The Incident

Alas!!! It’s time to talk about The Incident! A pivotal point in making Nicky the way he currently is.

During his last year of highschool, Nicky and his baseball team were doing amazing at nationals with Nicky as the pitcher. In previous stories I’d said that Chris couldn’t infliltrate his baseball team cos they were some really tight bros but that was… fully true. There’s always a weak link. Nobody knew this but apparently, Chris had “befriended” a boy called Simon in the team. Simon was a really very jealous boy. He too was a pitcher but was clearly overshadowed by Nicky.

A lot of things happened in Chris’ life, including some… confusing feelings (indeed, he is a teenager. It’s a confusing time) and after a whole year of goading Simon on and on, he offhandedly compared him to Nicky after Simon confessed budding feelings for him! This pushed Simon over the edge, and in turn he pushed Nicky down some stairs on literally the much-awaited day of the finals in the nationals, injuring Nicky and ensuring he couldn’t play in the game he’d been looking forward to :,)

Now, I do have to give a lil context. Chris hadn’t meant to say what he did to Simon. It was an off handed remark that just spilled forth after zoning out and coming back to Simon talking about god knows what and MOST IMPORTANTLY, gave him an entirely unexpected kiss. What happened after though, was that Simon was actually recovering from a pretty nasty cold, and thus, Chris got it. It only occurred to Chris that Simon would do something very bad a few days later. And he DID try to tell Nicky that Simon will do something.

It was hard to believe him tho cos … well, Chris was ridiculously feverish and sick so Nicky just assumed he was talking nonsense. But it did make him a little nervous. The most important thing though, is that he chose to TRUST Simon, his teammate. Chose to trust him over what Chris was saying just as how he THOUGHT Simon believed in his character over the rumors that Chris had polluted the school with. And it was because his trust was betrayed so terribly that Nicolas… kind of shattered. The person he was up till now was just irrevocably broken. His home was not his home, he couldn’t trust his closest friends. He felt so alone. And as such he just… retreated. Choosing instead to run away. Run far far far away. And so, Sofia and Chris had succeeded in their mission to ruin Nicky :,)
