RJ Ramblings

Hey everybody!

This last week was pretty good and uneventful again. I've been happy most days. I'm really excited about the game right now, because we're getting close to release, and making it has been really fun recently. So most of my time has been spent working on it.

Outside of working on the game, my life has mostly been just like, watching TV and reading comics.

My partner and I have been watching Dateline pretty much every day at lunch. I discovered a podcast called "A Date with Dateline" and I adore it. I've been listening to it a lot while I work on renders, then watching episodes of Dateline that the podcast has covered during my lunches.

In the evenings, my partner and I usually watch like 2 hours of something. This last week, we've been watching Stranger Things (season 4) and Bosch (season 1). I was mostly enjoying this seasons of stranger things - the first couple episodes and then the 4th episode are great - but now it feels like it's spinning it's wheels a lot and became just super boring to me. We have one episode left of the ones that have been released, and we'll be watching it tonight.

Bosch is a show that I've been wanting to watch for a while, because I love gritty detective stuff, and this show is like perfect for the style that I like. It's great. We're like 5 episodes into the first season right now, and every episode has been fantastic. Really enjoying it.

On Friday, we've been watching Joe Bobs Last Drive-In on Shudder, which is a horror double feature hosted by Joe Bob Briggs, who I've liked forever. We've been doing these horror double features since they started them on Shudder, years ago now, and it's something my partner and I always look forward to. Last Friday they showed The Monster Club, which I'm surprised I'd never even heard of - it was a fun little anthology movie with a silly framing device that I liked quite a bit. The other movie was Hellbender, which is a newer low-budget heavy metal horror movie about witches in the woods. I thought the movie was okay, but the coolest thing about it is that it was made by a family - mother, father, and two daughters. They acted in the movie, they did the music, and three of them directed the movie. Kinda neat that they're able to just put out a movie like that together. Gets some respect from me.

Comic books - I'm reading The King in Black crossover event at Marvel right now (pretty good so far), along with some other books. I read through the first Batgirl and the Birds of Prey trade paperback from 2016, I think (I liked it), I read the first trade for Bitter Root (story didn't grab me, but loved the art), and I read Barbalien: The Red Planet, which is a side story about a character from the Black Hammer comics (which are great), and is one of the best things I've read in a long while. Probably read a bunch of other stuff too that I'm not remember right now. I tend to read like 6-20 comics a day while I'm laying in bed at night, until I fall asleep.

I've been wanting to go on more hikes like what we did when we were in Arkansas. I'm a little out of shape, so I'm worried about going on difficult hikes, but I really want to. I need to start training more to do that. I'm also worried about things like, getting attacked by somebody out in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure what to do about that, besides carrying pepper spray, which I do. Just wish I wasn't so anxious all the time.

I guess that's enough rambling from me. Time to get to work. Hope y'all have a fantastic week! Love ya!

Greetings. "The boys" season 3 is the best show of 2022

Relax about being anxious R.J. Yeah, I know how that sounds. But keep in mind that this is a very anxious time for most of the world right now. To say that times are turbulent would be a gross understatement. I would be more concerned if you weren't anxious. But remember that it's only temporary. If there is one thing I've learned in all of my (too many) years; it's that the Universe has a way of balancing itself out. Not to mention that there are many people in front of and behind the scenes working on making things better. Just stay busy and hang in there and things will calm down soon. Stay awesome!

Your insights on Stranger Things are interesting :)- I wonder at some point if I will be bored during season 4 (?). I've been watching The Boyz on Amazon - def rated R but pretty incredible show.
