I thought it was a great video. I really would like the opportunity to discuss it with Ian. There are competing poles in art interpretation theory. At one end you have work where the artist annotates it and each line has a footnote, and at the other end the artist is completely mum about what the work means and leaves the observer to put the meaning in it. It seems to me that this video is intended to be a mirror, and therefore Ian will be silent about it. So any hope that he will share thoughts about it are probably wasted. I don't think that its junk art thrown out to fill a weekly requirement or self-indulgent whining. I don't think the intent is to make fun of internet trolls or to test our own patience. This video literally asks us why we react to the internet like we do. So, for my 2 cents (why the internet makes me mad) - It's looking at people say things I disagree with or watching injustice or looking at people who have things I want. I have to temper my reaction to things I find on the internet all the time, or it would make me miserable. We were not designed (whether you think by nature or by God), to have a magic window to look into all day that is an imperfect picture of the world around us. The way we react to social interactions (and by that i mean ALL communication) are designed for face to face, person to person interaction. Even the telephone or written correspondence changes how we interact with one another. Our competitive nature, our desire to be a part of a community, our violent urges and our desire to help one another - they all get busted by removing the person or group of people we are interacting with from us physically. We aren't built to observe every tragedy that the world has to offer. We aren't built for the experience of having no potential consequences to speaking out in a group. We aren't built to compete against the entire world. I think these are the baseline issues that create the toxic environment that internet has to offer. Of course it doesn't have to be that way. We can choose to observe and correct the worst parts of our nature and act in a way that makes the social war zone of the internet a better place. In fact, the success of the Easy Allies out of GT I think is exactly because the editorial staff and the leaders and many of the main content contributors of GT acted in a way that was better than the rest of the internet. They didn't curse as much, they didn't spew hate, they didn't engage in some of the political polarization that many media outlets get lost in. I think that people who don't want to go the internet to get mad liked the GT content because of this, and they are now a part of a community that (mostly) chooses to be above it all.

We had a voice acting exercise on emphasis and inflection that was exactly what Ian is doing. Getting different meaning by stressing different words and repeating the same thing over and over.

As far as I'm concerned it's brilliant because it tests the endurance of our patience. Some will get mad because that's exactly what it's made to do-if you can overcome the hurdle then it won't bother you, probably because you can tell that Ian intentionally made this video knowing it'd make people mad hence the title, but hey I'd much rather watch Ian repeating himself for 10 minutes than listen to the mainstream drivel the music industry pumps out constantly and unrelentingly.

Yeah, people reacting to it is the true point of this video. Lol I personally watched about 10 seconds... then skipped a few minutes in and thought "oh I get it." But it's pretty funny how despite how simple the video is... so many people are getting 'triggered'. Like it doesn't matter how you 'play it off'... any criticism of the content just makes you look like you were 'triggered'. It's a 'nothing' video. It's very easy to just ignore it and move on... But for some reason people just cannot seem to help themselves. I think that's where people should actually take a step back and maybe be a bit self-reflective and realize the question doesn't have to apply to them. It only applies to them if they choose to let it apply to them.

I've said this so many times, but I think trying to get Ian to stop doing weird things is the wrong thing to do. It's exactly the hit/miss nature of Easy Update, where he gets the freedom just to try and do different things, that's what makes it unique. I like that we get random things out of it, you never know what you get from one episode to another. To answer the question posed in the video, I didn't get angry, but did find the variable audio volume the most annoying thing. Also I think the video itself isn't supposed to make you "angry" per say, it's the reaction to the video. I mean, look at the comments here and on YouTube, I think Ian succeeded. I find it pretty funny. Edit* Thinking on this in hindsight, this is definitely one of the more entertaining videos I have seen from the Allies based on the reactions to it alone.

I realize now Ian was being sarcastic when he implied this week's episode of Easy Update would be everyone's favorite. While I personally didn't get much out of this episode, it certainly doesn't make me mad, especially when we just had such a fun episode last week that was exactly the kind I'd been craving. Plus I know Ian had to shoot a bunch of these to bank before Christmas break, so this was probably an idea he had that was easy enough to execute in a relatively short time and an idea he was already interested in experimenting with, so what better time to go for it than during the time when the Allies are basically on vacation anyways? Just remember, Easy Update doesn't have to be weekly. That's not a Patreon goal, just an Ian goal. This episode could've instead been absolutely nothing, and while some would argue that would've been better, I'll remind them they have the power to skip skim through videos, so they easily could've watched about a minute and realized the whole thing was going to be not for them. As hilarious as it would've been, it isn't like Ian held up a gift card code six or seven minutes into the episode just for the fans paying attention or anything similar. Yeah, I don't really care for this episode, but there are some people who will and did, so even though this does feel in part a deliberate troll from Ian, there's not point getting all that angry or insane about it.

If it didn't have the background music, I would be mad because it's monotonous to an extreme. As it is, it's kind of relaxing. However, I have not given it a like here or on YouTube, because: A. Opinions I see online make me believe I’m more tolerant than others. I get some people have criticisms and it doesn’t equate to hate/anger but still. I get upset/disappointed like everyone else but i dont find myself getting outraged is all. Then again in person people seem chill and when it comes to media it’s all at face value. i just hear about said thing being liked or not and being left at that. Grandiose discussions I tend to see stay online.
