Tales From The East - Fandom

Greetings Allies! Today I'm premiering the first episode of Tales From The East. It's a mini-series about the time I spent in Japan. The show will focus on different aspects of the culture that left a big impression on me. For the first episode, I talk about fandom and how I perceive it to be different in Japan than in North America. To illustrate my points, I use footage shot at J-World and Super Potato. J-World is an amusement park centered around popular Shonen Jump characters and Super Potato is a legendary retro game store.

I hope this comes across in the video, but I had an absolutely outstanding time in Japan. It was truly a dream come true. Although the video is rough (it's essentially my first time shooting/editing something like this), I had a blast making it and I can't wait to share more with you.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to all of the EZA patrons because without you this trip wouldn't have been possible.

Love & Respect,

Ben

Ben Moore - You are a great man and this is a great show. Thank you.

Ben Moore!

Great episode Ben! Japan is also one of the places I really would love to visit, the culture has always interested me and I have a huge respect for it, hopefully I can go one day. Also, as a Naruto fan myself I can defenitely understand your love for anime and manga. I agree by the way that it isen't that popular everywhere, I think that in my country (Belgium) it is still looked up on as childish or nerdy for example. Can I ask if you also love "Studio Ghibli" by the way? I truly love those movies and am watching them all. So once Ni No Kuni came out I could not wait and loved every moment of it, now it's the waiting for Ni No Kuni 2 that's killing me. Lastly great Diamond Dogs t-shirt! As a major Metal Gear Solid fan and collector (for example I got all Playstation versions you could think of) I can only applaud your choice here! PS: I am learning some Japanese so I hope I say this right: "Arigatou gozaimasu Ben-san. Otsukaresama deshita".

Great Show Ben! I've been waiting a long time to see a piece of content like this from the Allies.

Great first episode Ben! Thank you

Loved this video, thanks a ton Ben and Allies for this cool trip.

Looks like I'm going to Melrose Ave this weekend...

Easy Allies

If you ever have other vertical footage, please simply put black bars... it was distracting especially when the camera was moving to have the blured section :) You really are lucky, that trip sounded absolutely amazing! Will enjoy all the episodes you create for this! :)

Hugo D Hawk X

Very cool to see HxH and JoJo (plus the rest lol). That copy of golden axe looked in mint condition, kinda hard to believe thinking back to when I played it..... Also really liked the dissolve transition at the beginning, looking fwd to nxt week :)

Manny

Thank you Ben. Loved the video and am looking forward to the next episodes and am hoping they will be a tiny bit longer :)

Great video Ben, love the footage, and I've wanted to go to Japan since I was a teenager, then dropped out of my manga/anime fandom, but jumped back in videogames a few years ago and now I want it more than ever. Also, never knew about J World, seems like a cool park to visit, Thanks, and hope to see more soon. L&R ps : I also didn't have many friends into japanese stuff, and now, none of them are around, so I get your point about feeling isolated in that passion !

Loved this, wish I could've been you man. Been my dream to visit Akihabara, and seek out all the best steak restaurants, video game themed restaurants, game stores, manga, etc. I'd lose myself for weeks and come home completely dirt poor lol. That amusement park was pretty awesome too, the lack of crowds is perfect for someone like me, crowds sometimes trigger a panic attack depending on the situation. Anything DBZ related is totally amazing, I'd feel like a teenager and probably make a complete idiot out of myself gawking at everything. Oh, but if there's anything I could say about the show itself it's that your audio is a bit low. Everything else was just fine! P.S. There's a cat cafe in los angeles now! It's over on Melrose Ave.

ZyloWolfBane

Ben I really love this dude, glad you had a good trip!

Mango

This isn't what I expected, but I loved it. I like the sincere insight and how calm and personal this felt. It's touching for you to open up this much in a video, sharing your real deep-down feelings, and showing us really just how much these experiences meant to you. It's enough to make me tear up. Vibe is very different from most videos you see today, and that's not a bad thing! Excited to see more.

MBUN

Love the series. It's personal, interesting and very chill to watch. Good job on your editing premier as well Ben.

Great job Mr. Moore! Been eagerly awaiting this, you did not disappoint.

I was in japan in September. My wife who is japanese is still there with our children spending time with her family. I am going back in november. While i did not see lots of gaming places i still had lots of fun. We are going to Disneyland when I go back.

Ben! I'm so happy for you! Great work on editing your first video, and great coverage!

Ben DeFever

This is, in a word, jolly. It makes me so happy to see just such a pure celebration

kevattack

What a wonderful show, Ben!! I'm so happy your colleagues understand the importance of putting you in this setting. What an awesome thing yall have going on! I look forward to more!! ...poor camera ghost...

Matt McCarthy

if you haven't watched Gintama, you really need to, it's the best Jump series, no joke

NO - thank you, Ben. It's because of stuff like this which really lets your personalities as content creators shine through rather than all the other fluff (which I thoroughly enjoy as well) I keep Patreoning (is that a word) each month. I really enjoyed GT since I found it, but if it hadn't been for you guys I wouldn't have kept on watching. Seeing stuff like this only reinforces whatever I can give is going to a good thing, and a splendid choice of entertainment.

The world needs more cat cafes.

Alexander Mcloughlin

This was such a great surprise Ben. I have to say, I am in the camp of really preferring the scripted voice over. It was calming in a great way, and allowed me to really settle into taking this trip with you. While I know future videos may allow for the showing of more 'excitement', I felt your sincerity was very appropriate here given how important JWorld seemed to you.

Brandon Patton

I really enjoyed this video Ben! So thank you so much for it! In a bit of contrast to some other comments I've seen, I liked the scripted voice over, and calmer voice. I think it felt appropriate to the video and gave it the travel video diary feel. I loved watching travel diary videoes on tv back in the 80-ies as a kid! L&R

Still so stoked you got to go Ben. I've wanted to go for a long time now and I know I'm going to go eventually, but those cat cafes make me wanna get on a plane TONIGHT!

Naww Ben! I would love to have seen your reaction to these places on camera! If there is footage, don't hesitate putting yourself in there! Japan is one of those places that you don't really get it until your there, in it and being assaulted in the best possible way by it. I have been 4 times and will probably now go every second year for the rest of my life because it just means so much to me (and I have a job and refuse to spend money on a "white picket fence" lifestyle). Looking forward to more of these!! I'm glad you loved it so much! (Superpotato!! <3)

Leah

Super jolly video, Ben! I can't wait for the next one. Some feedback: Maybe do a little introduction (saying hello and welcome etc...) because when the video cuts to you it felt slightly abrupt when you just started right away. Otherwise awesome job for your first time editing.

Olf Himself

Ben! I loved this. Keep'em coming!

Chris Georgaras

Great video Ben. But it's so weird to hear you talk this slowly! (not bad, just strange) L&R

Alex

Good episode. I enjoyed it. Loved seeing all the footage from Japan.

Novus Operandi

"Religious.....experience!"

Adam Mullany

Here's my prediction for one of Ben's embarrassing moments, he tried to leave TIP on a restaurant, now time to wait and see if I'm right.

Eric Estrada

Great stuff Ben!

Joetown

Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see more. Also, every Easy A Video should end with cats.

Mikehook1

This was so jolly and heart warming! Thank you Ben for sharing your experience with us, i'm looking forward to the next episode. This series makes me even more excited for my trip to Tokio in March of next Year. It is a pleasure to support Easy Allies and getting you to Japan was actually something i hoped for the most.

Looking forward to watching this. Thanks for sharing Ben! Glad you had a great time!

Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Moore! I now really want to see Super Potato for myself someday! I can't wait for the next installment and stay Easy fellow Ally!

Brandon K Gann

Saving this for bedtime, I've been waiting for this! Thanks Ben!
