anymore (I kinda wish Ioseph was one of them still. Not Brophy though, I might hate him as much as Erika actually)

Davi(d)

I need more chapters. I devoured them too fast.

Jakob Büscherhoff

I'm guessing the Saviours class is gonna be Sal, Erika, Roche, Divinity, Barry, Blathnaid, her love interest that i forget the name, Hannah, necromancer girl, and Fabri. At least based on character interaction and some of Divinity's visions

Davi(d)

Can't wait to see the full Saviours list! How many spots were there again?

Davi(d)

I am now curious how Divinity will react to Sal getting invited to the gala since she saw that one future where Sal went to the gala and then went off with Doc Ameye on his train.

Casey

TFTC! Idk how others feel about both erika and gallant but for me is kind of nice seeing some different archetypes of rivals/antagonists in these stories. Imo it would be nice if we could see more of Sal progression in terms of combat also more details about the whole essence Gates thingy. Also it would be interesting if the guild forms quickly enough so we could follow the others closely.

Gabriel Albino

Thanks for the chapters! As for what to do with the 'fun chapter' I've seen other authors include a 'Bloopers' section at the end of their books in which they put in those alternate stories/funny things that could have happened had things gone drastically different. Just an idea.

Deko

That was epic, absolutely amazing pay off! I also said I didn't like Rob in the previous comments but I retract that statement. He seems like an ass but more because he's pushing for excellence, although that might not stay true

Thomas Todd

Loved the chapters. Great to see the development of the different characters and the machinations of the factions.

Kieran

Loved the chapters! Was super interesting to get the battle frenzy mentioned, interested to see how that develops. *Thank* you for not leaving this batch off at the end of the tower, much less of a cliffhanger and a better resolution where it was! Absolutely loved the interplay among the party and look forward to seeing how Sal's friends performed, as well as how everything develops around the Gala!

Rielgesh

I have decided that you are EVIL because you are making me wish my life away. Just to get to the next time period when more chapters come out. :( :P Wait when do we get more, I wish ......
