Quick Update - 13th of Feb

First I'll be extending the billing pause for another month.

I'm currently planning on restarting publishing chapters on the 10th of March. Hopefully by then I'll have a back log of five to ten chapters so that I can be consistent with posting.

What's happening with me. This week I'm on track to do a little under 40 hours of work. That's all been dedicated to gettign fate points book 4 edited and a little bit of work on book 3. Next week I plan on starting to produce Unhinged Fury chapters again.

Generally it's been really hard. My mind is struggling to do nothing and procrastinating massively at the thought of doing work. How this has played out in practice is that I've been reading lots (to distract) and all my time has been taken up by that and dad duties.

Currently I've sworn off starting new books and with exception of books I'm following I won't be doing any reading (at least until I'm properly back into a reading routine).

If you need recommendations my current reading list is

Scion of Humanity: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/89426/scion-of-humanity

PAth of Last Champion: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/98241/path-of-the-last-champion-sci-fi-litrpg-ancient

Spires Spite: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/80196/spires-spite

Ajax's ascension: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/51664/ajaxs-ascension-formerly-gamer-reborn

Path to Transcendence:https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/86047/path-to-transcendence-isekailitrpg

The Lone Wander: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/95097/the-lone-wanderer-astral-projection-and-world-hopping

That's basically in order of my current enthusasim for each of the stories. I've been patreon for all of them and am currently subscribed to 4. (not the first 4).

There are also a couple of other ones that I might pick back up. These are all series that I'm either near up to date or at the very least hundred plus chapters into them. These are What Will Be, Etherious, Elydes, super supporative, orphan, 12 miles below. Once more in order of liklihood.

Final piece of news is my wife has been suffering nerve pain and tingling for a couple of months (neck, arm, and occasionally leg). It's been so bad that she's been functionally disabled for the last couple of months but had still been doing most of her chores. She's gotten worse over the last week and thankfully is getting surgery on monday to replace two discs in her neck which means I'm going to  the primary carer until then and for a couple of weeks after which will stop me from getting back to sixty hour work weeks.

The operation has something ridiculous like a 95 % satisfaction rating but there is a 2/3% chance of something going wrong which is scary. It's been an emotional time, first because of the need for surgery, then with the pain relief drugs screwing her mental state, plus the continuous painm then because surgery was not covered by her private health insurance because so it had to be cancelled, then we learned private health will cover it and it was back on. Overall, it's been an emotional roller coaster. The funny thing is that all the stress of will the insurance cover it or not has put us in a better position. Because she's searched for other options and spoke to a lawyer (probably won't use them) but they suggested she look at her super and apparently her super had income protection for disability built in that we weren't aware of so that'll be a nice bonus of four to six months of partial wages when that gets processed.

Anyway apologies for the long radio silence. As I said it's been hard and the last four weeks has been the least productive months for me for the last 4 and half years that I've been writing. That includes time on holidays and full time working, covid excetra... grief is hard.

Billing is paused to June the 5th (probably Australian time)

Allan Greenwood

Will billing be unpaused soon? I would like to read ahead of the public release.

phoon

I read this awhile ago and then abandoned it, probably midway through book 2.. Not sure why. There was nothing wrong with it but the overall package didn't work for me.

Allan Greenwood

I have most of those on my own list. I've actually gotten banned from a couple for too much enthusiasm/critical observations. Spire's Spite in particular. I'm still following on RR. Suggest you take a look at https://www.patreon.com/c/nrsearcy/posts who has a RR thread too https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/77046/path-of-dragons-a-litrpg-apocalypse-book-1-coming It's not actually about dragons... more like evolving into one very, very far away in the story

Silver Beard

Also thinking of you, hope you are doing ok!

KipBR

Hi Allan, was thinking of you and your family today, hope things are going well. ❤️

Andrew Goudie

Allan, you have great writing skills, while at times I wished the plot moved faster, younger years are always hard for me to read in these type of books, you have done well and at times I forget he is in a young body. As to your health and your wife's, make sure to take care of yourself! Hope recovery goes quickly!

Drew Dalton

Please, take your time. What you're going through is no picnic, and it's not a "normal" thing thats ever going to happen again, taking time off isn't some kind of weakness or bad thing, atleast not to my mind. I get that it's gotta be super frustrating to not progress like you are used to, but remember, we will be here once you're back on track, we're not going anywhere. Stay strong brother, and best wishes to you and the family.

Johan Persson

Thank you for the update, I wish the best for you and your family. Don't worry, we will still be here when your ready

Mark

Thanks for the reading list

FreakinaBox

He is back!!!!!!

FreakinaBox

Thanks for the update. Hope everything goes well with the operation. I'll check out your recommendations, the ones I'm following at the moment are: hell difficulty tutorial, A Novel Concept - A death a day, MC will live anyway!, Doors to the Unknown (Worm/D&D, Fusion/Crossover), super supportive, spires spite and August intruder. Of these hell difficulty tutorial is the only other one I patronize.

Daniel Playford

Best of luck to your wife!

Julian

Thanks for the update. You have a lot going on in your life, so the delays are completely understandable. I hope things go well with your wife’s surgery.

Sanderson

I am also a patron to The Lone Wanderer and the Path of the last Champion;) these 2 are very promising

AL

We have extremely similar taste in books.

DagNabItAll

I hope everything gets better for you Allan and your family. I’m glad to hear that the insurance should work out and I hope your wife recovers swiftly and with as little pain as possible. Take all the time you need, we’ll be here when ur ready o7

Anki

Yeah. That's about where I'm up too.

Allan Greenwood

I think I'm a bit behind, he went on hiatus a while back and I stopped reading around when MC finally got to the Main land and grabbed his sister

im Panda

I know. I'm only 11 chapters behind. I'm waiting to see if he starts writing again before picking it back up

Allan Greenwood

Glad you’re taking the time you need and your wife is being cared for, chronic pain is such a tough thing to deal with. Nice reading list! Can attest that almost all of those are good. Super Supportive is a real treat too, I’d almost recommend waiting until it’s more complete, because it’s addictive. Elydes too!

jumbosauce

Hey man, nothing but love and support from us, do what you need to do, and thanks for the recommendations. bTW Elydes is really good 👍
