733 (Present Day)

There are numerous sky islands floating all over the world, conversely there are very few expeditions manned to explore these mysterious floating bodies of land. The primary reason is because the islands are impossible to track, these aerial land masses do not follow a consistent flight pattern and it changes altitude as freely as a bird can fly. The only reason we are able to land on this particular island is because I knew the island is going to be here, on this particular space at exactly this particular time.

Like my mother, I have the gift of foresight or a least a less useful version of it. Mundane events appear in my dreams, like farmer Aylor's cow being stuck in a ditch, or a vision of Breena losing money on the drake-races. One night I told the boss about the dream I had of this island and a few days later he called for an expedition to install a door in this place. That's why I got up early this morning, assembled this motley crew, hitched a ride on the guild's trading airship that coincides with this island's flight path, and here we are.

Jakar: "This island is flying pretty low, we can see the Dead Mountain from here"
Breena: "What's the Dead Mountain?"
Radne: "There! that steep mountain with a hole in it"
Jakar: "You don't know about that mountain Breena? Oh right! you're not originally from this plane. Well according to historical records, many years ago on a cold winter night of 692, a beam of light shot out of the earth and pierced a hole through that mountain. There's a song written about that incident"

Radne: ♪♫ Hell spat out it's unwanted son, up and through mount Volkan ♪
Jakar: "Yeah! a little off-key but that's the one"
Breena: "Never heard of it"
Radne: "Anyway let's get this done, the island is sailing pretty swiftly, I don't want to end up over another continent"
Jakar: "Remind me, why are we here again?"
Radne: "We're tasked to erect a doorway on this island to serve as a gateway to the guild, if my suspicions are correct, I think the boss wants to harvest the minerals that makes this whole thing float and sell it to airship builders."
Jakar: *giggling*
Radne: "What's so funny?"
Jakar: "You said 'ERECT' hahahahahaha"
