One of the most helpful videos ever made for everyone who wants to get into whisky ( I would add to any other spirits). I started in 2020 with a forgotten bottle of Grants that was hidden behind other bottles in a closet. Before that I had no experience with whisky at all. Now I already bought more than 100 bottles.

Absolutely love these lecture style videos with a chalk board! Thanks for pointing out that we need at least one bottle of bad whisky in our stash! I have been recently disappointed by two bottles that I have bought and opened, namely the Talisker Port Ruighe and the Penderyn Madeira, the port finish of the former is nearly absent (in my memory it was much better back when I tasted it in a Parisian bar ;)) and the madeira finish of the latter is way too intense (IMO). So I moved these bottles to the very back of my cupboard and will continue enjoying some classic single malts like Balblair 12yo and Kilkerran 12yo without those fancy cask finishes!

Hello Ralfy! I have been a long time viewer of your channel. I got initiated into scotch a decade ago after watching your videos and attending a tasting. But I didn't make much progress and I have come back after a while. I have been enjoying Arran 10, PC10, and Amrut Fusion. Thanks for your suggestions. Also nice philosophy, I guess, I'm somewhere between discovery and enquiry stage currently. It'll be wonderful if you can make a video especially for those at that stage, single malts you recommend to expand our range of palate and experience. Also, which Scallywag are you enjoying? 😜
