Celestria warily kept her eyes on Nedrie, her newest threat yet.⁣

“No. I don’t. Is there a particular reason?”⁣

“There is. And it’s quite important.”⁣

Somehow, this conversation didn’t feel comfortable. It felt suffocating, almost crushing.⁣

“And you know why?”⁣

“Oh, I 𝐝𝐨.”⁣

“Then please do explain.”⁣

At this, Nedrie sat back, his smile disgustingly smug. “Well, it’s very simple. People were not designed to be around Lord for long periods of time. He’s a being that should only be experienced once or twice in a human life.”⁣

Celestria’s face scrunched slightly. What did he mean by that? “What does Lord have to do with this?”⁣

The eyes that Nedrie fixed on her were amused, yet deeply frightening. “I’ve tested it before. How long a human can last with constant contact to Lord. How long they could endure Profound Fear. From young to old, healthy to weak, unyielding to weak-willed. And do you know what happened?”⁣

Goosebumps were erupting on Celestria’s skin, her breathing more conscious. Nedrie gave a disconcerting smile.⁣

“The very strongest lasted thirty-two days. You are unique in that you are the first human to be able to talk to my Lord, but your body is still human.
