Vainglory

Known as Mother’s first son, the first Sin that came into existence, Vainglory.

He is not like the paltry Harbingers that Mother enlists to do her bidding, no. Vainglory is Pride itself. He was never human, and is the oldest “Harbinger” to exist. Don’t call him a Harbinger tho lol, he WILL kill you.

Vainglory is … different. He is the only Sin that wants to kill Mother and take her throne as the progenitor of Sin. He is Pride, after all. His only desire is to stand atop everything and everyone. It’s where he fully believes he resides.

As a result, Vainglory messes up the very careful balance that the powers of Sin and the powers of Virtue maintain. He doesn’t care about anyone or anything so he was ruining everything. He is the reason that Sins and Virtues have a temporary alliance in things pertaining to him.

At a certain point, Vainglory was too big a problem to ignore so Mother and the Governor of Virtues teamed up to seal him. He is not human so he can’t really be killed. And ever since then, every 600 years approximately, Vainglory awakens and causes havoc in his attempt to be the master of all.

Now, him as a … an individual. He’s very strange. He’s quiet because he finds the need to communicate to beings lower than him to be beneath him. He’s very intelligent because he believes he’s the smartest person ever. Attracts people inexplicably cos he believes he’s the finest thing to ever exist. Existing around him is always a gamble. Will he leave you be or will your very existence offend him so greatly he finds that it needs to be erased completely to be necessary? We never know! If there’s one thing he enjoys is adorning himself in the finest of fabrics and jewelry, keeping his hair, nails and skin clean and neat, and compliments. He has kept plenty of people alive because they’ve sung his praises.

Hovever. Vainglory is not a one-dimensional character. Just as Mother should be nothing but Sin but is more than that, Vainglory (who came from her) possesses some characteristics that are not fully Prideful. For example, for whatever unknown reason, he likes kids and treats them normally. This could be a strange, philosophical thing because children are a bit too young to understand the concepts of pride or whatever, or maybe they are so naturally prideful that he finds it charming, nobody knows. But he likes kids and will play with them whenever he can. There are many other things but we won’t get into it.
