Except there are at least three sexes ... third being intersex. Where (I believe, at least how I perceive it) Ryan says two genders is based on the "gender is a social construct" mantra. Within that mantra, the term matters much less than the traits that make it up. As in, if "F-14 Tomcat" has no substance in terms of gender, it does not hold up as companies cannot create gendered products in that direction (for example). This idea of defining gender by having only the term is probably just confusing gender with personal pronouns. I believe there will be a third gender (and likely fourth, beyond) eventually, but we have yet to coin one with the backing traits (e.g. prefers the colour orange, does not sleep - browses eBay for rest) not reliant on biology (since the first two genders are no longer anyway) and then wait/make-use-of for a decade before it is recognized globally.

A note on the whole "two gender" issue. What confused me for a while is not understanding that gender and sex are no longer synonyms. Sex now refers the the biological assignment of male/female (which most progressives accept to be a binary) and gender is what you identify as (man, woman, F-14 Tomcat).

This "news" seems very biased.
