Chapter Warnings: Welcome to Dalju!

WC: 2.3K

It should be weird, the fact you were traveling to a city you had never even heard of, with men you hardly knew. The little voice inside your head, also known as your conscience, should be alerting you about all of the red flags and how dangerous it could be.

But when you looked at the seven, you felt nothing but happiness and excitement, so you went with them without thinking twice.

Namjoon and Seokjin left first, followed by Hoseok, Jungkook and Jimin, and you were in the last car to leave the big mansion the Bangtan pack called home. Yoongi was driving and Taehyung sat by his side, taking care of the music choices. You were in the backseat, with one of Jungkook’s coats draped over your legs in case you felt cold.

This felt more like a road trip than a runaway expedition.

By what you heard, the pack had business to conduct in Dalju, as well as attending an event you didn’t know anything about. But for you, it was a chance to run away from the Southside wolves that had been after you. At least for a little bit, hoping they would have forgotten all about you by the time you got back.

“What did you do about Moonlight?” Yoongi asked as his pale hands moved the steering wheel with ease.

“I told Miss Narae it was a robbery.” you explained as you watched the big buildings of Seoul get left behind. “Said I didn’t feel safe working there anymore, and she understood.”

“Good.”

And you had told Kimee you were going back home to see your parents for a while, scared of the newfound violence in the big city. She understood, and was very concerned about the mugging story you told her. You hated lying to her, the girl had been your closest thing to a family in Seoul; but you couldn’t just tell her the truth.

After the subject died down and the car fell into a comfortable silence, you asked something that had been worrying you all day:

“Is Joonie avoiding me?”

Yes. Taehyung answered, but he used the kind of voice you couldn’t hear.

“Why do you think so?” Yoongi risked a look in your direction, through the rearview mirror.

“Well, I haven’t talked to him all day… And he said no when I asked to ride in the car with him.”

“Seokjin hyung and Namjoon hyung always go ahead of the rest of the pack.” Taehyung said, in an attempt to take your worries away. “You couldn’t go with them for safety reasons.”

“Oh.”

“And I’m sure he’s not avoiding you.” Yoongi agreed, but he knew it was a lie. “He just has a lot on his plate right now.”

You gave both men a little nod, you understood. You didn’t push the subject, but you couldn’t shake the feeling they weren’t telling you everything. All of them had been really happy to find you in their house, albeit worried about what brought you there; all except for Namjoon. You had never seen him as serious as you did today.

“You’re gonna love Dalju, doll.” Taehyung changed the subject, turning around between the two front seats so he could look at you. “There’s so much green, forests and mountains everywhere! And our house is huge!”

“Oh, yeah?”

Smiling at the boy was something easy to do. Taehyung had this aura about him, almost innocent and excitable, something that hid all of the mischief he carried in his bones. His hair was always messy and floppy, sometimes falling over and covering his eyes. You liked his tanned skin, and the slope of his nose, and his expressive eyes and wide smile.

“I’m sure we’re gonna have a lot of fun.” you told him.

“Yeah! I’m gonna show you everything. There’s a swimming hole near the cabin, and strawberry bushes we can pick and eat from.” the more he talked, the more you wished to arrive there already. “You’re gonna have your own room, too, right next to mine.”

You let out a little giggle from how excited Tae seemed to be about that last information. “What about you, Yoon? Is your room next to mine too?”

“Mine is in the basement.” he shook his head with an amused chuckle. “You’re always welcome in it, though.”

With a blush to your cheeks after the invitation, you watched the colors change outside the window. From gray buildings to green trees and far away mountains, the lull of the car had you falling asleep before you noticed.

When you woke up again, it was with Taehyung’s sweet baritone voice coaxing you to look at the town views.

By the time your sleepy eyes got used to the scenery, you understood why he liked Dalju so much. You felt transported to a different time, where the houses didn't grow past three stories, lampposts were scarce on the streets, there were trees everywhere, and no traffic whatsoever.

The small town was in a clearing between two mountains, which meant the views were absolutely gorgeous. The deeper Yoongi drove, the more forest you could see.

Your jaw completely dropped when Yoongi parked the car in front of the house the Bangtan pack owned in the town and you could not understand why they would ever trade this for anything in Seoul.

The cabin, if you could even call it that, was in the middle of the woods, completely surrounded by trees that weren't tall enough to block the sun or wind. It was the perfect mixture of rustic and modern, made of dark wood, and the whole front of the house was purely glass walls, floor to ceiling. It goes to show just how safe the pack felt here, to have so many ways to look into the home.

But Yoongi and Tae had told you on the drive over that they knew almost everyone in town, it being primarily made up of werewolves of neighboring and amicable packs, and the humans never came to this side of town anyway.

Taehyung kept to his promise and gave you a tour of the whole house, taking you from the basement –where Yoongi and Hoseok’s rooms were–, to the main level of the house –Namjoon was the only one to have a room there–, and the second floor –where the rest of the bedrooms, including yours and a playroom, were located.

Your bedroom was a guest bedroom, but when you got there, Jimin was already changing the bed sheets to a more colorful one that he thought would match you better, and Jungkook was bringing decor pieces from the house –and his own room– so that you could feel more at home.

“This is perfect, guys, thank you so much.” you definitely felt moved by how caring they were being with you, when they had no responsibility to be.

“My room is just to the right, if you need anything.” Jungkook smiled. “Just behind that door in the bathroom.”

He pointed through the open door of the Jack and Jill bathroom you two apparently shared.

“Don’t forget to lock it while you’re showering.” Jimin warned.

“I walked in on you one time!” Jungkook fussed.

“You didn’t need to join me in!”

It was just past two in the morning when you gave up trying to fall asleep. The house was very quiet, so much so you had to step carefully to avoid creaking floorboards in order to not call attention to yourself.

Passing by Jungkook’s bedroom right next to yours, you could see a faint blue light coming from under his door, probably caused by a television. You considered joining him, asking if he wanted to watch a movie with you, but he’d spent the whole night with you already.

And you didn’t want your presence to be a bother to either of the men.

You ended up leaving the house altogether, taking a seat on the wood balcony at the front of the house. The cold wind of the night was blowing the branches of the trees, insects were churning and every now and then an owl would hoot in the distance.

You had grown up in a busy city, smaller than Seoul, but a metropolis all the same. And so you never thought you could ever find as much peace as you felt right now. Even as you heard the crunching of leaves getting closer and closer through the forest ahead of you, you felt anything but fear.

Even when the big gray wolf walked between two trees, large paws coming in contact with the gravel, a low rumbling from noticing you sitting there, you still smiled.

“Aren’t you a beautiful one?”

You were saying as the wolf rushed through the path to get to you. You braced yourself for impact, but the wolf was still too heavy and too strong, so you almost fell backwards when his head hit your chest, forehead rubbing under your chin.

“Joon! It tickles!”

Giggles spilled out as your fingers threaded through his soft fur and he continued to bump his head against you. Namjoon was a much bigger wolf than Jungkook, had he been the one you found in the alley behind Moonlight, you wouldn’t have mistaken him for a dog.

The wolf laid down on the ground in front of you, big head on your lap as he rolled over on his back. Namjoon's snout hit your arm as a big wet tongue licked your fingers.

“Ewww, stop!” you laughed and tried to push him off of you, but the wolf was too heavy.

And he was determined to lay on top of you, apparently.

“Joonie!” you insisted, scratching behind his ears. “Why don’t you turn back so we can talk?”

The big wolf huffed, the warm breath hitting your face. It was definitely a complaint, but he still turned over again and walked into the house. You stayed outside, enjoying the breeze and the lack of wolf licks.

A little while later, Namjoon sat next to you on the wooden panels of the front porch. As a man this time. He was a little sheepish, scratching the back of his neck. The Bangtan leader hadn’t turned in a while, so now that he finally had, his animal instincts spoke louder than himself.

He wasn’t usually that clingy.

“Hey.” he was also a little awkward after having avoided you all day. “Can’t sleep?”

You shook your head, moving to sit a little closer to him. “It’s gonna take a while for my body clock to get used to sleeping at night. You?”

“Too much on my mind.” the man admitted, eyes roaming your face.

It had been hard to avoid going after you at Moonlight the past few days, even worse to avoid you in their own home. But Namjoon was struggling.

He wanted nothing more than to be this close to you all the time, to touch you and breathe you in. But at the same time, he didn’t know if it was the right thing to do.

Humans and wolves didn’t mix. Not only was it dangerous for you, the attack at Moonlight was proof enough, it also went against the Northside belief that both worlds should be separated.

But they weren’t in Seoul anymore and the Northside x Southside fight seemed far away right now.

Maybe it would be okay if he could pretend this could work out, just for a little while.

“I hope your midnight run helped in a way.” you smiled at him and he knew everything would be okay. “Must be cool to run around in the woods.”

“You can come with me next time.”

“I’m sure I’d just slow you down.” you laughed. “Or I’d fall down, get lost and never be found again.”

“I’d find you.” Namjoon told you with so much certainty it sent shivers up your spine.

“How can you be sure?” you challenged. “Wait, do you have night vision?”

Namjoon chuckled, and he was so close you could smell his minty breath.

“I can see better in the dark in wolf form, yes. But I wouldn’t call it night vision.” the man leaned in on his arm, palm resting behind you so his arm was almost touching your back. “But that’s not how I’d find you.”

"How–"

Your voice was cut off as Namjoon leaned in, ever so slowly. Your hand rested on his muscular chest, strong pec under your fingers. But stopping him wasn't your intent.

"You could be all the way across town and I'd still be able to smell you." his nose hit your cheek as your lips parted on a silent gasp.

"Hobi– Hobi said something about that." you mumbled quietly as the man's lips ghosted your cheek.

"Yeah?"

You gave him a little nod as he pushed the hair off your neck. You held onto his shirt, eyes closed and mind a little dizzy.

"H–he said I… Smell good."

"It's not just good, little human." Namjoon dove against your neck nosing at your skin as you pressed your legs together and threw your head back. "I have never smelled someone so sweet. Human or wolf."

I'm sure you taste just as sweet too, he thought as he licked the soft skin of your neck.

"Joon–"

You were panting, but didn't push him off. And if the new smell he could scent in the air was anything to go by, you were enjoying it a lot.

Namjoon kept kissing your neck, teeth scraping over the patch of skin that would hold a mate mark, should you be able to take one. You were letting out soft mewls and your arousal was evident in the air between you.

It would be so easy to get carried away, to lay you down on the floor and make you feel really good, but he couldn’t. Not when his ears were picking up movement on the inside of the house, and not if he wanted to avoid a fight within the pack.
