RJ Ramblings

Hey everybody! It's a new week already? The last week seems to have passed in a blur. I sat here at the desk, struggling to remember what I've been doing the last week.

I've been working a lot, so there's that. But what did I do outside of work that's worth talking about in a ramblings? Hm.. well, I got some dental work done. That sucked. We watched a couple older adventure movies that I'd never seen. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was genuinely horrible. I had a hard time sitting through that one. The 13th Warrior, however, was very good, and I kinda loved it. Afterwards, Mango and I were talking about how apparently nobody liked The 13th Warrior when it came out. It got bad reviews and it flopped hard. But now, a simple adventure movie with practical effects and interesting ideas seems to just be better by default than a lot of the CGI-filled, hollow, bland adventure films that come out these days. It was  loads better than the Tomb Raider movies or Uncharted or anything like that. It did really make me itch for a new Tomb Raider game though!

I spent a few nights this week working on side projects and future games. Two nights I played around in Unreal engine, setting up the coding for a possible future game and just learning more of the engine. Another night I sat and wrote about 3000 words on a future game. I've been enjoying that a lot actually, working on Come Home during my normal hours (from 8am to 3pm every day). Then working on my side projects at night.

Aside from that, my mind has been really focused on camping and hiking. I went on a couple of solo hikes, because my partner has been kinda sick all week. I took my dog, Peluche, on one of them, and he was such a good hiking partner. I'll be taking him on more in the future. We're planning our next camping trip as well, which we might do next week, assuming I can make the time and the weather cooperates.

Those who follow my ramblings and know me will know that I have a lot of issues with anxiety. There have been weeks, almost months, in the past that I haven't left the house, because going to the grocery store or the park or anywhere there is people makes me very anxious. I feel like these hikes have been helping with that immensely. I've been feeling way more comfortable outside than I have in a long time. I even went to the grocery store yesterday, for the first time in like... probably 5 months or so. And while I still felt anxious, it wasn't as bad as it has been and was actually pretty nice, overall.

Anyways, that's what's been going on with me. Hope you all have an amazing week! Thanks for all the support you give me! Love ya!

Puppeh! Also, well done on pushing back on the anxiety, I know firsthand what a big deal that is.

Hugs to both you and Mango. Peluche will have to settle with a scratch behind the ear.
