So, where do I even start? We managed to somehow get Quest Academy: Saviors down to No. 53 in the entire Kindle worldwide store on Amazon. That completely blew past all my expectations for the first day, and it was there ahead of Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros. Currently its sitting at around No. 138 in the store, which is great considering it's 3 days since release.
Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement. Just seeing all the positive reviews coming through has really warmed my heart. I really really appreciate it. <3
Also, a massive welcome and thank you to everyone that's joined the Patreon in the last few days. It was a big spike of people coming through, which was also a lovely surprise! I was at a wedding for most of the weekend, so I was constantly getting emails from Patreon that new people were joining and it was the loveliest feeling. :)

These chapters are in the light side when it comes to length. It's like ....they end when they hit a certain word count, not it when it makes from a story telling aspect. Also whenever he's using his power it's just the same wording over and over again. He straightens, unkinkks, smoothes, ect ect.... It's just the same description over and over again..... Needs more detail/thought into this core system.

Which is ridiculous for an appraiser who grew up in an auction house. It came off like he's never actually been to an auction or sold anything or knew what money was. He's constantly downplaying the cost of things he makes for people, where if there is anyone who should know the monetary value of an item it should be him.

Add on a high societal value on things being YOUR power and also possibly Erika, "working on things" offscreen because she is absolutely the type to consider therapy a personal failing and never disclose it..... it's sensible right now, her worst incidents have also been... within biases of the setting, "sacrifice the support, they've been expendable since we got dressed" is a cultural thing

2024-10-09 23:01:01 +0000 UTCI was re-reading book 3 saviors and in chapter 45 bazaar it was stated that the vengeful armor that Sal bought for Barry was 1/ 4 months old depending on the piece, yet when Fabi mentioned she was the one who made it she said she made it while in the first year so it should be 2 years old.

Between the two of them they could literally create drones capable of massacring entire armies of Demons just by dropping ninja girls anti demon power on them and making them evolution capable. Stick some self replication pods with drones that can harvest out in the wild and just watch the fuckers go.

Fabi still seems far too perfect to me, I hope we will see more humanization together with Sal in the following month. Drunk Divinity will either be very funny/cute or a nightmare. I have re-read book 1 and 2 and am now in part 3. Is there a continuation of the anthony tracker plotline and the idea of growing and refining alchemy ingredients ?

2024-10-08 02:05:07 +0000 UTCTheir world is really screwed up. Society is a weird mix between a pseudo caste system, cultivation sects, and a world run by corporations. It’s hard to root for anyone when nothing holds the bad actors in check and even the “good” guys are largely scummy. Even with Bastion over their heads as a threat, I don’t think I’d ever be able to trust them. Sal’s parents are a different issue entirely, and it’s probably their fault he’s so naive and easily frightened.

Maybe even death if she got to them early enough? Then someone she liked or respected died because she couldn't get to them in time, possibly from hunter bureau machinations? That could cause her to retire and have a grudge against the hunter bureau.

2024-10-07 23:03:57 +0000 UTCSomething that has bugged me, since we learned about Erika’s abilities, is Quest Academy (QA) turning a blind eye to the use of her mind control on other students. She uses the ability whenever she feels so inclined and without consent. We’ve already seen how Quest feels about Sal being able to remove a hero’s/student’s ability. Yet Erika’s mind control is infinitely more scary and potentially destructive, but QA places no limits on her. AND no one seems to be complaining about it except Sal and a few others. Even when Erika was being reprimanded for using her ability on Sal- their issue was her not following orders, his injuries and the danger she put Sal in, NOT the fact that she took control of his body without his consent. We can all see that Erika is badly broken AND she’s extremely dangerous, and QA doesn’t seem to be concerned. SO, is this simply an oversight that can occur when writing hundreds of thousands of words or is our author subtly preparing us for an integral part of the story in book 5+ (and we’ll just have to suffer through the frustration of an apparent inconsistency until all is made crystal)…

Since you're interested in feedback, in the chapter 24 where Sal said he'll never create another vending machine because of the need to program it, why would programming MythOS matter? He wrote it out on paper and then loaded onto the workbench. Even if he didn't write it on paper, it's on his workbench. He should be able to load it onto another vending machine without needing to redo the programming. Great story and thanks for writing!

I am like best friends with my mother but it didn't happen till I was in college and had more independence. So seeing Sal close to his parents like that just seems normal to me overall.

Maybe its a personal thing, lol. This reminds of one of my friends, he also had a relatively strange relationship with his parents (by my standards). I think this feeling of foreignness made me associate it with the "overly happy american" stuff ive read in the past. Sorry if you felt I was criticising you.

They had me when they were young, and they were massive supporters of me being creative. I enjoy spending time with them and Petro and Sophia are very close representations of their personalities. As for the empathy, that's down to me as an author. I'm very much an overthinker and would probably be seen as soft by most people's standards. I wrote Sal with segments of my own personality and upbringing, which is why you're likely feeling that disconnect. I don't enjoy stories with edgy characters or murder-hobos, and didn't want the trope of parents being killed off as a plot device. I hope that gives some insight as to why it was written the way it was. :)

2024-10-07 20:55:09 +0000 UTCWell, Quest Academy is pretty addicting. I can understand why it blew up like this. The pacing and timeline are intense as well, hooking people easily in the beginning. Ignore the following if want, I just wrote out my stream of consciousness. There are probably plenty of problems with what I wrote. Maybe its a cultural thing, as I am not American, but the "overly happy american" cringe is the only thing that puts me off. For some reason a lot of American authors cant help but write their characters with an overly "harmless but still prideful" mentality. Most characters also tend to be strongly prejudiced in ways Americans dont seem to realise is prejudice. I think its a reflection of their own social spheres. Eh, its something I only noticed after I read a bunch of novels from different corners of the world. I mainly find the relationship between Sal and his parents strange. Like, do Americans seriously have relationships like that with their parents? It feels incredibly... strange to treat your parents like older friends. Also people in general seem way too empathetic of extremely specific things.
