I'm here to write the anti-comment. Broadly I agree that America has some fucked-up perspective on violence and sex - I wouldn't let my kids watch God of War at all. However, I understand especially not wanting to play the analog stick cunnilingus minigame with my children. And generally, I am always here for Kyle mocking the comments. I pay $10 a month to EZA because during E3 last year I was consistently entertained by their reactions. It was like watching the conferences with friends, pathetic as that sounds. I trust them to do good stuff with my money and so far they've delivered (I watched Achieve It Yourself and Mysterious Monsters back to back last night). Whatever's got Ian away is important, so I'm not mad the switcher isn't being used right now. I do miss Ian, though. Star Wars Episode III for the Playstation 2 was really fun. It was basically a fighter with Star Wars characters. What's not to like?

Hey Kyle - just want to say maybe i'm in the minority, but understood the context of your sex update. You did state that most comments were talking about it in a general sense and you meant it made you feel awkward in that specific setting. Kyle is the "sex guy" after all. Loved the bit at the end! :)

and it really seems to be a cultural difference. I remember when "Manhunt" got released, it instantly got indexed (banned for putting it on shelfs/selling to people under 18/showing commercials) in Germany. On the other hand when "BMX XXX" got released it wasn't a big deal. In the US it basically was the opposite.

The fact that an implied sex scene or sexual content in a video game is so off putting and uncomfortable for people, while extreme violence feels normal.... IS the problem, Kyle. The whole point is that it shouldn't feel strange to see sexual content and the violence ought to make us feel more uncomfortable.

The gore in the recent Mortal Kombat games is pretty different from God of War in terms of how detailed it is, and how accurate to human anatomy it is. Most of the violence in God of war is against monsters, and the violence against humans is significantly toned down compared to most of the MK11 fatalities.

the correct answer about sex vs gore is: i dont want my very young kid to see ultra violence or explicit sex. period. there are like a thousand more appropriate games to play with your kid. it's basically like saying: "i'm so glad they toned down the sexism in the new Mortal Kombat. Finally save to rip some spines with my little Jimmy", while even the developers get PTSD from it.

I feel personally that my money is to help these great people do things they want. They don't use us anything. Just my opinion of course I want Ian back in the sattle but I didn't invest anything I'm simply supporting. :)

As an artist nudity vs. images of violence has been the heart of many online discussion. In my younger years I would fight for the inclusion and acceptance of more nudity in art. As an adult my thoughts and feelings have changed, I've also had two kids. Violence is generally depicted in Media as Good Guys vs Bad Guys where good guys win. This is a moral fantasy that isn't present very often in real life and thus has a justification that can be explored with little to no effect on a child or teenagers mind. Sexuality on the other hand is a completely different matter. Sex is a very real and dangerous thing if media depicts it in a way that isn't respectful of all parties. Take God of war where sex is used as an objective and a reward. This isn't a positive depiction of something very real in the world. Curious young minds look for answers and largely learn from peers and media for answers to these questions. We are raised knowing violence is bad, and that depictions of violence are for entertainment and is ethically justified based on context. Which is why when real world violence (no one is a good guy) is shown it's never meant for kids. In short sex depicted by media is a dangerous thing to show someone who doesn't have a clear foundation for what it is in the frost place. It can show sex as a conquest, a reward and can reinforce objectification and other REAL negative sexual stereotypes. Fantasy violence is usually justified morally as good vs. bad and is rarely meant to explore a real world situation. Teens can get pregnant, spread stds, and hurt one another in sexual ways as this is a real world situation. Teens aren't engaging in violent campaigns to defeat evil. (They might but it's very rare comparatively.)

Yeah I get the impression that a lot of people wanted to make a point regardless of the specific scenario this particular father was in. If you want me to say "sex good, gore bad" in next week's corrections I'll go ahead and do that so you can get your argument across.
