Hall of Greats Tiebreaker Poll

Here we are again. If you haven't seen this week's Hall of Greats, there is still time:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vBHZYafUjI

---

The rest of us know that we have our first-ever three-way tie for most votes. This means, according to the longstanding rules of the Hall of Greats, that you, the patrons, must break this tie, deciding which two of these games will gain entrance. Before things get too salty I want to make clear that you're choosing two winners, not one loser. Please vote only for the game that you believe most deserves the title of Great.

Comments

Congratulations to TLOU and The Witcher 3!

There is another tie lol We have to do it again where Witcher gets in and the other 2 have to be voted on!

Of all the games presented, the last of us is the only one I have played, so it's the only one I can vote for... had it being a pool of games I had never played, I would have given it to Phantasy Star Online, Ben's presentation was terrific.

César Villa

One thing has kind of been nagging at me about Hall of Greats. I really think it should be ALL videos or NO videos. Having someone give a speech vs playing a prerecorded video with music and effects is a totally different feeling.

Jay Rutley

I LOVE The Last of US!!

Sorry PSO, but the other two are greats I can’t deny haha.

MODEYV2

Haven't played any of these ^^; but Ben totally sold me on PSO, and made me want to play it. So I voted for that one.

MarziiBarks

Ben, I was there and for anyone who was, PSO is the easy answer. All three are Greats, but PSO was so ahead of its time. My time spent playing PSO was simply more enjoyable then the time I spent with Witcher 3 and Last of Us which is a huge statement.

I feel like I would be betraying Ben if I didn't vote for PSO especially after the E3 Betrayal

Kyle said it perfectly: Ben went personal in the best way, and you just wish you could’ve been there when he got to play PSO. It reminded me of how great that game was for me, and how much it meant to me and some of m friends. I know that the other two will get into the Hall of Greats because they both ARE greats, but I gotta seize this opportunity to cast a vote on something that might not ever make it this far again

RiggsRay

"as a working adult" calm down mate.

See You When I Get There

Witcher 3 has been robbed in Hall of Greats before so letting it in is the decent thing to do. Check out episode #5, it's the infamous "Dungeons and Dragons" episode. Brad brought Resident Evil 4 but wasn't there himself. Since you're not allowed to vote for your own game, RE4 got huge advantage. This loophole has been since corrected: if you´re not present to vote', you can't bring a game. Long story short, RE4 won and Witcher 3 was third. And no one has brought Witcher 3 since. It seems that this wrong is now corrected. So, my hat's off for you fellow Allies and the Witcher 3. The only game i've spent over 200 hours in. It´s good to get some more western (and newer) games into the Hall of Greats.

the_finnish_ally

My issue with The Witcher 3? It's too long, and it can get very intimidating to start the game. As a working adult, it can be hard to begin a long game like this and then return to it when you have forgotten the story and the plot elements. Also, the combat, at least on PC, when I played it, is just not intuitive and along with the use of potions, the gameplay can get quite complicated with keyboard and mouse controls. I didn't play Phantasy Star Online, so I can't vote on this game. And then we have The Last of Us. From the introduction to the end, the game surprises you every step of the way. Whether it be the story, the gameplay, or the atmosphere, or even the marvelous score by Gustavo Santaolalla, every aspect of this game screams perfection, or close to it. It is also evident by the numerous perfect 10's it got on release, the numerous GOTY awards it got that year. So yeah, for me, between these three games, The Last of Us gets the vote. I am just surprised it took this long for such an acclaimed game to make it to the Hall of Greats. About time, great pick by Huber and an excellent presentation too, incorporating Huber Syndrome into it as well. Very nicely done, Huber! Now, if the 3-way included BioShock and The Last of Us? That would've been an even harder decision for me. Both games redefined their genres and gaming in their ways. BioShock with the ludonarrative dissonance and the use of motion capture in The Last of Us, to bring a next-level-esque aspect to character design and implementation in gaming. The Last of Us, definetely felt like a next-gen game when it released on PS3 at the end of its life cycle. But that discussion for BioShock vs. The Last of Us can be had at a later time. I digress.

Well, under some other circumstances I would vote PSO in. To me the whole list was great, I mean almost an 8-way tie. The Last of Us and Witcher 3 still top it tho (as far as games go, FFVII would be tied three). And thank you Huber! Ian, you such a troll.

...none of those

potato potato also another potato

Got my PSO vote in. Keeping the dream alive!

Steven Sell

How is witcher 3 not in the hall of greats yet?..it is the best video game ever made

PSO was so much fun! I have great memories of playing this game on my old purple lunchbox! Lol

Sending love to PSO, my first online experience and it was such great fun.

became a patron just to vote for PSO, looks like it was pointless anyways. The Witcher 3 and TLOU just have too much mainstream appeal.

PSO!

DualOrange

gotta vote with my heart on this one, even tho it's basically throwing away a vote :( come on pso

rrice64

PSO reminds me of fun summers where I had nothing to do but play endless hours with strangers hunting for loot.

Rinder86

So many great memories of PSO. RIP RRR

I mean, he also used 3x the amount of time he was allotted and had to skip portions of the presentation as well. ;)

Jay Rutley

Tough choice but I went with Witcher 3

Matthew Borg

I just Platinum'd the PS4 version a few weeks ago. New game + absolutely holds up. I've beaten it probably 6 times now on PS3 and PS4. One of the greats

I haven't played any of these but Ben wins me on the basis of his presentation. The optimism of the early internet!

iconmaster

Witcher 3 all the way. TLOU is memorable. But DOESN'T HOLD UP after you beat it once.

Star Tsurugi

Man, this Hall of Greats took me back to high school. Kudos to Ben for getting a (relatively) unknown game like PSO so far in a Hall of Greats, let alone standing up to the likes of the OG Halo and Bioshock; but even this pick is between two of my personally most beloved games. I honestly don't mind which of the two wins, but my pick is with TLOU. I did spend more time in the Witcher world and tried my best clearing those markers (makes you wonder what Cyberpunk has in store), but the intimate journey with Joel and Ellie is still felt today, and is echoed well with the recent God of War. In this instance, for me, the story beats the very-open world. An open world I enjoyed, but a story and characters I STILL care about. I cannot wait to see the upset victory and induction of Phantasy Star Online into the Hall of Greats. 😁

Witcher 3 is the only correct answer

Faraz Rizvi

I vote for Burnout 3

Brian Denu

I'm so, so, so sorry Ben. This one hurt to vote against.

I hope that people don't just mindlessly vote and actually watch the presentations. Ian's entire FF7 presentation was EXACTLY about this point. Ben talked with such passion about a revolutionary game and deserves this much more than the games that get mindlessly put on every GOAT list simply because most people weren't around to experience some of the older gems that paved the way.

Marcel "Giru017" Frohlich

A game doesnt have to be old or retro to be a great. It just have to be... well... Great. Witcher 3 is more than eligible for being a great considering that it is touted as one of the best games of this gen.

Disappointed with the Lack of a HALO, Burnout, or Bioshock induction, sorry but FF7 was not fun for me (Played it all the way), Witcher 3 is too new still, Phantasy star is Niche' beyond the scope of the western audience as they legitimately could not play it easily. The Last of Us I'm too biased about as I don't really care about the Zombie scene.

Actually I’m shocked TLOU wasn’t in the Greats yet. We’re gonna set in right!

Johan

Ben your presentation makes me want to get into PSO and check out 2 when it comes. The other 2 just mean more to me. Last of Us got my vote. Witcher has my love. PSO has my new found respect.

this is very easy, TLOU without any doubt in my mind. it's time for it to be in the hall of greats.

Soo intense. Loved the new voting system. But gotta vote for TLOU

Best game of last generation and too this day a game i wish i could play for the first time again, TLOU

Jack Forrest

Vote in PSO or you're a cop.

Midnight Oil

I voted for personal favorite

Henry Ramirez

Great presentations for all three games. But I gotta go for my man Geralt

Tim Bechen

Well, I already played and finished Las of Us, I haven't finished yet Witcher 3, and I am never going to play Phantasy Star Online, but I do want to watch the PSO stream :D Soo, sorry Ben, or you're welcome Ben?

Well, guess I need to get a copy of PSO and try it out. Looks so boring to me, but who knows!

Cliff Boyd

Are we, as Patrons, supposed to take the presentations into account or should we just be voting for our personal favorite game of the 3.

Sorry Ben, I just can't vote PSO on a presentation alone when I've never played the game. None of these would have been in my top 3, but Last of Us is the best of these 3, it's very good. I agree that this voting method wasn't as fun. I preferred hearing them debate with themselves. Lastly, I think this would have made more sense if we had 2 votes.

Bokthand

Bioshock 3 last of us 2 and witcher 1 were my original pulls, so last of us it is!

Daniel Murray

I literally became a Patreon so I could voice for Phantasy Star Online. PLEEEEASE!!!

Pira

Still pulling for you, Ben!

Rinney

I know PSO has little hope but I FELT the love for that one so I hope it wins....

Ian, that was a really lame thing to do to Hall of Greats. Ruining the fun of it.

Travis Gajkowski

PSO presentation was putting me to sleep, felt like I was back in school watching powerpoint slides.

Poor Phantasy Star :(

Daniel Matos

there are deff. votes for the other 2 because i voted for last of us already.

Just a heads up, Blood, there's a glitch with the patreon polls that messes up the percentages. I looked into the code and PSO is actually winning by 100%, there have been no votes for the other 2 yet. Thanks, let me know if you need an update on the numbers.

Rayluaza

PSO is the clear choice!

PSO's losing D: GET OUT THERE AND VOTE

For Ben!

Yes I agree just turn off chat when the votes are happening

Sekiro505

Unfortunately there is no option to hide the percentages or lock in a vote, but I love the Patreon polls for preventing anyone from duplicating votes.

Easy Allies

Fix the issue of absolutely destroying the best part about these streams, the confessional cam. Bring back the old system but just have nobody say what NUMBER they cast, just let them talk. No more bullshit pulls either like FF7 trying to be banned. Getting old.

While i have respect for PSO, I still cant believe that Witcher 3 and TLOU, my two favourite games of all time, came up in the same HoG stream and BOTH got in the tie breaker makes me happy! Im not joking! There are days where I cannot decide which one is my all time fav!

Kind of a weak line up this time. That being said, I gotta give it to TLOU, most deserving game by far.

Alex

the PC version was basically the remaster. there's custom servers for that still

David Warren

it's on gamecube, xbox and pc!

David Warren

I highly recommend this video: https://youtu.be/5pG7Wc5TUTA

Felipe Fonseca

TWO WESTERN GAMES?!?!?

Brad Grenz

TLOU! the time has finally come.

Mega Sackman

Pso is still a great game. I had a lot of fun playing that game and CAN NOT wait for PSO2. I was right along with Ben when it was announced and nearly jumped off my bed and ran around my house. So excited

Daniel from Long Island

Damn, when I saw this post (without actually seeing the poll options) before watching the video, I was really hoping Bioshock made it. Top props for Damiani bringing that. One of my favourite games of all time. That being said, Last of Us is the only one of these I've played, and I do really like it, so it's a no-brainer

Logan Tawse

Even if PSO losses. I think Ben should get at least one more crack at it.

Shoulderguy

TLoU for sure. One of my favourite games ever. I couldn’t stop thinking about the story for a long time after finishing it.

Liana

Lets go Phantasy Star!

Doug Kelly

i wish i played phantasy star online back in the day had a dreamcast but missed it so last of us L&R

John Wingate

It was very funny and someone was always going to vote for FFVII it was even more funny as Brad wasn’t there and Huber had to save it for him. It’s all a joke really don’t take online streams about video games so seriously. Ian has a odd sense of humour and it’s very funny.

the star of the trio Phantasy Star

Forest-Mourner

Easy Allies West showed up voting for the Last of Us

strawhatninja

Voted Witcher 3 before watching the episode. Changed it to PSO after seeing Ben's presentation.

DjDeathCool

I'd vote for either The Last of Us or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt...I'm going for some, "Witcherin' madness".

PSO tried so hard and got so far. And in the end, it doesn't even matter. (At the time of this comment, PSO is in 3rd. I really I hope it makes a comeback!)

aug.mental

But if we get The Last of Us in we can FINALLY stop talking about it and trying to get it in.

Mikey "MyxeQ" Novak

Shoot, I want Last of Us to Stay out. But I don't really think that PSO actually has greatness. PSO has Great FANS but I do not think it is deserves to be in HoGs above other games. And for that Reason Witcher 3 is my choice.

Mikey "MyxeQ" Novak

Never played fso. How has it aged over the years? Is there a remaster of this game? Voted witcher 3❤

Corey Cook

I voted for The Last of Us as that's the game that reinvigorated my love for video games and the stories they can tell.

jesus garcia

PSO for sure, My two older, my older sister and I played this classic on the Dreamcast, the game cube and the Xbox. It's a joy and a game a decade ahead of it's time. It's so great to see it get so much support!

And it's not as good.

Rhys Simons

I feel bad for PSO, it's obviously not gonna beat the other two just because nowhere near as many have played it

Thomas

I feel like when Ben throws in phrases like "in significant ways" or "it felt magical", it muddles the core of his message. If I never played Phantasy Star Online before, it would be hard to relate to these concepts and feelings without any reference.

Let it also be stated that this applies to prior troll picks such as Skyrim by damiani. The D&D pick was troll but it is one of the best games of all time so the argument was fun and sound unlike this

Desquick

BTW, Please vote for PSO to be second place! Ben's Presentation did a good job of positioning the game as a Sonic Adventure-type reinvention of the series and also did a good job making people think about other asked for SEGA Sequels that are wanted as well. Please? He deserves it!

DinoPulse

Good takes. Enjoy the Witcher when you hop back in <3

I feel like the obvious choice here is the Witcher 3. Even tho I haven’t finished it, I feel like I’ve put in enough time to where I have a pretty good understanding as to why it deserves to be in the HoG. The amount of content and quality is unmatched imo, and I can’t wait to pick it up again when I get a chance. TLOU, which I have finished (twice actually), is a really great game, with incredible multiplayer btw, but with the TLOU2 coming out, I wanna wait and see how it compares. With what we’ve seen so far, the animations alone could warrant a HoG nomination but obviously the rest remains to be seen. Ben’s passion for PSO can’t go without mention. I wanna give it to him for that reason alone, but I realize that’s unfair to the other nominees, especially since I’ve never played it. Good luck to all these games, and thanks Allies for another great episode of HoG!

The Warrior Within Soundtrack

Just working my way through these comments, giving a heart to my PSO comrades. May we all revisit the Pioneer 2 some day.

Charliecon

I personally would take Phantasy Star Online all the way to the top if I could. The game is incredibly unique and was one of the first and to this day only options for four players to get together in an instance and play against the environment. Although if I'm being honest, having Story Mode only in offline mode (even though I replayed it atleast a dozen times) hurts PSO as being a grindy MMORPG. It sucks, I lived in that world. The Last of Us is my second pick. Witcher 3 is a world-renowned game but I can't play long enough to get immersed into the world.

Phantasy Star Online just to see the unbridled joy on Ben's face again.

Dileepan M

Phantasy Star Online changed my life. The other two are probably objectively better, but I'm pretty much with Ben on everything he said.

Debido

the actual act of swinging the sword and rolling and shields has no impact but it's an action rpg combat system. It's not the potions and prep

VGJunky

I mean witcher all day

Tony Ranallo

Voted TLoU for being my #4 game of all time, but this is the third time it's been brought. If it loses, much like Mega Man: Legends, I think that's a big enough hint it's not happening anytime soon. But the reason for this comment is to say my two cents on Mr. Hinck's presentation. The thing that bothers isn't he dragging Final Fantasy VII (Full disclosure: My favorite game of all time), it's that it was intentional, and more dumbfoundingly, it was he doing it. At the time of Alliances and the "Anti-chip" suggestion, it was Mr. Hinck arguing against it for the very reason I've read above in this comment section: To hold up games for critical scrutiny, to have the word "Great" have meaning. I only feel bad because that's just not something I ever expected from him. NO, I do NOT believe it was malicious, but it certainly is antithetical to the stream's purpose. But what's done is done. Best of luck to the three above on the time remaining in the poll, and I still look forward to the next HoG. There's always next time.

Brandon K Gann

Should have been one vote then which ever too dont win facing off

Joe Frantik

Also, vote PSO you COWARDS. The other two, while good, are such boring picks. Don't you want to see happy excited Ben? Or are you all monsters?

AnActualSadTaco

Both good games. Played both twice. The Witcher 3 by a nose but they are both such different games.

ComboBreaker

Its time for last of us. It got my vote.

Megan Linart

Really torn between Witcher 3 and The Last of Us. Two really good games. I'm pretty sure they will be the one to win regardless, but I just can't decide which one to vote for!

MaxVSTheGames

The people who are taking HoGs too seriously/salty are the same people who thought Kyle was really angry in Ian's animal crossing video. Don't @ me.

AnActualSadTaco

I was thoroughly entertained during this HoG. Really enjoyed the banter between Kyle and Damiani, it allowed us to see a more heated side of the allies that we rarely get to see. Ian's video had me laughing the entire way through. Everyone else's presentations were really enjoyable. Huber is too pure, friendship is power.

The thing about Ian's presentation is that it at least warrants a red card lol. Brad should take him to easy allies court for afouling the sanctity of the process. If you cant make a presentation to take a game out you shouldnt have a presentation on why a game isnt as good and or not care if it wins or gets banned. If anything it is just in bad taste. Thought we gave up on the jokes and memes during these Hall of Greats streams when we abolished the back door shady deals. Still love you Ian and your content/producer skills. Also it should be noted that despite Huber being the only one to give it a point thus saving it multiple other allies mentioned the fact that the decision was hard because of the presentation being purposely bad but knowing this game shouldnt be banned and yet the possibility of a ban was there. In that regard the voting process was muddied. As for the voting process i like hearing what each allies gives their points two if anything to hear their internal monologue and process by which they distribute. Love you all

Desquick

First thing I must say is that MD was 100% right in his confession cam. We shouldn't take this so seriously. I was probably more annoyed by Kyle's halo presentation if I had to pick on anyone. I know he was going for a parody voice a bit but I feel that because it's Kyle, he gets a pass. Hands down the witcher 3 should be in and it's actually silly that it's not an automatic entry at this point. There is no other game that has this kind of love an attention to story and choice. I think the guys that hate the combat are wrong. I think it's entirely rational that potions and preperation should be a focus of a monster hunter. The various skill trees are a detailed and awesome. Dont get the hate.

Wesley

Witcher and TLOU are both great games! Looking back I think I like Witcher a little better. (Never played PSO) If I could I would vote for Burnout3 because it's clearly the best burnout, the presentation was good and Don deserves a win!(after bringing so many great games that got shafted)

I watch Easy Allies for their passion towards video games. I know that Ian has games that he could have passionately talked about for Hall of Greats. When he gives his opinion on video games, I listen carefully. But if he was bored, he should have just sat out. When he does something like this, I feel like I'm watching someone protest that they have to do that show. Actually, if there was an entire show for giving a contrarion opinion, that would be great. It would provide a place for negativity, criticism and contention. I would pay money to see that. However, Hall of Greats doesn't seem like the place for that, especially judging by the reactions of the rest of the team. To summarize: Love Ian, would love to see a contrarion show, or even more "Settle It" episodes, but did not enjoy his Hall of Greats protest.

Daryl Rodriguez

PSO isn't going to win. But goddamn am I proud of it for making it this far.

Matt B

On the topic of Ian's HOG presentation, I got the joke. Didn't mind it that much, added some spiciness to the whole thing. But honestly I had to skip it all because it gave me a headache. I think it went a little overboard.

Varun Kachhwaha

Reading some people's comments about this HoG it really sours me to the community a bit. I feel as if some people just want the allies to constantly be positive and repress any negative thoughts to maintain L&R and keep "good vibes" that shit gets stale.

See I am quite pissed too. Here is my reasoning. After all of the pacts and BS from the previous HOGs got everyone pissed, the allies said, going forward, that they would do an honest show. That is just not the case, especially after the last HOG. Skyrim was made a joke, Kyle cheated to make sure he got more votes, getting some of his games in HOG. Games have had pacts to make sure they got at least one vote. Now, FF7 a game that almost everyone said they would have voted for if the presentation wasnt so bad, is the target of some ridiculous joke. I was sitting on my couch, playing Switch, enjoying this HOG and the jolly fun vibe when I hear a blaringly loud sound.... I am in an online match and cant get up ..... have to listen to this aweful nonsense .... loling a bit... having no idea what it was, only to find out it is a shit presentation to try to get a game that Brad and many allies love to be barred for a year. Why? I love fun, and I dont want to restrict the allies in any way honestly, however, I never complained about HOG until now because I thought it was mostly a bit. I was glad it was kinda a joke they could have fun with because I was in on it too. I got it. Then when it was told to us it would be an honest contest to see what games the allies really loved, I expected that nonsense to stop. Ian is my favorite ally, I wrote him a heterosexual love letter telling him how much I respect him, for my community showcase submission. What he did last hall of greats I really feel like he just wanted to hurt people and make them upset. Now I feel like the joke is on us. Like I have said before, that just isn't Love and Respect. I know I have been ranting alot about this but I truly hope I relay my viewpoint in a non-disrespectful way. In the end, if I have to not give a shit about HOG because its a bit, I can handle that just fine. It wont make me like the allies any less or change my support of this wonderful group of amazing people. Much love allies. ~Heidern98

Jeffrey Tessar

I wish there was some way to get people to stop taking the HoG quite so seriously. It’s primarily a fun way to talk about some of their favorite games and rib on each other when they disagree. It’s such a bummer to see people get caught up in this imagined reverence for the rules and the system. There are literally no stakes for any of this.

Charliecon

I want an easy allies group stream poker night so bad. But only after Jones is back

I think Ian should get a hall of greats suspension for the disrespect and irreverence he displayed toward the process. Especially when you have the rest of them putting their hearts into their presentations and putting forth a game that they truly believe belong in the HoG. It just comes off as either he doesn't want to be there, or he's making a mockery of it all. And you should only be participating if you actually want to. If you have trouble putting forth an honest presentation without falling back into snarkiness, then use Kyle as a guideline. His Halo presentation was tongue in cheek but at the same time it communicated that he actually really respected the game and that he actually wants it to be considered by the Allies. If the Allies didn't have to modify their voting choices to ensure that FF7 wouldn't be banned, then there probably wouldn't have been a three way tie, and actual conclusive vote result may have been achieved. Red card for Ian and sitting out the next HoG might be a good idea. At the very least establish a rule that states don't put forth a game you don't believe in. It would be one thing if he did this presentation and left his intentions a mystery, but he outright said a few times that he was explicitly trying to get FF7 banned or funnel away pity votes from people that didn't want it to get banned.

Jack Sibert

I love all three of these games. Had to give it to Witcher 3 in the end but wow, tough choice with The Last of Us there this time. I prize strong narrative games over those strictly focused on gameplay (I require at least the context to move a game from good to excellent for me) so this hall of greats had the strongest lineup yet for me.

PSO invented the elements Bungie later refined into Destiny. Most influential game on the list.

Still bummed Halo didn't get picked. But I'll give it to PSO, it was innovation at least.

TLOU was one of those games that I initially didn't like but has become one of my all time favorites. I can't imagine it ever getting old. I've replayed it at least five times.

Joseph Caruso

Personally bummed at the results, but I get it. I’ve always heavily preferred gameplay-focused games over story-focused games.

Charliecon

I never got that complaint, I loved the combat. Maybe it had something to do with me putting all the stats into the magic. But I never knew the combat was hated as much as it was until now.

Varun Kachhwaha

#TeamHuber

tahitianwarrior

Compliments to Ben on a fantastic presentation of a game I wish I couldve played. He can move a boulder with that speech and I still find Witcher 3 to be the best western RPG of all time. The combat system complaint is overblown. On the harder difficulties and even when playing normal there is a great system that you can utlize the depth to your advantage. When enemies break quen in one shot and still do damage you know youve gotta play smarter. Also Triss will always be my pick. I think i have almost 700 hours on the witcher over 5 different play throughs one of which i did 100% all witcher contracts and the ?s on the map. And you can make an argument for Blood and Wine as a seperate game honestly seeing as theres enough content for 80 hours which is what i spent on my firsf playthrough of it. Lol what a game

Desquick

Honestly I think TLoU is maybe the greatest game ever made. Go Huber!

Swan

Pso is why I bought a gamecube

David Warren

Got to love the wildcard Don pick

Varun Kachhwaha

this is off-topic, but if Mario Galaxy ever gets to this, do not fail me, allies.

Rayluaza

Sorry Ben, there's probably an argument for PSO but I just haven't played it/been exposed to it enough to vote over Witcher. Not the biggest TLOU but am happy for the community to put it over the top for Huber.

Yeah, if he believes in it strongly enough, I don't see any reason he would not bring it back. Maybe he could brush up his presentation as well.

Varun Kachhwaha

Definitely agree with you about the presentations there! Everyone has upped their game.

Varun Kachhwaha

I really wanted to see PSO take this one. Hoping, Ben will bring it back for consideration.

Mikehook1

Voted for PSO for you Ben.

GenWoofles

He already got RE Remake in.

Mikehook1

It's easily worth a shot I think. The graphics still hold up on the remaster.

Varun Kachhwaha

Lets get Huber his first win in the HOG!

Greg Kettering

The Last of Us deserves a spot.... I don't have strong feelings about either of the other two. I tried and failed to get into The Witcher.... and I've never played PSO. L&R all.

Mitchell Collier

PSO was a great surprise, but going against 2 titans is tough.

Owen

But then the same point can be made about PSO, if the game is good enough, it can and will be nominated again. The Hall of Greats is about the game that is the best.

Varun Kachhwaha

Who cares? Let them pick what they want

Owen

Both Witcher 3 and Last of us will get in at some point. This could be the only opportunity to do right by Ben and PSO.

SKELEGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

No justice for Ben and PSO. How disappointing

Karl Williams

God damn i was rooting for burnout 3. Has to be in my top 5 ps2 games ever. I freaked out when it came up. Don i thank you for that. Love and respect.

Lord_Heisenberg

The thing that is annoying me is that whenever I see a comment in support of The Last of Us, or The Witcher 3 there is always a personal reason as into why the person voted for that game. Why they think it is a great, why it affected them personally. But then 90% of the PSO comments are either being derogatory to the other 2 games, by calling them too mainstream or wow these votes are sad. It’s just so annoying. Imagine if Ben just went, wow guys you are just sheep, you should totally vote for my game because it is the only chance it has of getting in (If the game is good enough, it will always get a second chance), man you guys just vote for mainstream AAA games. Etc. Tell me why you are so passionate for PSO rather than just complaining about the poll, or the other games on the list.

Varun Kachhwaha

I find it hard to pick, as while I've played bits of Last of Us it's not really a type of game I enjoy, despite liking other stealthy games like Deus Ex, however Huber's presentation was so good. Phantasy Star Online I've never played, but again Ben was passionate about it, but I don't know if that would be enough to recommend it to me, as I'm just not a fan of MMO's. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game I love, and will play again, for me it redefined and improved so much of what an RPG can be, though at the same time I felt it had weaknesses compared to 2, as I feel like while 3 improved combat in many ways, it also dumbed down elements I loved, like the need to prepare for each battle, with 3 also having way too many enemy mobs IMO (I felt like battles were more special in 2). That said, the DLC's are both excellent, and I loved many of the bosses in 3. So yeah, it's such a difficult choice! Damn you EZA for not reaching a decision on your own!

Haravikk

I love the Witcher and the Last of Us, pretty hard to choose. I will go with Witcher 3 this time.

Ian Alexander

This was really well written, it was a nice perspective.

Varun Kachhwaha

Im still playing the witcher 3 after 2 years of purchase and i haven't yet completed half of the story! Its a legendary open word game!

Danni-H4

Sad day in the votes

Chris H

listen to any song from TLoU and tell me it isn’t one of the greats

RanchoCucamunga

Sadly, I agree. See my comment above.

The Last of Us is my favorite game of all time. Every time Huber has brought it now I have wanted it to get in. His argument for the Clickers being iconic holds true in my life. I played games for my siblings when they were younger. In a way I was their first youtuber. They felt as though they were watching a movie. The clickers gave my youngest brother legitimate nightmares they creeped him out so much. Also I think that their difficulty settings are some of the best in the biz with the two hardest taking away listen mode and making supplies and weapons so rare that you really have to utilize stealth and be so careful with your resources. New game+ exists for those that want to run through feeling badass. As for the story you cannot argue that it is a wonderfully written tale of forged bonds that get stronger when pushed to the limits of your humanity. And Huber is write the seasonal changes make for a nice break between sections of the game that really affect the scenery and clothing of the characters. Always nice to have a campaign that changes the characters themselves in terms of look and aesthetic. The David boss fight is disturbing and made moreso when you realize that it is Nolan North playing a perverse psychotic cannibal. As for the characterization of our duotagonists you couldnt ask for better writing. Ellie's growth and attachment to Joel as a parental figure and Joel's growing care for her in return is beautiful. And yet Joel has his own share of demons and a darkness that lies beneath the surface. He was a Hunter in the past. Seems to have a longstanding relationship with the Fireflies and is now a smuggler. Nothing screams this more than his torture and killing of 2 of the Cannibals to find Ellie. And,of course his slaughter of the hospital of Fireflies to get her back. "You'd only come after her" -gunshot- The ending is remarkably selfish but after that journey many of us wouldve done the same thing. Lets not forget the lore of the world and stories you can find like of course Ish and his srttlement. Also the companions you find along the way and their depressing stories. This world is fucked up and it shows it through the characters. Goddamnit this game is amazing. I love it dearly. I will always pick it. Thanks for reading my HoG presentation.

Desquick

PSO deserves it over the other two for what it did for online multiplayer on consoles.

Karlos

Sony fanboy community confirmed ;)

Yusuf S

I happily voted for PSO. I hope that TLOU and PSO both get in to the Hall of Greats this time, if that do, then I'm sure Witcher will be in next time for sure!

The last of Us got my vote. The game was one hell of a journey for me. I really started to care for these characters, the tension, the story, the monsters, the locations. It has been a long time since I played that game but it is still in my mind and I still feel the impact it had on me.

FreeDoM

Also, just the fact that PSO is standing in a poll between TLoU and TW:3 (two of the best and most popular games in this decade) despite being from Sega gen is amazing.

Udit Singh

Last of Us and Witcher 3 are both underwhelming. PSO gets the default vote

Daniel Rona

Huber's presentation was absolutely lovely, and timed properly. I'm docking Ben for running way overtime

Matthew Leonard

Last of Us is my favourite game among the three and Huber was super good with his presentation. But, Ben's sincerity really opened my eyes to a game I had no knowledge off and all of a sudden I have FOMO for something I had never even acknowledged until now. Also, since this would so heavily be skewed in favour of TLoU and TW3, Ben takes my vote :).

Udit Singh

Witcher 3 is my favourite game and to me is the epitome of the RPG genre, so I hope it gets in. On the other hand, I've never played The Last Of Us and Huber just convinced me to give it a go.

Eric J

Really tough between TLOU and Wither 3. I feel that they are the best of each others generation. I always believe that the HOGs is a mix of good presentation and authentically great game. While I think Ben killed it with his PSO presentation I think the other games are just better and had just as good if slightly worse presentation/arguments as PSO. If I had to pick gun to my head? Hubers passion, presentation, great game and the willingness to take a shot for the team and save FF7 from a silly banning. Gotta pick TLOU.

Devon Kopec

Loved the way both Bloodworth and Huber delivered their passion towards these two favourite games of mine. TLoU's even my #1, so that's a vote.

Ville Ranto

I think you should just pick what you want to win.

Varun Kachhwaha

Does that negate everything else that is great about it though? There were also many moments that weren't telegraphed that much, like the one in the sewers I think. There was one where there was a clicker in a shack that really shocked me.

Varun Kachhwaha

Guys, please remember that presentation matters or many of us are hypocrites. Ben's presentation for PSO was compelling, informative, and full of passion. I've never played PSO, but he made the argument for showing it is a great that deserves a spot (at least a stronger one I felt than Blood or Huber).

Chris Leroux

As somebody who never played PSO but has dumped too many hours into some MMO's Ben's presentation really didn't sell the game to me. I couldn't tell you anything remarkable about the game or even how it's played after watching his 10 minute presentation for a third time. I understand that he's passionate about a game but that doesn't lend anything to its merit; Kyle has repeatedly brought unwavering passion for Mega Man Legends, a game that also has no place in the Hall of Greats. Edit: Ian I love final fantasy 7 and I thought your presentation was hilarious and it would have said a lot if the game still got in despite your video. It's not like a different presentation is going to change anybody's mind about how great that game is.

Matt Izaguirre

Nicely said!

Varun Kachhwaha

With last of us in the lead I HAVE to pick the Witcher. I would much rather be picking PSO BUT. gotta do what you gotta do.

Kiraz

The Last of Us is not so great. With too many waist high boxes, it clearly sets up the next encounters in a generic and predictable way.

The only downside to The Last of Us is that its MP became pay-to-win with weapons and perks only obtainable through microtransactions. I hope they won't do that in Part 2. Apart from that, the game is incredible and it is among my favorite games of all time. Gameplay, story, music, the characters, the pacing. It reminds me of another of my favorite games, RE4, in many many ways as well. I played it when it came outplayed it a couple times since then and just earlier this year finished it on Grounded on PS4 in my latest playthrough. It holds up really well and never fails to entertain end excite me. I definitely share Huber's passion when it comes to that game.

I'm voting for PSO because of Ben's passion.

My first tie breaker poll and it's an honor to be involved in this decision even in a small way!

JessieBlu

I believe Huber said it best when he brought the game to a previous Hall of Greats but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was the first time a game made feel like I was in a book. Every locale is just filled to the brim with tangible and detailed bits of world building that, when coupled with one of my favorite casts of characters in video games, create some of the most vividly realized environments and locations that I've ever experienced in any game. Also, I'll go to bat for the combat as even though I've always enjoyed the actual sword fighting and whatnot, the visual spectacle of Geralt slashing his way through a camp of bandits or a horde of monsters can be so brutal and visceral that, for me, every encounter had something to look forward to. I could probably go on for ever (I probably have a little too much already) but I'll stop it here by saying that any of these three games are worthwhile, but I willingly, out of my own desire, completed two separate, 100+ hour playthroughs and you know what, there will probably be a third.

Adam Hentschel

And the other games do not deserve to be one of the greats?

Varun Kachhwaha

So brave, so edgy. You are like a sage among these blind sheep/

Varun Kachhwaha

Because people voted for their favourite games?

Varun Kachhwaha

C'mon, PSO deserves to be in the Hall of the Greats!

Sebastian Erben

Exactly, it's just so petty.

Varun Kachhwaha

I will always vote for anything that isn't TLOU.

Ridnarhtim

I'm so disappointed in the poll right now

Hey Kyle! I voted and the percentages pop up for who is winning but the system is letting me change my vote by reclicking. I can even unvote entirely. Hopefully everyone acts in good faith but this may allow people to change their vote depending on who is winning/losing. I'm on mobile btw, not sure if the desktop version behaves differently. Thought it might be good to know in future. P.S. sorry Halo didnt make the cut, it defined so many of my multiplayer experiences! Campaign Coop was the biggest highlight for me :P

Never played PSO but the attitude people have towards it clearly going to lose is pretty annoying.

Kaleb

The odd thing about this tie is that before this poll even went up I knew PSO wasn't going to get in. All 3 deserve it. I voted PSO and hope it gets a chance again

Kris Fredrick

The Allies did respond to this, but the answer might have got buried in the comments. The reply was "I think that would be effectively just voting for one loser. I gotta keep everyone honest"

Varun Kachhwaha

I love The Witcher 3 and The Last Of Us equally, but Huber’s presentation was filled with so much passion.

Michael Miller

It's make sense to vote for which game we don't want in this case.

Andrew Chalmers

The Last of Us and Witcher deserve to be in there

Plissken

That is kind of the whole reason polls exist. And the amount of people the game has managed to have an impact on is one of the metrics in being a great. How many hearts did this game touch? How many moments that people will never forget? Popularity/exposure/impact, all of these are vital for a game to be truly great.

Varun Kachhwaha

For Huber L&R (Also TLOU is epic)

Three essential videogames, any pick is correct

44stars

It isn't called Hall of Exposure either, but of course often the most important factor deciding these things is a game's popularity among a large group of people. I expect way more to be familiar with and carry fond experiences of playing TLOU and Witcher 3 than a Dreamcast game, a system that flopped spectacularly despite the quality of the games on it. People can vote for whatever reason they like. They're always telling us not to take this too serious anyways, and otherwise it honestly stands zero chance of making it in.

MBUN

PSO bout to fall victim to a popularity contest, and there's nothing that can really be done about it.

MBUN

I think this is PSO's only chance of getting into the Hall of Greats. That's why it's getting my vote 🙂

Voted for The Last of Us. One of the best stories ever in video games. Love that game. The Witcher 3 is also an excellent RPG which deserves to be in The Hall of Greats.

Casper Andersen

PSO just for the kid surfing the keyboard over the earth. Ben really nailed why this game was so important. I’d never even heard of it until this e3 but as someone who watched the birth of the internet I understand.

Estaban

Sorry, as much as I empathize with Ben on PSO - gotta vote Last of Us.

ToiletDrummer

I am sorry PSO but I have to vote with my heart, and my heart goes to Witcher 3

Jesse.P

PSO for the dreamers!

To be honest, I'm not exactly swayed by the "won't get another chance again" argument. It's called the Hall of Greats, not Hall of Sympathy votes. If it deserves to stand above those, then it should. It shouldn't win only because it might not be picked the next time. To be a great, you need to be good enough to beat the competition on your own merit. If you think it's better a game, and vote for it. I think that's perfectly fine. Don't vote for it just because it might not get another chance. Because I think that goes against what the Hall of Greats is about.

Varun Kachhwaha

It needs to be PSO. This might be the only chance this game will get. The gameplay loop still holds up to this day. Seeing those bright red boxes drop always felt great. Nowdays publishers try to recreate that feeling with loot boxes. PSO managed to do that without micro transactions.

For Roach!

pls don´t let the last of us in instead of POS

SuperSushiii

PSO for Ben. The others will get in one day. Let Ben be the passionate man he is, even for semi-obscure games

PSO deserves this. It's groundbreaking and timeless in a way neither of the other games are. TW3 and TLoU are great, no diss, but PSO is important in a way they can't be.

Tygre

Ordinarily I would vote for the other two games, but Ben’s presentation for Phantasy Star really moves me

Airhandy

Phantasy Star Online will not have another chance like this.

I love The Last of Us and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but Ben made an excellent case and it's probably the only shot for Phantasy Star Online. This is tough.

Alexander Zyryanov

It should be which do you think doesn't deserve to be on the list since it's one choice but I think for next time you should have the Allies vote (singular) on these 3 games and which ever has the most votes gets in and the other 2 are upto the patrons.

Ibrahim Sozer

I think that would be effectively just voting for one loser. I gotta keep everyone honest

Easy Allies

We already know the results but still crazy.

Exactly the same position for me!

fuyunotabi

Lilac and Gooseberries!

Kyle, a good option somebody brought up was to have the poll options be pairs of games

VGJunky

Goddamnit I'm so torn between The Last of Us and The Witcher. Both amazing games that gave me so many memories that I cherish.

Varun Kachhwaha

FOR HUBER!
