Anniversary Goal Changes

To celebrate our third anniversary this week, we’re making a few changes to our Patreon. These are intended to give us more freedom in terms of the types of content we’d like to experiment with in the future, while still hopefully providing our Patrons with a lot of the stuff they originally came here to see.

First, we've removed Retrospectives as a goal. We have decided we’re going to save Retrospectives for when the time is right, instead of working to deliver a certain number each year. These have proven to upset our schedule more than any other project, and we all collectively agree we’d be stronger if we didn’t make them a priority. You love them, and we love them, but they’re very difficult to pull off given what this Patreon has evolved into. We may produce them when one ally is 100% on board and able to sacrifice their other projects, or when the timing and subject matter is just too perfect. We also might allocate the time and energy that we’ve previously saved for Retrospectives toward special features unlike anything we’ve produced before. It’s important to us that we have that choice, and our hope is that it translates into cool stuff from us you might not expect. That said, we’ll have some fun Retro news to share very, very soon.

Second, Mysterious Monsters has been removed as a goal and will be going into production immediately. You can see the first episode right now on our YouTube channel, and we’ll be performing a special live edition this Saturday during our 3rd anniversary concert at Tommy’s Place. Following the concert, we will be producing episodes that will be posted monthly.

And third, the Live Guest Show is now our $55,000 goal. This is another project that we’re desperate to start, but it will require more resources before we can make it a reality. It’s designed to showcase more functionality from our studio space, and that will take time to develop, just as this Patreon has taken time to grow. As we test new equipment and upgrade our new space, we’ll give you a clearer picture of what this show will be like.

That’s it for now! None of this would be possible without the support of each and every one of you, and your comments continue to shape our vision for this Patreon. As our channels keep expanding, it’s important that we’re doing the jobs we want to do, by creating stuff you want to see.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Allies! Thank you for helping us get here.

All around, 3 good choices. You have my support. Thanks, Allies.

I'd be bummed with Retrospectives if you guys said you were never doing them again, but just taking them off goals so you're not obligated to crank them out, regardless of quality and everything else going on at the time, seems like an intelligent decision I can get behind. All I'll say is that since you didn't replace that goal with anything else when you took Retrospectives out of it, I expect going forward something to fill that gap as Mysterious Monsters currently is slated to. Since it is just starting, I'm sure it will for the foreseeable future, but if Huber and Ian ever tire of running a gameshow, I do expect something else to fill that financial gap as it was once a lofty goal people worked towards. What that specific thing ends up being I will leave to yall however. I trust you'll continue to give the people something worth their investment. I hope EZA continues to grow and smashes that GT Live style goal as that show was great in the past, and I'd love to have something similar back. Then you guys can add some new goals, like Gundam Streams perhaps? ;)

Glad retrospectives were removed, too much work for the amount of return; a holdover from GT days that never fit as well. Can't wait to see what this "retro" related project/show is though!

It's so crazy because I was actually thinking about retros this week and almost wrote into Cup of Jones about it. Don't get me wrong, I love your retros, but it felt like a goal that was made with GT in mind, purely because you didn't know what EZA would become. More than anything I'm just excited when y'all do something different and try new things that wouldn't have flown at GT, like the game show. At 3 years, I'd say you've more than earned the ability to move on from it and am more than ok with the goal changing. We're just gonna need a new 58k goal to look forward to.

I completely agree with removing retrospectives. It should be something that’s done once in a blue moon when one of the Allies the personal need to make it happen rather than some monthly timetable.

Taking out retrospectives is a good idea - you've managed two in three years.

Is the live guest still a weekly thing?

Good on you guys! These all sound like perfectly reasonable and smart decisions. It's been so much fun watching you guys grow and Mysterious Monsters is such a damn treat! Thanks for all the fun stuff and keep on doing what you are all doing <3 L&R

I think these are great changes, you looked at what’s best and they were too time consuming and With the amount of content you guys produce and Mysterious Monsters debuting I see a great future for you guys! Keep up the great work!

Mysterious Monster is very good. Exciting to see the different guests and eventual (possible) TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS. All Times Greatest Heroes Edition. Hyped. Also removing Retros was a good move.

I loved Mysterious Monsters. Im not just saying that, I mean it. That show was top notch. 10/10

I would have liked a new original show debuting after fancy Fifteen

Ibrahim Sozer

Fine with the retrospective. Seemed like it was more stress than it was worth

Mysterious Monsters is AMAZING !!!

I am actually really okay losing the retrospective, they seem way to time intensive and I agree you guys can put those resources to better things. Plus they seem like a bit of relic of the past when video on the internet first started out. Best wishes and here's to the allies!

Yep. I'm down. No problem with losing retrospective as a goal since we get Mysterious Monsters for free. Mysterious Monsters is far too jolly of an idea to shackle it to a paywall. I also am sure that far too much work has gone into it for it's resources to go potentially unused. The Monster is free. It has trampled the retrospectives, and from the aniversary on it shall nevermore know any prison. It will be great. It will be terrifying. And we shall love it.
