Box Peek Update
Added 2017-08-01 09:38:16 +0000 UTCThe last time I said anything about Box Peek, I promised to give you an update if there were no episodes by August 1st. Since that’s today’s date, it looks like I owe you an update.
We’re frankly not close to the premiere of episode one. I made a couple of dumb errors in my estimations, first among those was assuming that E3 was really not going to be a distraction. But really, I forgot how long good stuff takes to write. Two months ago I thought I would sit down and crank it all out like ten Final Bosman episodes, but writing a whole series at once has been much harder than I imagined. The good news is that the scripts for all ten episodes are done now! (Mostly done!) They’re all 8-10 pages long, so I'd love to make more cuts before production starts. Two months for 90 pages puts me behind your average screenwriter, but I’m still happy with what's there today. Creating a world, defining characters, trying to tell a story and trying to make it funny--it’s the challenge I wanted and I’m still grateful you’ve given me an excuse to do it.
Other updates: This week we’re starting our recording process. I can announce here that accomplished voice actor and honorary Easy Ally Amanda Troop will be doing several characters for Box Peek, including the protagonist. (Please don’t ask for any more details.) I can also announce that FantomenK, who created the EZA Podcast (and de facto Easy Allies) theme, has written the theme song for Box Peek.
I realize it would be cool to let you in on the process--to hear that song, to show you some scripts and maybe sketches of the main characters--but I love too much that it will all be a surprise to everyone. Thanks for humoring me on this.
With that, I’m going dark on Box Peek once again. No release date, no release window, but if on November 1st there is still no Box Peek, I’ll be back to give you another update. When it does come time to premiere the show, I’ll post here to give you a heads-up ahead of it.
Thanks for your patience everyone. I’m definitely stressed, but honestly it’s good to have something to be this stressed about.
