Hex, a feared sorcerer in the Ben 10 universe, commands dark magic with centuries of experience. His power comes from innate skill and mystical artifacts, especially the Charms of Bezel, controlling fire, lightning, and wind. Unlike Ben Tennyson’s foes, who use technology or strength, Hex uses arcane knowledge, making him dangerous.

His calm demeanor hides ruthless ambition; he seeks power through forbidden tomes like the Archamada Book of Magic. Hex believes in magic's supremacy over science, viewing himself as a rightful ruler of mystical power. Often stopped by Ben, his persistence and near-immortality make him a constant threat, reinforcing magic's role in the Ben 10 universe.

Ben should've known Hex would show up. Of course, he would target the Archamada Book of Magic.

Civilians near Ben start to freak out, wondering what’s going on, how they are stuck on the ceiling.

"What is happening?"

"I can't move!"

Laura struggles, her claws scraping against the ceiling, but she can’t get free. "Damn it!" she mutters.

Ben wastes no time, smacking the Chaquetrix. He's about to dial up an alien when the levitation spell breaks. Everyone plummets toward the hard museum floor.

"Ah, crap!" Ben yells.

He slams the watch, and a familiar blue blur materializes. "SK8, go, go, go!"

But SK8 doesn't need to be told twice. Her Kineceleran brain processes the situation instantly. No directions, no hesitation, just pure speed and instinct. She snatches one of the massive banners hanging from the ceiling. With practiced ease, she knots one end securely to a support beam. The rest of the banner becomes an improvised slide, angling down toward the ground.

"Everyone, this way!" SK8 yells, already guiding a terrified kid towards the makeshift exit.

People start to slide down the banner, some screaming, others laughing nervously. Laura, freed from the ceiling, helps those who are scared. Max and Gwen take control, guiding the last of the panicking museum-goers to safety.

As the last person lands safely, SK8 gives Ben a cheeky grin. "Saved ya, Kid!"

Ben claps SK8 on the shoulder, relieved. "Nice one, SK8. You saved everyone."

Ben activates his Omni-Exo armor. The metallic ring on his finger expands, encasing him in sleek fuchsia and gunmetal plating. The Chaquetrix emblem on his chest glows a soft pink, ready for action. Laura’s claws extend, glinting menacingly under the museum lights. She crouches slightly, ready to pounce.

Max steps forward, his voice firm. "Be careful, you two. We don't know what tricks he has up his sleeve."

SK8, ever the smartass, rolls her eyes behind her visor. "Please, Grandpa Max, a dusty old wizard? I can take him before he even finishes saying 'abracadabra'."

With a burst of speed, SK8 dashes toward Hex, a streak of blue against the backdrop of priceless artifacts.

Hex doesn’t flinch. He raises his staff, the gem atop glowing with malevolent energy. With a flick of his wrist, a torrent of fire erupts from the staff’s tip, the charm of fire around his neck blazing. The flames lash out, forcing SK8 to skid to a halt, narrowly avoiding being engulfed.

“Show off,” Laura mutters, impressed despite herself.

Hex cackles, his red eyes fixated on SK8. He twirls his staff, and a barrage of crimson energy spikes shoots towards the speedster. SK8 weaves and dodges, her agility on full display, but the spikes keep coming, each one narrowly missing her.

Ben sees an opportunity. He reaches for his gauntlet, pulling out a flash bomb. "Heads up, Hex!"

He hurls the flash bombs, and they detonate in a blinding burst of light and sound. Hex cries out, momentarily disoriented. Ben seizes the chance, launching himself forward. He grapples Hex, using the Omni-Exo’s enhanced strength to slam the sorcerer against a display case.

Ben slams Hex against the display case, the glass shattering under the force. But before Ben can follow up, Hex chants, " Levitato Corpus! " using the Charm of Telekenesis.

Suddenly, Ben feels an invisible force yanking him away. He flies backward, crashing into a pillar with a resounding thud.

Laura, seeing her opening, moves with feral grace. She closes the distance between herself and Hex in a heartbeat, claws extended, ready to strike. But Hex is quicker. He mutters another incantation, and his feet lift off the ground. He floats upward, easily evading Laura’s attack.

" Expulso! " Hex shouts, firing a blast of arcane energy at Laura.

The force of the blast slams into her, sending her hurtling backward. She slams against a wall, the impact stealing her breath. She slides to the floor, momentarily stunned.

Hex lands gracefully, his eyes burning with anger. "Insects! You dare interfere with my pursuit of knowledge and power?"

He raises his staff, preparing to unleash another spell, more potent than the last. But before he can utter a single syllable, a blur of blue shoots past.

SK8, using her incredible speed, has run up a nearby wall, defying gravity. She launches herself from the wall, her momentum carrying her towards Hex. With a satisfying crack, her foot connects with Hex’s jaw.

The force of the kick sends Hex sprawling. He crashes to the ground, his staff clattering beside him. SK8 doesn’t give him a chance to recover. She’s a whirlwind of motion, her wheels humming as she circles the fallen sorcerer.

Hex struggles to his feet, disoriented, but SK8 is already upon him. A jab to the ribs, a kick to the shin, a swift uppercut—she’s attacking from every conceivable angle, her movements too fast for the eye to follow.

Hex, unable to defend himself against the onslaught, stumbles backward. A final, well-aimed kick sends him crashing into a display case, his body crumpling amidst shards of glass and scattered artifacts. He lies motionless, unconscious.

SK8, breathing heavily, strikes a confident pose over Hex’s prone form. "And that, old man, is how it's done."

Ben and Laura approach SK8, who is still striking a pose over Hex.

"Not bad, SK8," Ben says, a grin spreading across his face. "You really put that old wizard in his place."

SK8 swivels her head, her blue skin flushing a lighter shade. "Pfft, it was nothin', Kid. I'm always this awesome. He just wasn't ready for the SK8-attack." Despite her nonchalant tone, a hint of pride shines through her voice.

Ben glances down at Hex, who is still out cold. Around the sorcerer’s neck hang several Charms of Bezel. An idea sparks in Ben's mind. He kneels, unclasps each charm, and pockets them. Better to have them than let Hex cause more trouble, and these are really strong.

Laura raises an eyebrow. "What are you doing with those?"

Ben shrugs, avoiding her gaze. "Can't just leave them here, right? Who knows what some other idiot could do with them." He tries to sound casual, but even to his own ears, it sounds like a weak excuse.

His eyes drift to the Archamada Book of Magic, lying open nearby. It’s too risky to leave the book with the museum, with their security. Besides, the place is trashed. He grabs it, too, tucking it under his arm.

"And the book?" Laura asks, her voice laced with concern.

"Same deal," Ben replies, his voice gaining confidence. "This thing's too dangerous to be left unguarded. I'll keep it safe."

SK8 tilts her head, studying Ben with a knowing look. "So, what's the plan, Kid? Gonna become a wizard yourself?"

Ben shakes his head, a genuine smile returning to his face. "Nah, magic's not really my thing. But... I know someone who might be interested." He thinks of Gwen, her sharp mind and growing potential. This is just the thing that can kick start her magic career, if she wants it.

"I just feel like it's better if these things are under our watch, you know?" Ben says. He is not sure who he is convincing, Laura or himself.

Laura’s voice is soft, but her words cut through Ben’s bravado. "You’re giving it to Gwen?"

Ben meets her gaze, his expression sincere. "Yeah. She's the smartest person I know. If anyone can figure this stuff out, it's her." He glances at the Archamada, tucked securely under his arm. "And besides, maybe it’s something she’ll actually want to do."

With a final nod, the trio exits the museum. A crowd has gathered outside, their faces etched with relief. They erupt in cheers as Ben, Laura, and SK8 emerge. SK8 grins, basking in the attention.

After handing the unconscious Hex over to the authorities, they piled into the Rustbucket and drove off, leaving the chaotic museum behind.

Gwen sulks in her seat, arms crossed, staring out the window. The adrenaline from the fight with Hex has faded, leaving behind a lingering sense of unease. She can’t shake the feeling that she’s just… ordinary. Powerless. Ben, with his Omni-Exo and a legion of alien summons, and even Laura, with her lethal claws, can take care of themselves, but what can she do?

"What’s with the long face?" Ben asks, turning from the driver's seat. "I thought you liked museums."

Gwen scoffs. "Easy for you to say, Mr. Super-Powered Hero. I was just standing there, watching you and Laura save the day. Again."

Ben sighs, recognizing the familiar sting of Gwen’s insecurities. He rummages in his pocket, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Well, maybe this will cheer you up. I’ve got a surprise."

"What?" Gwen asks, her tone skeptical.

Ben holds out his hands, revealing the Charms of Bezel. His other hand reveals the Archamada Book of Magic. "Ta-da!"

Gwen's eyes widen. "Where did you…?"

"I got them from the wizard guy," Ben replies with a wink.

Gwen stares at the artifacts in Ben’s hands, her expression a mix of disbelief and excitement. "Did you… steal them?"

Ben winks. "I won't tell if you won't." He gently places the charms and the book in Gwen’s lap. "Here. They’re yours."

Gwen stares at him, mouth agape. "Really? I can… really have them? You’re not just doing this so that I can get arrested?"

Ben feigns offense. "Do you not trust me that much?" He turns serious. "Gwen, I've noticed you've been in the dumps lately. I thought maybe these would help. Besides, you’re the only one I trust with this stuff."

A blush creeps up Gwen’s neck, tinting her cheeks a rosy pink. "Thanks, Ben," she whispers, her voice uncharacteristically soft.

Ben smiles, relieved. "Anytime, Gwen."
