2024-10-27 13:02:02 +0000 UTCSo in regards to this match being a draw it kinda was in that out of the 12 PPVs WCW ran in 1998 it had the 7th most buys however most of those were early in the year when WCW was still very much "winning the war" even though the tides were beginning to turn. And did do 35k and 60k more respectively than both September's Fall Brawl and November's WW3. But of course even if this match helped attributed to that number it's still worde when compared to other Hogan vs old rival ppvs. As its only higher than one of his trilogy vs Piper. And his two title matches with Flair in early 99 did more especially the 1st one at Superbrawl (400k buys out drew Austin Mcmahon in a cage at St Valentines Day Massacre). And all of this is ignoring the elephant in the room and that is this match running long in addition to all of the pointless unneeded promos and nitro girl routines. Cause people to lose the main event and demand refunds. Plus airing DDP vs Goldberg for free while a good makeup ruined the encore ppv replay. So in total they probably lost money or at the very least broke even

Frankly, what they should do, if they want to be competitive (there’s that nasty blood, sweat and tears word again), is sell some of those construction materials Daddy Jarrett has laying around, and put up the financing to bring in Goldberg and Ultimate Warrior and let us try to beat the intensity out of one another. And the camera focused on it for a disturbing amount of time. Yet perhaps as a child I would have laughed at it. Some of us (hopefully) learned to be better. The late 1990s were sure a thing, weren't they? As for the match, it's a classic disasterpiece. WARRIOR takes the dog to hell and blows himself up before the match even starts. The log roll, the botched fireball, the hilariously limp interference and the finish. Just awful. All of it. Yet I've watched this match more than one should.

Meanwhile, Hogan/Warrior was the co-main. Which meant that for hundreds of thousands of people who paid to watch at home, this was the last match they saw before the feed was cut.
