I thought over the matter all afternoon and by evening I came to a conclusion that it would be imprudence to mull over something as trivial as a case of missing persons. However something about the the report kept on crossing my mind; 'Monster' , 'Creature' .
The matter at hand proved to be more compelling than I thought initially, and I decided to act on it. I stepped out of my office to pay Ellaine a visit, her laboratory is located in a dark hallway in the lower parts of the building.
Just before I could knock, the door slowly swung open as if expecting my arrival. "What do mages have against ordinary doors?" I said to myself. As I entered, I was welcomed by the strong scent of incense, immediately my gaze was directed to the bright light at the far end of the room, there I saw a lean feminine figure wearing a raincoat and pair of goggles. Ellaine appeared to be tinkering with a small jewelry box that kept on spraying sleet.
"What can I do for you this fine evening?" She said without averting her gaze from the strange object.
"I was hoping you could accompany me to the morgue" said I.
"A charming place to take a lady out" she said flatly. "what about the others?"
"Zoe is busy running the place, and everyone else is engaged for the evening" I said while prodding a curious specimen inside a metal cage.
She promptly closed the lid of the spitting jewelry box, and removed her googles. Sharp and penetrating obsidian eyes shot a warning glance at me.
"I'm in need of your particular set of talents to shine light on a particular point of difficulty."
"Give me a minute to get dressed, and don't touch anything" she said while methodically stripping layers of her attire.
"I will wait for you down at the guild hall" I remarked as I exited the laboratory.

It was a busy night, the booths and tables are full of adventurers and common-folk enjoying their drinks. A loud harmonious chant erupted as Mila the dwarf stood on top of a table to chug a cask of ale. Zoe then handed me my drink, I closed my eyes and took a sip and listened to the sounds around me; a cacophony of laughter, singing and merry-making and best of all is the clinking of coin. Almost too suddenly everything went quiet, and all I could hear were the clicking of heels coming down from the stairway.
She was dressed in a sombre yet rich style, a dark cloak and white dress-shirt along with thigh high boots over skin-tight trousers that accentuates her long slender legs.
Regal and commanding is how I would describe her being, gliding gracefully across the room towards the bar. Ellaine made it evident that there is commitment and intent behind making such an entrance. I noticed Zoe rolling her eyes while aggressively wiping the counter, fearing it might catch fire I stood up immediately and abandoned my drink.
"Shall we?" said Ellaine.
"We have a carriage waiting for us outside" I replied.
"No, let's walk. It isn't far" she said, as she placed her arm around mine.
It was half past eight o' clock when we left for our little excursion.
