Building a "Better" Trump White House

Thought you guys might want to read (and discuss) this article, my latest for NYT opinion, on the rival think tanks vying to serve as Trump's "White House-in-waiting." Matt and I will be discussing this piece and various conservative transition plans, like the Heritage Foundations "Project 2025," on an upcoming episode.
Now that Trump is truly the presumptive nominee (...) it probably makes sense to talk about what exactly another Trump presidency might look like — and what the conservative movement wants from him, and vice versa, this time around.

It certainly seems feasible to maneuver around Trump on "boring" policies he doesn't care about as long as while doing so, they remain sycophantic. He would largely be much more tuned out I gather on anything non-retributive or politics-as-spectacle related

Yes Sam’s is a more nuanced and realistic take on the Sch F panic sweeping many sane Americans including me. Just what I look for from Mr. Adler-Bell!

Wanted to request a discussion on Project 2025 but assumed you two would get to it, of course! Could you discuss Schedule F more (Sam's article is the first I heard of it) - the likelihood it would be reinstantiated (or it a google tells me there's maybe a subsequent HR bill to block this) and if you feel there are broader implications given both the increase in gig/IC employment and well as the potential overturning of the Chevron doctrine case at the Supreme Court. Maybe interpreting it incorrectly, but feels like one of the scarier takeaways for me: pushing people at all levels into deeper precarity/reliance on courts and Trump appointees.

Very good op-ed piece. Trump is so notoriously avaricious that it's hard to believe that both the Heritage Foundation and A.F.P.I. didn't take that into account when making appeals for donations. I do wonder whether Trump's inexorable slide into dementia is going to throw a monkey wrench into everyone's plans, including those of the Trump campaign. At this point, I can't see him being able to manage a one-on-one debate with Biden. His MAGA base may not care whether he debates during the primaries, but that won't give him enough votes to get elected.

"Big Dick Toilet Guy" would be a good title for a farcical recounting of this entire period of American history. (-Sam)

The vibe is truly shaping up to be a mish-mash of Ian Kershaw's "working towards the Führer" thesis combined with the clownishness of Veep.
Maybe they can bring back that fellow who was AG for a hot second who I think Jamelle Bouie described as "big dick toilet guy" because he had a patent on toilets for the well endowed gentleman....
