Plan For Vol. 6, and the Year to Come

TL:DR Not taking a break between Vol. 5 and Vol. 6, I'm going to be at LitRPG Con in Denver.

So remember how I said my habit going forward was going to be I take a week off between volumes? Yeah, I'm not doing that this time, because of, essentially, story arcs.

Vol. 5 was about bringing a bunch of pretty major storylines and themes to a, yanno, certain point. This is for both Tian and the people around him, since the MC doesn't exist in a vacuum. There is one, pretty goddamn major thing left outstanding at the end of Vol. 5, and I knew how I wanted to get there, but it would mean making Vol. 5 way, way too long and make the pacing very wierd. Like, unpleasantly wierd.

Solution? Go straight to Vol. 6. Take the opportunity to do a bit of worldbuilding, give our guys a peek into realms beyond those they know, and complete that major arc. So that's what we are going to do.

Why am I not taking the week off? I don't feel I need it to get my head straight about what should be in Vol. 6, I feel like I just had a break, and honestly? The last vacation left me unpleasantly stressed. Which, I grant you, is weird, but it is what it is. So I'm pressing straight on. Vol. 5 wraps this coming weekend, Vol. 6 starts on the Monday after. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

Speaking of appearences, I'm going to be going to LitRPG Con in Denver. I won't have books to sign, but I will have posters. More on that in a future post. No idea what panels I will be on, but I signed up for a bunch of catagories, so we shall see.

Please do come if you are interested, and I will probably enjoy meeting you all, but don't take it the wrong way if I just... don't show up for the social events. I'm not mad, I'm not being snobbish, but I will be socially exhausted. If you don't see me, I'm sitting quietly in my room reading or writing.

Not to be a steriotype of an author, but I'm comfortable with quiet, satisfied with solitude, and I like staying low. This is almost certainly the only convention I will be going to this year, and I'm treating it as a sort of test for whether going to any cons ever is a worthwhile thing. I know a lot of authors swear by them, but... my picture in my books is the same logo I use on my Patreon which is a cartoon rat. To say I'm not interested in the limelight would be an understatement. Been there, done that, it wrecked my health physically and mentally, no more.

The problem is, I have really turned into a recluse. Like, to the point where even I think it's a problem. It's getting worse, too. In the winter, it's easy to find reasons to not get out of the house at all. I tire very quickly in social settings, even with people I have known for years and like very much. It's not good, and nothing changes unless I make a change. So... I'm going to try it. Just please understand if I can't hang with you guys in the bar in the evenings.

Other irons in the fire, will announce them when they are ready to be pulled out and beaten into something useful. Beyond just posters, I mean. (Announcement to come on that one, likely in the next month or so.) (I keep writing and deleting teasers, but the fact is, it's not even ready for a pre-announcement teaser, so what's the damn point.)

More to come in the months ahead. And as always, thank you so much for being readers. I really couldn't do all this without you.

You forgot “tea” 😋

I was just thinking the other day how much I want a signed poster for Sky Pride. How fortuitous. In other news, should I cosplay as Burning Heaven?

I would love to buy a poster!

Happy to hear Book 6 is already on the way. I hope Denver goes well for you with whatever amount of peopling seems appropriate. Tea, incidentally, helps with both socializing and decompressing from socializing. Just sayin'.

Warby, you are my favorite workaholic. As for sociability, it's less frequently appealing than when I was younger. The older I get, the more I hermit.

EvilLittleThing

Working on it. Right now I'm focused on quality control. I really don't want to send out anything shoddy.

So, I heavenly realm the end of volume 5 or the focus of volume 6?

I can't make it to Denver, but we can both avoid the stress of a potential future meeting if you want to sell me a poster online....
