An interesting episode! I don't have any to go things at all, and living in Australia and the UAE I have never felt the threat of potentially needing anything...the idea that you would need a gun to defend yourself from anything is a foreign concept to me as an exceptionally low and almost non existent risk in both countries. A first aid kit may be necessary in my car now I am back in Aus.
