Community Showcase - April 2020

April will be Kyle's last month with Easy Allies, so on Monday the 6th I get one last chance to prove to him that we have one of the most intensively creative and passionately opinionated communities on Patreon. I wish that I could sit down on the streaming room couch with him, but given our current circumstances I'll have to get a little creative myself in how we'll present April's Showcase. But just because it's a good opportunity to honor Kyle's contributions and send him off with lots of loving tributes, don't feel obligated to make your submission about him in any way. This tier, and this show, is about all of you.

SHOWCASE GUIDELINES

No submissions will be accepted past April 6, 2020, at 12:00 AM PT.

While you retain all rights to your content, by submitting here you’re giving Easy Allies the right to show the content in our monthly Community Showcase live stream.

You may submit a comment, an image, or an audio/video file. If you’re submitting anything other than a comment, please host the file elsewhere and link it on Patreon. You can make a tweet or Instagram post with your image, or link the audio/video from a YouTube account, etc.

If you’re posting a video, photograph, or drawing, keep your comment limited to a description of the work. Leaving a piece of art, or a video, in addition to a long comment is a bit disrespectful of people who just leave comments. If you’re posting a lot of images, we will only show a maximum of 9, of our choosing unless you specify otherwise.

Comments have been known to disappear from Patreon posts, unfortunately. Double check that your post remained active before the day of the Showcase. Leaving a comment helps to keep it from vanishing. If you’re submitting text, save a copy locally in case you have to re-post.

Any text to be read should be 500 words or less. Any video or piece of music should be 3 minutes or less. If the entry is longer, we will edit it down to a manageable length. We reserve the right to remove any content we find offensive.

Only one entry per month. Unless you specify what you’d like us to focus on, we’ll always use the last post from each Patron.

You may comment on any submissions, but keep original posts focused toward the Showcase so no submission is overlooked.

I'm not sure just yet but it looks like my entry wasn't featured this month.

Also I already cut a Making Of that I will release once the event is happening.

Hello Brandon and Kyle, not much to say about the art this month, just some stuff I've drawn that I thought was alright. I'll just say thank you both for what you do. And Kyle, I truly appreciate what you've done for EZA and the community and I wish you all the best. L&R https://drive.google.com/open?id=1xV_mYY1TvHvAe9Y4pkPIJFxZDXt0h-bO

Howdy Jones and Kyle, I know commenting on picture posts is a no-no, but it’s my first time and coincidentally my 30th birthday today so please allow me to just say a very fond farewell (or auf wiedersehen at least) to Kyle Sexguy Bosman. It was this combo that got me into EZA with your Smash trailer reactions, Kyle the totally-into-it hoodie-teen energy possessor with father Jones who’s lit up with Castlevania nostalgia. You’ve brought me a lot of joy, Kyle, so thank you. Anywho, here are some captures of moments from Shadow of the Colossus on PS4. They’re a little blurry cuz I screenshotted from PS4 Share Play on my PC but the aesthetic is still golden in my opinion. Include are plenty of spoilers, a moment from Jones’ nightmares, and one screenshot of me facing down a lizard I hunted at a shrine for over 30 minutes. Hi Kyle and jones How are you today? Hopefully fine. For this months showcase post i have only one thing to offer. A quote from Kyle that catapulted this guy ALMOST to the platinum tier and now I want the Jones take. „it pains me that this game would be trapped on the dreamcast. It pains me that soul calibur continues while techromancer rolls around in its grave.... that people know mortal combat lore and not the lore of these incredible robots...that people respect the blaze blue story.... that people like street fighters supers...no..“ - Kyle Bosman L&R Alex_AI

Greetings Kyle and Jones! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Well, now that I got my financials sorted out, I can be on the Showcase tier again! So, with all that said, I thought I’d give you guys a bit of a progress report on what I’ve been doing the last few months. While I’ve got nothing to show off this time around, I’ve been busy drawing, writing, rewriting, and redrawing chapter 1 of my webcomic, Summer Days! It’ll be awhile until I can finally start with the updates, but it feels so good to have started and then finish something that is essentially the beginning. I’ve also been working on some illustrations that I’ll be showing off for AniMay. Be on the lookout for that. Lastly, I’ve already said my ‘thank you’s to Kyle for inspiring me to pursue my dream of developing my webcomic just by creating Box Peek, but I’ll say it again. Thank you, Kyle. Much love and respect, Sara Imshaug Zephyr Moon

Also allow me to converse with Brando for one second, Your going to be fine with this community behind you my dude. Let's embrace the next chapter 4 EZA. XD

hey kyle! hey jones! i don't really have anything new to share this month, so instead i wanted to take this time to share a bit of nostalgia and some words of gratitude if that's okay. i had never been one to make fan art, but when kyle started accepting submissions to be shown at the start of his streams, i jumped at the opportunity. kyle's streams have always been special to me and being able to convey at least some of those feelings into art always made me happy. i just wanted to say thanks i guess. anyway, here's just some of the pieces i've drawn over the years for the friday night streams. the first game i sent art for was Tail of the Sun. not only was the game pretty incredible in its own right, but kyle's characterization of each new protagonist just completely set my imagination on fire. that resulted in these four separate portraits: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EU5bpE6XkAAofiX?format=jpg&name=large next up is some art i did for the game For the Frog the Bell Tolls. i loved getting to experience that game for the first time with everyone in chat and will never forget our little Prince Ezra and his best friend (rival? boyfriend??) Prince Richard: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EU5jeMBXQAoGYM2?format=jpg&name=large the Chibi Robo streams may have ended abruptly, but they definitely left their mark on me: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EU5jfNGWsAEU5Nv?format=png&name=large one of my all time favorite streams and eza memories in general is staying up all night watching kyle play through Yo! Noid 2. it was surreal and exciting and downright delightful the whole way through: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EU5jgrfXgAAfPi6?format=jpg&name=large and finally, Graffiti Kingdom. i will always treasure the weirdos we got from kyle having as much creative freedom as that game allowed. namely Snippicus Red and his stand Korn, and the non-binary icon Brittle Justice. (thansk to kyle for letting me name Korn and the sheer luck of me winning the name raffle for Brittle and getting to pick their pronouns): https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/413125109004632074/696605230049001572/snippicusredn.png that's all i've got. i just want to take this opportunity to thank easy allies, and kyle in particular, for allowing me a supportive and loving place to share my art. your kind words have helped me in more ways than i could ever say and your constant inspiration will stick with me for the rest of my life. i'm gonna miss making you read my stupid puns and jokes in chat, kyle, but i'm excited to see what you do next. thanks for everything. - esther

Hi, Jones & Kyle! Another long poem this month, please forgive me! I’ve been going stir crazy, so I finished a poem that’s been floating around in my docs for a while. I don’t have much room, but: Kyle, thank you for everything you’ve done in EZA. I want nothing more than for you to find your Thing, good luck! <3 (As usual, everything combined is just under 500 words!) doc link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZL-gTFkNxLSkhN0ssregnwaWN1uCMWgqUwavM3yGsh8/edit?usp=sharing L&R, Spencer (@spoolesofthread)

Hi Brandon and Kyle, I’ve never just written a comment before. Usually I do art, but creativity has been lacking lately, and I figured this would be a good time to just talk a little about some stuff I like 😊 My name’s Casey, I’m 22 and while you might recognize my name from Friday Night fanart or the book of letters I sent you Kyle, today I hope to be remembered as That Fullmetal Alchemist Fan. When you played that FMA game on your anime game night group stream I was ecstatic. I unfortunately haven’t played any of the FMA video games, but I have watched the anime: OG, 2003 FMA only once in full, but Brotherhood twice in the past year, and I also recently bought the entire manga set and read through that as well. I think Fullmetal Alchemist (the manga and brotherhood) is my favorite piece of media ever. I realize that might seem like a silly statement, but Fullmetal Alchemist really touches my heart, namely because of the bonds. This entire series is about bonds- it’s all about friendship, making allies even in unlikely places, love in every form, and I cry every time I read or watch it. It’s also about war, but…details. I really don’t want to spoil it, because part of this post is just me imploring you to watch it, but Ed’s ending is really poignant, and the characters and their relationships to one another are so loveable and memorable and unique. Also Ed’s automail rules, I think the idea of having a metal arm is just really sweet. I even gave my dnd character a metal arm! Something else I want to talk about is Pokémon Trading Card Game. Like 2 months ago I had the idea to do a video for community showcase about my favorite Pokémon cards. That would be hard for me to pull off and I don’t know if I’ll actually do it, but I can still talk about them! I have a physical card collection, but I also play the online game. It’s super easy to learn, costs nothing and its fun to just jump into whenever you’re feeling it. I encourage people to try it out!! I have one deck I made that I mainly use- It’s fairy type and centers around my Sylveon and Gardevoir cards, and I love them. I also recently got a rainbow rare Gardevoir and Sylveon tag team card, which is my personal favorite card in the whole game. I got very lucky! Anyway, I didn’t want to make my whole comment about how much I’ll miss you Kyle, but please know that I will, a lot! Your content, whether it be your Friday streams or your Fiasconauts episodes is always the highlight of my week, and for a long time after you’re gone I’ll feel like something is missing. But, I hope with deepest sincerity that you find what You’re missing. Thank you for everything, Casey/@enderglow 💖

Hey Jones and Kyle, I wanted to say that Kyle has been a positive influence on my self-esteem since the first episode of Final Bosman. Nearly my entire life, I've never had friends that were interested in gaming, so talking about why I think a new game is exciting or why you should look forward to E3 fell on bored ears. If there was one thing I've been able to take away by Kyle's approach to talking about games, is that it's okay to like a game on your own terms. You can be personal about why a game speaks to you, so whether it's Gitaroo Man or Mega Man Legends, what matters is what you take out of it. This gave me permission to enjoy games and not feel like I am less than a person. A lot of people in my life, at best, have a tepid acceptance for my chosen hobby. But Kyle and the Allies have shown me that you can be an adult and still love games. That's been such an important mindset that has gotten me through some down moments in my life. For my submission, I wanted to share the one moment I ever got a chance to see Kyle. I was at the EZA 3rd anniversary show, and I was talking to Ben about Yakuza and Dragon Ball Z. Kyle looking haggard stepped between us because he needed to talk to Ben, apologizing for interrupting us. I’m not exactly sure why this moment stuck with me, I guess it’s because I was thrown off guard that I was in the presence of someone I had been watching for years and it was the worst time to try striking up a conversation. Kyle, I hope wherever life takes you is exciting and fulfilling. Thank you for inspiring the community to engage with you artistically through your streams, bonus shows, and betting specials. I hope you continue to inspire people in your life after EZA. Good luck and stay safe! Hey Brandon and Kyle. So I know that Kyle’s favorite way to start a podcast is with a game announcement, but how about in a showcase? Introducing: Phenomenology https://photos.app.goo.gl/wNDb1rRwMZvsNUKi7 The universe is fragile. A hundred dimensional streams intersecting, coalescing and colliding. When these streams collide, the boundary between form and thought collapses, bringing chaos. This is where you come in! As an adequately trained transdimensional patcher, you have been assigned to Earth with the task of finding dimensional collisions and fixing them before Humans destroy everything with their simple, simple minds. Phenomenology was born out of the complete failure of another game. When Kyle began creating Don’t Call Me Mama, I got excited about the prospect of creating my own Game Boy game. However I quickly found myself unable to put together the story and gameplay flow in an interesting way. This was leaving me frustrated as I was spending far more time trying to figure out what the game even was rather than actually designing it. After a long hiatus I decided to scrap that project and start over completely, but this time I would do pesky stuff like plan out the plot, characters and gameplay beforehand! The game is progressing pretty well with a demo of the opening chapter planned for release this week. You can follow my adventure in amateur game development at: https://jon-is-k.itch.io Before I go I want to say that Kyle has been a source of inspiration for me over the past few years. Kyle’s candid talks about his own struggles have helped and motivated me many times. I know for a fact I would not be here now, so far outside my own comfort zone trying to make a game for complete strangers if not for Kyle. So thank you Kyle for helping me on my own journey to find my main thing and be a better person.

Well, March was a month. I played a bit more of Death Standing. I can't... the story is just horrible. I have no desire to care about any of the characters in this game. Nothing has taken me by surprise. Whenever something plays as a big reveal, my brother and I would just turn to each other with an apethatic look and nod our heads. For example, we figured out who the guy getting the pizza delivery orders was right away. Me, from the point that gee, it isn't showing a person for this one, I wonder who it could be. My brother, he actually read the name... Peter Englert... as in Peter Higgs and Francois Englert who won the Physics Nobel prize. I swear, if Kojima was a character in this game, it would be Try Hardman. Finally, those BT encounters are dumb. Great, just let me get dragged by them, run away from a monster for a bit until it all disappears and be done with the encounter. I'll just pick up my shit afterwards and continue... and still get an S rank somehow. OK, whatever, I just stopped caring. I don't think I have ever had a tougher time getting through a game. Maybe the end will change my opinion, who knows. I also played the Final Fantasy VII remake demo. Now, I wasn't a big fan of the original. I will admit, the opening sequence had something to it though. The demo I played, was none of that. I remember my brother and I joking about it throughout the duration of the demo, but that is the only thing I really remember. It had nothing that stood out or was memorable. The only thing the demo accomplished for me was going from thinking about checking it out, to deciding to pass. Speaking of blind fanaticism, I did play One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4. It wasn't great, or even good really. The camera was complete trash. 80% of the cutscenes are copy and paste from previous games. The whole thing felt lazy. Even the localization. I regret putting money into it. For those who hear it tells the story of One Piece and may give the game a go, don't. The story, just isn't done well. Even knowing the story, the dramatic points they highlight barely get a response. It doesn't do the story any justice at all. I know it is a long series, but if you happen to find yourself with a little extra time for whatever reason and looking for a solid way to pass the time... may be worth giving it a go. If you are curious and ever find yourself in that position that is. Finally, Kyle, thank you for all the laughs. Your wit and humor were always a welcome source of entertainment. From the days of known you leave behind, to the unwritten future that awaits you; I hope your days are filled with good health, happiness, and success. Cheers!

Kyle Montage This was the most stressful video project I've ever done - 19 days of long hours and late nights while saddled with a slow computer, slow internet, and cheap video editing software. Then barely making the deadline after having to deal with music copyright issues, which you will hear the unfortunate result of. The video is 5 minutes 43 seconds. If you absolutely MUST cut the video, do it at 3 minutes 24 seconds, though that's really where the fun BEGINS. Given the ordeal I went through, and given it's Kyle, I really hope it's played to the end...ALL the way to the end. ;-) And even given the censored audio, it's still worth it for me to say...TURN. IT. UP!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O-bnDvx3qo

Hello Jones, Bosman, and Allies! Earlier in the year, I was bouncing around the idea of creating a Box Peek Card Game and doling out a set of cards each month, with a focus on that month’s Ally. Since this is Kyle’s last month with Easy Allies, I decided to pick 10 cards (1 based on each Ally + 1 extra bonus card) as a very small dedication to the show’s run. Just for a general sense of the rules – think Triple Triad from FF8 on a larger grid mixed in with degenerate gambling and trick powers somewhat akin to Yu-Gi-Oh! Hope you all enjoy Distraction System 417: the totally unlicensed Box Peek CCG! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ixEUa-czD4sG1_UQeL5tnk0ei1bEkPaI L&R, Accounts Payable (“AP”)

Hello Brandon and Kyle. I wanna start my contribution to the showcase off with a personal message to you, Kyle. As a supporter of easy allies for two years, I'd just like to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. While I often found myself disagreeing with you on a multiple on topics more than I did with any other ally, I cannot and would not deny all of your hard work and creative energy. You are a big part of making Easy Allies what it is, and if there ever is a new ninth ally to replace you then they have some big shoes to fill. I sincerely wish you well in whatever endeavours the future has in store for you, I'm certain you'll do great. Now, let's talk about Animal Crossing, shall we? I have been greatly enjoying my time with New Horizons so far. I adore how this game looks, I love the vibes it has going on, and I really appreciate all of the tools they give you with which to customize your island even though I don't know what to do with them myself. But okay, listen, do you want a hot take? Do you want an Animal Crossing: New Horizons hot take from your truly? Because here's my hot take: Games media has really gravitated towards talking about Animal Crossing as "the perfect escape from troubling times" and "having arrived at just the right time" and while these sentiments come from a good place, I believe talking about the game in this light does it a disservice. It paints the quality of the game as being dependant on how stressful life is for the player. The truth of the matter is is that New Horizons isn't a good game because it's a good escape, but that New Horizons is a good escape BECAUSE it's a good video game. Okay, let's gush about something now, because it's very late as I'm writing this and I'm very tired and not very coherent. Last month, Riot Games revealed and released the reworked version of the playable champion Fiddlesticks, and as far as I am concerned they pulled off a home run. Fiddlesticks was part of the games' initial release ten years ago, and it really showed, as his entire character concept and aesthetic could be summarized as "evil scarecrow." But the team at Riot took this goofy scarecrow and turned it into a legitimately horrifying monster that really plays into the theme of seeming like an ordinary scarecrow when you're not looking, only to turn into a screeching mess of grasping shadowy hands as soon as you take your eyes of it. Special mention has to go to voice actor Kellen Goff, whose performance is amazing and also very creepy. He was given the task of voicing something that doesn't have a throat to speak with and somehow he NAILS it. Well, seems like I'm out of words for this month. Next month I'll probably be talking about Magic the Gathering again, but now it's time to go to bed. Love and Respect, Small Leviathan P.S. And of course, godspeed, dark prince of nerd media.

G’day Jones and Kyle, This is my first time writing into the Community Showcase, but with Kyle leaving soon, I hoped to share what I’ve learned in trying to find my own “main thing”. I wanted to be a scientist ever since I learned that “paleontologists” are what you call people that dig up dinosaurs. Throughout school, I loved learning about how the natural world fits together. So, I went to university, did a couple undergraduate degrees and a *long* PhD, and 10 years later I was a qualified, published microbiologist, with a job offer in a great lab on the other side of the world! Feeling very plucky and ambitious, I moved from Melbourne, Australia, to Vancouver, Canada. Unfortunately, things didn’t go smoothly. The lab head was disinterested, usually off at some illustrious conference. My work, while successful in some ways, started to feel more and more like a slog. Worst of all, an old depression started to grow. Slowly, I started to realise that the excited curiosity I felt when learning about science was very different to actually DOING science. And despite everything, the years I’d spent studying, and moving across the planet, maybe it wasn’t the right career after all. It was about then I heard that the Canadian government was pushing to include more research in how it created public policy, and hiring scientists to help this. I'm certain a younger me would have thought government work would be incredibly boring. But as I read the application I realized all the skills they were looking for were things I had been doing for years, just extracurricularly, in the margins. So, I applied. July last year, I got a phone call. I’m a similar age to Kyle (33), and I don’t know yet if this is my “main thing”. Perhaps a “main thing” is actually an active process, with constant revision, not a destination. And it’s been hard. I made another big move, this time across the continent to Ottawa, with no family or friends. I faced an incredibly steep learning curve, and for the first time in years I felt truly out of my element. But I also learned that there is no such thing as wasted time. Last week, I was able to draw on my experience in science as I was asked to help inform Canada’s policies for supporting vital research on COVID-19. The old depression is still there, but I’ve never felt more fulfilled. Kyle, I know it won’t be easy, and it might not be what any of us expect, but we all know you’ll do something brilliant. For me, I’ll miss the unique way you engage the community to create a sense of belonging, like the time on Bos V Woz when you sent me off in the buran because I lucked out by betting “4-5-6-7-8-9”, or the time you read my L&R question where I innocently asked which games we love now but would look back on as “Shreks”, leading to a needless comparison to Princess Bride and a cancerous bit that still haunts us today… Tomorrow is forever all (y)ours, James - @BlindlyFumblin

Hi guys, With Persona 5 royal at the moment I do-not have time to really come up with something amazingly creative to submit at this time. I am playing animal crossing, but my town looks crazy because I am ignoring it. One dumb duck villager forced onto my island has created a love/hate relationship for me with animal crossing. Anyways, Persona 5 Royal has kept me very preoccupied and I just wanted to hop in and thank kyle for all the amazing streams he has done. It really bums me out now that my brother and me missed meeting you while we were in LA for E3 2019 (also missed Don and Huber.... oh well). I wish you and EZA the best going forward and hope you guys stay safe during these crazy times. Sean P.S. Jones, whenever huber shows up on a showcase in the future I will have that batman beyond movie pitch all ready to go.

Greetings, Jones and Kyle, hope you are both doing well in the interesting times we are in. Times are interesting for me as well with a baby on the way and also being on unpaid furlough from my job for the foreseeable future, but things are still good. My wife still has her job and I'm presently looking for temporary work, there are a lot of folks who have it a lot worse than I do and my heart and prayers go out to them and everyone being impacted by the virus. Thank you to both of you and the rest of the Allies for your continuing coverage and positivity, I appreciate all of you. I will gush a little extra about Kyle since you'll be departing soon (as soon as L.A. decides to let you go lol) and you are actually the reason I know about EZA. I came in very late into the life of GameTrailers, in fact I don't even remember how I stumbled across it, but I do remember what I stumbled across: The Final Bossman. I was immediately enraptured with this quirky, silly, and yet poignant commentary on the games industry. I was devastated when I heard that GT was closing and thrilled when I heard EZA was launching. Now I am saddened to hear that Kyle is leaving but I totally understand and I wish you all the best and that you find success, I'll be waiting to see what awesomeness you do next. I love the energy, fun, and silliness you brought to everything you were in. I'm going to miss the Bits! I'm going to hear the "Bossman critique" voice! I'm going to miss the shade being thrown at Bioshock, even though it is my favorite shooter! (Bioshock tangent: yes, I feel your criticisms are mostly valid, especially in regards to the ending, and while I see where you are coming from in regards to the twist, it didn't really hit me the same, so I guess, like a lot of art, it's up to interpretation.) I'm going to miss you, Mr. Kyle Bossman, and I treasure all the laughs you have given me at your time with EZA. There are things game related going on with me, especially with the extra time on my hands (although I'm also working on writing a book!), but I think I'll save that for a future post. Again I appreciate all the EZA crew, and all the content. I'm praying for everyone to stay healthy and we will all get on the other side of this as long as we help one another and go through it together. L&R, OutcastWriter

Patreon old buddy, don't let me down.

Hey Brandon and Kyle. Could I ask that you watch my video before you read the rest of my comment. I’ll keep it short. Please go easy on it. I only gave myself three days to learn how to use Adobe Premiere and cut a trailer. And I’ve never cut a trailer before… https://youtu.be/bzctXaI9kog I can’t believe I just made Trailer Jones watch a trailer I created. I’m probably shaking in fear right now. So, when I sent you my fan game it was called Uneasy Alliance. I know quite a few people in the community wanted to play it. I hated the thought of someone, who maybe couldn’t convince a friend to play, having to beat up a lifeless ally. So I started making a single player mode. Which spiralled into a huge world with levelling up, multiple weapons and armour, a tonne of bosses and multiple ways to complete the game. It is called Dawn of Don. The rest of the allies have taken on alternate forms due to Salmon Globe experiments. Don must track down each Ally and destroy them to return them to their original form. The name of the multiplayer is now “Broken Bonds”. This change is because there are no uneasy alliances in the context of the game. And trust me, I’ve tried way too hard to give everything in the game context. There are new skins, new levels, new moves and I’ve fixed that invincibility glitch that broke my heart when it happened during your stream of the game. I’d love to tell you more but I’m sure this showcase will be mighty full, so I won’t Hog your time. This wasn’t the way I planned to announce that I was making this. But the chance to show it to Kyle before he leaves is worth not having the shadow drop later. Thank you, Kyle, for all the entertainment from GameTrailers through Easy Allies. I really am going to miss you man. Love and Respect Adam Henry

Hello Brandon Jones, Hello Kyle Bosman Animal Crossing is all-consuming. Time simply vanishes into this black hole of simple joy. Not that I am in any way surprised, this has happened before. Day after day, I go to my Switch software list sorted by longest playtime, and I see Animal Crossing rise. Only Smash Ultimate, Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Shield and the current number one, Breath of the Wild, left to beat! I have so much fun shaping this plot of land, watching my neighbours follow butterflies, do yoga poses, or eat a sandwich sitting against a tree. Still on a mission to finally see my beloved K.K. Slider! By the way, I was honored to hear my K.K. Version of the Easy Allies theme played at least at the end of the GranBlue Fantasy Versus stream! Kyle, thank you. I love you, I'll miss you, and I wish you all the best on your quest to find your Main Thing. I made some music, riffing off Rufus's greatest hit, Love & Respect, and the Podcast theme, and I tried to come up with appropriate R.U.F.U.S. acronyms for the occasion: «Remember Us Fools, Unassuming Star», «Remain United Friends Under Strife», «Rattata User Faints Upon Shiny», but couldn't land on a definitive choice, so it's simply called: RUFUS. Hope you enjoy, I need to get back to my dear island! Link to the music: https://youtu.be/Vm-B1_4i96w

Hi Brandon and Kyle. Hope you are doing fine during these harsh times. Our company is part of the essentials so my days are pretty much the same except the chance to get the virus is there during commute or at work. Hope this works!

Greetings Brandon, I believe it is unfair that I would write a lot to Kyle in this post which I felt a need for, and also put my video with a lenghty comment in the same post. So I created a second account for this post. Since I tried a few times and my post vanishes every time, I put my words in a google doc. I hope this is no problem, but I really don't know what to do to solve this. So here is Part One: bit.ly/letter2kyle

Greetings Brandon and Bosman, I want to say thank you Kyle infinitely for giving your amazing talents and bringing a revitalising and uncanny presence to Easy Allies. I always loved your peculiar demeanour, unorthodox opinions and that nutrition rap you performed as well as your trial. I hope that whatever you get up to in the future it’ll be as awe-inspiring and as truly legendary as your time at GameTrailers/Easy Allies-thank you for all your ceaseless dedication and commitment. I want to personally apologise for making Kyle walk out of the room when I said that Conker’s Bad Fur Day was one of the funniest games I’ve ever played last month-although I won’t lie I found it hilarious although I was taken aback by how you could detest Conker so much. You weren’t very nice to Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit-do you feel any remorse for your cruel criticisms of it? Also How did it feel attempting to ape Michael Huber in that Huber Hype episode about survival horror? I must say this was immensely rewatchable. Which Resident Evil game do both of you think is the pinnacle of the series? I am split on which is my favourite. The zombies in the original RE2 scared the hell out of me when I was a kid and they still give me chills-especially with those fixed camera angles. I felt the same way about RE3, the dread worsened because I had it bought for me when I holidayed in Spain back in 2001, so I contended with a language barrier on top of all those slumbering flesh-maulers-and as a 9 year-old at the time I just couldn’t untangle the webs of dread let alone language. Initially I was dismayed by RE4s absence of zombies but ultimately, I realised it’s the most important and quintessential RE of the lot. I’d argue that the Resident Evil Remakes devalue the zombies as hapless fodder, whereas the PS1 games the zombies were in smaller numbers but were far more terrifying. Remade Resi seems to be far more about visual enhancements than radically improving the horror-do you agree with this? I am curious as to why A Plague Tale: Innocence was almost completely shafted from the EZA Game of the Year Awards save for Huber’s mention in his list of personal best games of 2019? I get that the gameplay was a bit too linear and rigid-but that story certainly deserved more love. Lastly, is there any chance of an Ally writing a book? Huber writing a book on Resident Evil or Brad on his love of Final Fantasy VII are books I’d read vigorously. Maybe a tome about Brandon’s ascension from growing GameTrailers and his experiences in games media. And I’d be totally entranced by a book Kyle writes because his views are always charismatic and fascinating. Thanks once again for all your efforts and keeping us entertained during these pressing times. Love and Respect.

Hi Kyle and Jones, I usually share music, but today I want to share a story that led me to where I am today. Almost a year a go, Kyle Bosman came up with a bit (well, he came up with a lot of bits). But through this bit, he created something called the Glinny's cauldron game jam. This was during a time when I had just finished up my second year of stable administrative work at my former music college and was feeling a bit stuck. I decided to post my portfolio in the community forum and got asked to join a team led by a now good friend, Lilith Walther. We ended up making a game called Swordcery. This game was my first legitimate interaction with the EZA community, and my first time ever working in game audio. Through my incredible experience with my team, I decided that I would take a masters program focusing on interactive audio and implementation, adding the music and sound design I made in Swordcery as the basis of my new portfolio. Now finishing my first year in my masters program, I had the honor of working on four video games as a team lead, composer, sound designer and implementor, was called about an audio position at a 'AAA' studio, and continously work towards learning more and more about something that I am extremely passionate and excited about everyday. I think about what my life would have been if Kyle Bosman did not make this bit. I think about what my life could have been if Kyle Bosman wasn't who he was. I probably would be still working at that college hoping that one day I wouldn't be. I teared up in class reading Kyle's post about leaving EZA, not because I was sad to see him go, but I was happy that he was looking to grow. His post resonated with me because I found myself in a very similar scenario. Like Kyle experienced, my gut told me to take a leap of faith, and it definitely takes courage to do it, especially when you have a community behind you, but I hope you feel the support and love that we are all willing to give you through this decision. You inspired me to be better and be bold, and I hope that today we, as a community, have been sharing stories that are inspiring you too. If you are ever in Toronto, Canada, please do not hesitate to get in touch because I would gladly help you out in any way I can. I look forward to hearing where you end up, and best of luck being the best you, Kyle. Love and Respect, Mason Victoria (@masonachu)

Jones and Kyle, This is a rather bittersweet and odd month to be writing a showcase submission! Of course we have Kyle soon leaving, but we also have this big global catastrophe. Its been rough having a semester of college essentially cut short, but Ive been trying to focus on the bright side of things. Ive gotten to spend more time with my little brother, been able to start chipping away at my backlog, and have been learning how to better politically digital organize instead of just in person organizing. Speaking of that backlog - I finally got around to playing Arkham Knight, and then followed it up by replaying Asylum and City. City is still the strongest of the bunch, though Knight comes very close. Knight’s story might have been my favorite, its just a shame the side quests were either weak or too short. Asylum still holds up, and the ending is still kind of weird - but in retrospect it holds up better. This has also prompted an Animated Series rewatch! Im onto season two, and Im surprised by the episodes I really dont remember but are spectacular. “Perchance to Dream” in particular I had no memory of but damn is it good. (Has Kyle seen the entirety of the Animated Series/New Adventures? And Im curious what his top Batman movie is [Joker is not an acceptable answer], Batman Returns has always been my top!) Animal Crossing has of course absorbed much of my life - but honestly this horrendous bunny day thing is making me play less each day, Im sure Ill be more consistent after the 14th. The big one now however is Persona 5 The Royal. I need a game like this right now to just throw myself into, and even though this will be my third playthrough of Persona 5, its somehow even better. I would write a little note about Kyle leaving, but I already did in something I sent along a few weeks back. Unfortunately I sent it right as things started getting crazy, so if it doesnt arrive in time - I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors! Stay safe and healthy, and chat - wash your hands. L&R, Tyler @tmgm528

Hi Brandon and Kyle, I've never posted here before so I hope I'm doing this right. I just wanted to tell Kyle best of luck and I can't wait to see what you do next. We'll miss you in the videos but I'm sure you'll be joining Buttons on that farm upstate. I made an Animal Crossing version of your MiniBosman artwork from way back in the GT days (links to both below). I don't know why but I've always loved it, its been my laptop and desktop wallpaper for years. You all have kept me sane throughout grad school and Kyle's jokes and bits always turn a wry smile. I could write forever but instead I'll leave it at thank you for everything. https://imgur.com/4tdppLe https://imgur.com/47j0AUN Anthony

Hello Kyle and Jones. I don't really know what to write into these things so I just wanted to say thank you to Kyle for starting the True Art segment of his streams. I think it created an incredible through-line in 3+ years of streams that made it feel like wildly different games and streams were part of a continuous narrative. It made me care for games and especially characters that I would never have thought about before. I can honestly say that Ezekiel, Buff Frog and Tootsie are some of my favorite characters in recent memory. Thanks again and I hope that if you ever start streaming regularly again you'll bring back the art show. Sincerely Olf Himself

I think Patreon ate my post, so re-posting here: Hi Brandon and Kyle, I wanted to share with Kyle the backstory of my first patron d&d character since I always felt that Kyle’s creative mind and playfulness resulted in him bringing so much to Tabletop Escapades with Yogala, Fame and Villiand (not Palvin, just kidding). You always think outside the box and bring a whole new perspective to anything you’re involved in, which was exemplified in how you play d&d and was a pleasure and a joy to watch. Tabletop Escapades season 1 spoilers ahead FYI. For some context, I started playing shortly after Khalveid was destroyed by the Nightengale soldiers. Schmucktar is a red dragonborn barbarian: “When he was just a young boy, he was found and taken from his home by ruthless salesmen wanting to turn a quick profit. He was taken to the cut-throat city of Khalveid and sold to the highest bidder, simply to exist as part of a collection to one of the wealthiest citizens there. Schmucktar would often be taken out to be shown off on the city streets, and one day on such a stroll he and his owner met the sweets man at his humble shop. His owner displayed such a rude and horrible treatment of this innocent sweets man, belittling him and threatening to destroy his business unless he got what he wanted for free. At that moment, Schmucktar finally snapped; he would enter a rage he had never felt before that was so overpowering that he killed his owner that day for everyone to see. When the rage subsided, he was surprised to find that he was not being taken into custody, but that people seemed glad that this horrible person no longer could torment those struggling to make their way in Khalveid. The sweets man ended up taking Schmucktar under his wing, giving him a kind father-figure to look up to that he had never known before. In return, Schmucktar would be the always-watching body guard of the sweets man, making sure nobody would ever treat him the way his former owner did and that the only kind person he's ever known could continue his passion for making the best sweets in all of Eserim...until the Nightengale attack happened. When the city was attacked and turned to smoldering embers, Schmucktar was unable to protect the sweets man, and witnessed him being cut down by a group of Nightengale soldiers. Schmucktar doesn't remember exactly what happened after that, only that his rage was so strong that he was able to cut through any purple and silver armored soldiers in his path on the way to a boat where he would escape. He looked back at the trail of bodies he left behind, unsure of where he would go and what he would do from there.”

Hey Jones and Kyle, here is another update on Mimeo Prophecy - the action RPG made in Dreams. Thanks for checking it out by the way and including it in your Dreams review. A lot happened in the last two months and I made huge progress. I showed you the beginning of chapter 2 in February aaaaaand completely reworked it. This time I have a real trailer. The first I’ve ever made. I only made it because Kyle is leaving EZA. To include something in the Community Showcase this month. I will keep this very brief: Kyle, you’ve been an inspiration for me and this project. Your world building and characters in both Box Peek and Don’t Call Me Mama But Yes I Am Your Mama have influenced me and taught me valuable lessons which I can apply to my game now. Thank you for everything you’ve been a part of since the GT days. It was always a joy and you can be proud of yourself. I hope to see new projects from you in the future. Thank you Kyle! Kyle, From your very first Playstation Do's and Don'ts video, your personality was so human and lovable that I was immediately hooked. Your Dumb Game Monday streams taught me to care about games in ways I had not done before. Your tetris streams gave me the confidence to think "Maybe I can stream too." There too much to mention everything. I can never repay you for over 7 years of countless laughs and pure joy you have given me. But with so little time, I will try my best. If you remember on a showcase last year, I jokingly pretended to play the Kyle Tetris Theme in Pop'n Music. I felt a little bad about doing that. I hope this makes it up to you. After fiddling with old japanese software these past 3 weeks, this is what I created. Again, for all that you have done, thank you thank you thank you! https://youtu.be/Ml1YLLYcP1w

Hello Jones and Kyle. Things have been pretty chaotic lately and last month especially has been very difficult for all of us. Currently in my country pretty much everything is shut down and we are only allowed to leave home if we go to get something to eat or some medicine. Thank God, I can work from home so at least I don't have to worry much about that, but other people are not so lucky so my thoughts are with all of them.I know you guys are pretty much on the same boat so I wish you the best and take care of yourselves while all this madness goes through. There is no much I've been doing for the last month, pretty much besides working I've been playing a lot of Animal Crossing, unfortunately my village is not as incredible as some of the ones other allies have, I was amazed on how unique some of those islands were while Jones visited them on stream, pretty much means I need to keep on working on improving and collecting things on my island. Besides that I just started Persona 5 Royal, so pretty much that will be another 100+ hours of JRPG for me. Finally, it was so difficult for me to know that Kyle was leaving Easy Allies, I've been following all of you guys from the GT days and I always thought that you will always be together. Of course I understand that this was only wishful thinking and that all of you have different goals in mind that someday you will all try to pursue. And to Kyle, I wish you all the best in the world, you have an incredible mind that can create things no other person can and I know that whatever the path you have chosen to follow, will be the correct one. And there will be days that you will question if the decision you made was the correct one and probably you will feel sad about that, however please remember that we all in the EZA community loves you and if you need a bit of support, we will be here to give that to you. Well, that will be everything from me this time and as always, I wish you the best. Amor y Respeto. Miguel.

Hola Kyle y Brandon, I’m sure Kyle needs a breather by now, so I’ll talk about my gaming backlog first. Played Ori and the Blind Forest for the first time right before playing the Will of the Wisps release and loved both games. Similar in terms of art and music, but the world building in the second one had a cool Hollow Knight feel. The side missions kept me distracted and nicely stretched the game out. Next was Devil May Cry 1,2, and 3 on the Switch. I played 1 and 2 back when they originally came out and didn’t understand why everyone disliked 2 so much. I remembered thinking how cool he looked, and the mobility you had right off the bat. When I re-played 2 though...wooof....what a wake-up call. Huge empty maps with nothing to really do, hardly any story, and so on. 3 was by far my favorite. Between attitude, story, fighting styles, and variety of weapons, this is exactly what I remembered Devil May Cry to be. After that, I played Streets of Rage 1,2, and 3 with my son using the Sega Genesis Classis Collection on the Switch. I only had 2 and 3 as a kid, and man am I glad I never had 1. It was intense, but luckily, we could create checkpoints. 2 was our favorite because it had a nice combination of music, levels, and difficulty. Only thing I cared about in 3 was playing as Dr. Zan, considering he doesn’t play like any other character in the series up to that point. My son noted how each game looked better than the last, even though they all came out on the same console. Luckily, we also got to try #4 at Pax East, and can’t wait for that release. Now to Kyle... Will I miss you, and what you bring to EZA? Without a doubt. But I think what I might miss more is what you bring out in the other allies. Whether it’s the devilish grin in Jones, your frenemy relationship with Ian, the troll bros aspect with Damiani, that eruption of creativity with Don, annoying Brad with your bits, coming up with comedy that resonates with Huber, in depth game discussions with Ben, or wise cracking remarks with Blood, you add something to this team that none of the others really have. Knowing you won’t be there will be tough for sure, but I can only imagine what it’ll be like for you, basically departing from a group of guys who probably feel like family by now. You remind me that having fun and being goofy is ok. My kids always enjoy when I make up songs or stories on a whim about random things, or even when I make jokes, usually the inappropriate ones. I know whatever you go on to do in life, you’ll excel at, whether you ever truly believe it or not. Thanks for everything! Amor y Respeto

I'm currently residing in NH actually but that is neither here nor there lol. I'm loving the book and it's really worth the read. Considering my feelings about religion, I didn't think I'd be too into it, but I love the way it's handled and it works well with the story. Amazing job Gino! Can't wait to finish it!

Hello, Brandon! Hello, Kyle! I’m a first time poster and I became a patron just in time. My real name is Nikola, but my artist name is Nik Gothic, and I live in Belgrade, Serbia. It’s so strange to be writing here for the first time and having to see Kyle Bosman off, and having this virus pandemic happen to top it all off. I’ve been following the GT train loosely for 15 years, though I was only watching the top 10 lists and retrospectives, all honeyed with Brandon’s smooth voice. However, through all those years I did not know who the people behind the curtain were that made GT work, and it was only well after GT came down under and EZA started that I discovered Brandon's smooth voice once again, and also found a way to hear more of it, which was through the weekly EZA podcasts. When I started watching the podcasts, I had no idea who any of these mysterious people were, and it was a little difficult to adjust to them at first, and it was especially hard to form a good impression of Kyle Bosman. Initially I thought that Kyle Bosman was an evil, evil man. He was always playing devil's advocate, he was always having contrarian opinions on games, and was constantly rewriting the rules of the EZA Hall of Greats on a whim. But after a solid two years of sitting down and listening to him I’ve eventually grown accustomed to his sense of humour, and realised that actually - he is very good-natured, he just doesn't want to show it. And now he often cracks me up in the most unexpected ways. My favourite thing he ever did was the sizzling Top 10 Chumps of Mortal Kombat, where his comedy power was at 100%. Now I’m really going to miss him and all his jokes, and I have a theory that the reason he's disappeared from EZA is because Brandon gave him a killing blow during one of the recent Hall of Greats when Brandon nominated Plants vs Zombies. In the video you can just look at his contorted face and the pain and suffering in his eyes, the Dark Prince of Nerd Media being stabbed in the heart by a Morgul blade. Brandon's little boy will now have to grow up knowing his dad was a murderer. (Just kidding, I bear no ill will towards Brandon or Plants vs Zombies) I’m sad to see you go, Kyle, but you're a talented host and you have a bright future ahead of you, and I wish you all the best. And I’m terribly sorry that Mega Man Legends never made it to the Hall of Greats despite your valiant efforts. Thanks for everything, Kyle. L&R, Nik Gothic (@Clownboss) --- P.S. If it weren’t for this sad goodbye, I’d talk more about myself since I am a comic aritst. Since I have little room to talk about anything else, I’ll just throw a quick selection of some of my concept art for a 3D adventure game about a young boy born in 14th century Egypt and his pet monkey, who took on a life of grave-robbing, and are having adventures accross the ancient tombs of the Middle East. The Spirit Temple from Ocarina of Time was a huge inspiration for this, except it will have a lot more platforming - and a lot more grappling hooks. If you believe I am already breaking the word limit and that you can't show the images, then don't bother including this last paragraph, and only show the first of the 9 images. Hi Brandon! Hi Kyle! Wanted to thank you both for all your work—but in a roundabout way. After my dad retired from the US Army, he spent five years serving in an emergency boys’ shelter. It was a Christian ministry that worked with the state to provide housing to several dozen teenage boys—the demographic least likely to be placed or adopted in a regular home. These boys were dropped off by social services immediately after some kind of crisis—their parents might’ve been arrested or worse. There were kids who arrived in the middle of the night just hours after seeing a parent die. So they got checked out by a nurse and sometimes a trauma counsellor—and then there was my dad. Ostensibly, he hung around for security. Maybe one in twenty boys got violent. But more importantly, my dad was the guy who sat with the kid in the big living room, handed over a burger from Wendy’s, and offered to play some Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo. There were boys who refused counselling, medical attention, and even food, but not a single one hesitated to pick up that controller. Sure, it was the 90s, so most low-income kids thought that video games were novel. But I swear that out of all the fun stuff at that facility—ropes courses, sports equipment, art supplies, acres of woodland, you name it—nothing else helped kids open up faster. And my dad hated SF2. He still knows it as the game with the big green guy and the flying communist. But out of all the great things my dad has done, few things picture his love better than trying and failing to beat those kids at Street Fighter. My dad preached the value of discipline and hard work, but he also taught me that, out of all the gifts that comprise human nature, nothing helps us connect better than play. In principle, the best games reward play with beauty. I don’t believe games help us escape so much as they help us focus—on creativity, gleeful abstraction, responsive artistry. These are vital to our well-being, even more so while we work hard to fix the many, many problems in this world. Sometimes beauty will journey its way up a fantastic mountain—and sometimes it’ll kick M. Bison in the face. All that to say—I’m thankful to you for nurturing a thoughtful, welcoming community to discuss games. Unlike other groups out there, you don’t seem to promote gaming as a be-all-end-all OR as a callous revenue stream. You don’t seem to worship games or reduce them to technical specs. Instead, you celebrate others’ creativity with your own. You model the decency you ask from your community. You celebrate examples from a medium that, at its best, inspires us to play with love and respect. I’ve enjoyed the ride-along, and I’m excited for what both of you tackle next. ---Cloisterance

(Duplicate in case my first comment will not load properly) Hello Brandon and Kyle. Let’s talk about Dreams. Before it launched, I was curious about Dreams, but I had no idea whether I want to play it or not. On one hand, I liked LittleBigPlanet trilogy and Dreams seemed very similar. On the other hand, it was long time ago, and I had no active desire to play similar games since then. So I chose to wait. In December 2018 I’ve watched Cup of Jones where you were very frustrated by the fact that you weren’t invited to participate in Dream’s beta. After learning from you that there is a beta for Dreams I’ve registered for it and two weeks later I’ve got an invite. I wanted to send you the code, but ultimately decided to use my only chance to try this game for free. I liked what I saw, so when early access version was released for half price I’ve bought it. There wasn’t a campaign in the early access version, so I decided to try its creation tools. And I was blown away. My PhD was about Human-computer interaction, so I heavily researched user interfaces and computer-science educational tools. And level creator here has the best UI I’ve ever seen. It’s not just easy to understand, to learn and to use, it’s consistent among completely different tools. For example, if you’ve learned animation, you already know how to do music since they both use recording and timeline metaphors. Dreams really should become a part of school program, because its accessibility will help kids to try everything and discover their talents. It’s not that hard to imagine a famous filmmaker, who discovered his passion for cinematography by messing with camera in Dreams. But what about playing Dreams? Unfortunately this is the part where the game falls short. Literally short. Its campaign – Art’s Dream – is 2 hours long and other Media Molecule’s levels can be finished in 5 minutes. Yes, there are countless user-created levels to try, but even the best ones aren’t even close in terms of quality. You can do something and break the level. Or camera will struggle with level’s geometry. Or something else will tell you that author isn’t as talented, experienced and/or dedicated as full-time professional game creators. And I can understand why. When I tried to make a dream, I enjoyed doing things I’m not good at. But when I was implementing level’s logic I was constantly wishing to just write C++ code. And I bet that other developers feel the same. The best ones will not make their game in Dream – they will use professional tools, which are more robust, impose less creative restrictions and allow to sell your creations. Yes, user-generated level may have excellent ideas, but I’ll rather wait until level’s creator joins the industry and releases a proper game. So what’s my verdict? For me personally, Dreams fails as a game, but excels as an educational tool. It not what I came for, but it was a useful experience.

Dear Kyle, Figured this might be a chance to indulge in a little Final Bosman nostalgia by going full circle back and asking what do’s & don’ts would you offer Sony this year for the inevitable ps5 reveal event. Hopefully this doesn’t come across as a cop out message to fair you well but it’s dawning on me that I haven’t fully processed your departure into anything remotely articulate. This lone shambozoo needs a little more time to consolidate some more personal memories of an influential 7 years of entertaining Bosman goodness. Love & Respect to this decent human being. Even with the current predicament we find ourselves in, I wanted to bring my thoughts on Ori and the Will of the Wisps and DOOM: Eternal, and how, if it isn’t delayed too badly, I’m playing my deluxe edition of Final Fantasy VII: Remake for the rest of this month starting hopefully next week. But for now, to discuss my gaming in March, after quite a lengthy wait I have finally completed two of the most anticipated games I had for 2020. Both are great games and personally, they live up to the anticipation I had. And I’m very grateful for that too, because like everyone else, I’ve needed the escapism to help the time go by faster. Of these, I want to talk about DOOM: Eternal first. I finished it a week ago, and I’m very impressed. I’m happy it’s as punishing as it is on the easiest difficulty, and I love the level design, including all the fun secrets and easter eggs it has. Combat shines when each demon has a weapon or two best against it. This had me always switching up my arsenal and balancing if I needed health, armor, or ammo. And every time the answer was always ALL of them. Battlemode is fine and its easier but still challenging to win as the Slayer if you’re playing against randoms, but against a coordinated team of demons is incredibly hard. As for Ori, it was a total delight. I have been a champion of Ori since Blind Forest for its art style, world, and story, and Will of the Wisps improves upon all that and more. The gameplay, particularly combat, is the most improved and having a great amount of variety in what skills to have and weapons to equip, allowing for multiple playstyles. However, Will of the Wisps has one glaring flaw the Blind Forest didn’t: Technical performance. My game clock says I finished the game in 17 and a half hours, and it felt like every 10 to 15 minutes of that entire time, I would encounter slowdown or outright game freezes, so in the middle of a tricky platforming section or dealing with a fight, it would pause and I would have to wait it out. The game even crashed on me five times. Thankfully, Will of the Wisps has an extremely generous auto-save system, a major improvement over Blind Forest’s “create your own save point structure,” so of the few times the game acted up and I wasn’t able to recover, it always loaded me very close to where it failed. To conclude, I just to send well wishes to everyone out there as I hope these words find you in great health and spirits. And finally, to Mr. Bosman, one final thank you for all the times you chose a submission from me for Love & Respect as it always made my week. Whatever your life’s Main Thing will be, I hope it brings you happiness and fulfillment.

Kyle, you will be missed. Even at your trolliest moments, you have always been a force for good within this community. Because of you and “Brandon Plays Pokemon”, I picked up Pokemon Red and played through my first Pokemon game. I have since followed it with Sun, Platinum, Crystal, Sword, and am close to completing my run through White. Applying to go back to school is not an easy decision to make. I worked as a graduate teaching assistant for my master’s degree while in my 30’s, so I wish you good luck. You and all the allies have made a difference in all our lives, and I believe you will continue to change lives in the future. Love & respect, Bob Lienemann (rhymes with cinnamon)

So, during Kyle’s Q&A on the night he announced his departure, I wept. I know I wasn’t the only one, but that’s weird, isn’t it? I don’t know any of you from a bar of soap. I’ve never met you. I’ve interacted with some of you on twitter, I’ve sent in like two pieces of shoddy True Art, I hang out in the streams, but I don’t *know* you. So why was I roaring my eyes out at the news that one of nine random people on the internet was going off to be a random person on his own? There’s a strange one-sidedness to being a “personality”. We spend so much time with you, yet you spend no time with us. I wouldn’t say I’ve been horribly lonely over the last four years, but I have been a single PhD student in a foreign country for most of it. Even when I’m working, I’m often at home in front of the computer, with a stream or video in one corner of the screen. In that time, I have probably heard your voices – perhaps Kyle’s most of all – more than any other human. This is slightly horrific, of course, but I imagine it’s true of more than one person in the community. I can think of one other time when I was similarly heartbroken. That was at the retirement of a cricketer (don’t laugh!) called Alastair Cook. The thing about cricket is that it lasts for a long time. Test cricket is played over five days, with six to seven hours in a day’s play. Alastair Cook opened the batting for England, which meant he was there at the start of every innings and would sometimes bat for hours and hours on end. He once batted for nearly fourteen hours under the hot Abu Dhabi sun. You do get to know someone in that time, even when he isn’t speaking much. You start to recognise every little movement, every mannerism, every sign of good or bad form. A cricketer can bat for a long time, or for a very short time, and every batsman has as many failures as successes – when Cook was out for a low score, it would feel like a dagger in my heart. Cook succeeded and failed in front of me for 12 years. So, yes, when he announced his retirement, I cried; and I cried again in his final match; and in his final innings; and I felt no shame. So too do I feel no shame at crying when you announced you were leaving; I daresay I shall cry again for your final podcast, and your final stream. I don’t know you any more than I know Alastair Cook. But, within the peculiar parameters of this one-sided relationship, you truly do mean a lot to me and I will truly miss you. Hey Jones and Bosman, I'll get to Kyle in a second, because I first want to talk about Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Man, it feels so good to dust off my Switch just so I get back into AC once again. I'm taking my time as usual with this game, even though I spend a few hours each day playing it. I doubt by the time Jones visits my island it will look as cool as the ones he's been visiting on stream, but dammit I'll try my best. Is the game perfect? Of course not. Crafting one item at a time is tedious, the tool durability sucks and the online could be better. Still, I don't see myself dropping this game anytime soon. Maybe in 3-4 years. One last item: I would shit on Bunny Day cause holy shit, do we need that many egg recipes. But dammit, I'm rocking the Egg Party Hat/Dress and I look FABULOUS. Thanks Zipper! Now to Bosman. Kyle, you’ll be hearing it a lot during this stream, but thank you. I loved The Final Bosman. I never thought I would ever spend time watching someone play video games extensively on late Monday & Friday nights, but you proved me wrong. You’re the reason I bought both Knack and Knack 2 on their release dates. And I never even played them, let alone removed the plastic wrapping (feel free to judge me). Your “Trial” was absolute gold. Even if I was going through the motions of just listening to the EZA podcast from time to time, you would always find a way to make it entertaining, whether it be a game or some goofy bit. You even asked three of my Love & Respect questions I submitted so I’m extremely grateful for that. Even though it felt like an eternity to get it completed, Box Peek was top tier entertainment. Your creativity and imagination is truly a sight to behold. All of us are going to miss you, but we know you’re moving on to bigger and better things. Here’s my final word to you, Kyle. Bang Karl

Good afternoon gentlemen, This was originally going to be one of what I’m sure is many goodbye and good luck posts to Kyle but it turns out those things are really difficult to word. Plus, it feels weird writing some sort of farewell and then continuing to throw comments, questions, and jokes at him from chat for another couple of weeks. So I think that’s going to end up being an email. Something he’ll be waiting on the edge of his seat for, I’m sure. Anyway, in lieu of having anything else to write about, here are some Animal Crossing screenshots. Some of this may look familiar since Jones was here just a few days ago. 1. The whole neighborhood gang. For now, anyway. Samson the Mouse already said he wants to move away and I’m letting him because it makes no sense for my island to have two jocks on it and only one bookworm. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1abzCoNK2Hs_bIOWhuA8Ck8e0S4mOAOuy 2. Greetings Jones and especially you Kyle, Kyle, are a beautiful, talented, clever, and creative individual. You are one of the first people I saw when I started watching Easy Allies, I wrote 7 full books worth of chapter layouts within 4 months because of the Gundam Streams you were on, Box Peek and your Game Boy Stream are a delight and fill me with optimism on my own work, and your tagline for “Achieve It Yourself” (I.E. Achieve Your Dreams) is deeply inspiring and a motto to live by, even if your dream is to rob Ben of his money in Astral Chain. I too wish to change parts of my life, including moving myself away from where I live, and the feelings of leaving friends behind so you can have a better or more satisfying life is, of course, difficult to say the least. But, I feel that change is a necessary part of life, and if you feel the need to change your life, it is for the best, because it is what you believe is best for yourself. This community will never forget your time on either Game Trailers or Easy Allies, I’m sure you’ll always be welcome back if you are ever back in California. Thank you Kyle, thank you for being you. May Fate Bless Your Path in Life. Love and Respect, R.F. Switch P.S. This is the Finale, Bosman.

Hi Kyle and Brandon, So this month I want to continue to show progress on my Mega Man video, but first I just wanted to give a big shoudout to Mr Kyle Bosman. Kyle was a big part of why Gametrailers became on of my most visited sites and I've probably watched The Final Bosman through 3 or 4 times. Also there was a time that I didn't understand why people streamed games but then found myself oddly hooked on you playing through GForce, and subsequently I've probably lost quite a few hours of work time having Bosman V Wozniak on the "the background", but actually being intensely focused on it. I'm guessing that because this is Kyle's final showcase this may end up being a long one. So if I don't manage to stay up to see it all live I just want to share the sentiment that, while you will be very missed at EZA, we're all behind you on your quest for Main Thing and wish you the best of luck with everything in the future. Okay, so just a quick note about the video. This is the full planned out sequence, only the first 2 shots are fully animated, the rest are in a blocking/layout stage and all effects are placeholders. Also Brandon, forgive me for double dipping at the end of the video, but I wanted to see Kyle's reaction to that clip. https://youtu.be/5yLfLzgLIes Responsible, socially distant Love & Respect! Dave Cleland PS. Just for my own benefit I recently re-watched the stream where you guys opened the Lego Easy Allies set and I heard Kyle say it was a gift for Brandon. Not to take anything away from Brandon, it was meant for everyone, but obviously super happy Brandon built it on stream.

noticing there is never a good page to end on. lol

Hi Brandon and Kyle, I am using my showcase spot for my sister, Christi Anne Abraham, she is also an Allie and we will both miss you Kyle, Tetris streams were her favorite. Again if anyone want's to read a bit ahead the comic can be found at www.themessageofcyan.com but soon we will only have about 4 pages to post here each month, so it might become a bi-monthly thing. Previously on the Message of Cyan: Farook a god like creature offers cyan one wish for the countless people she has killed. She attempts to offer her own soul in exchange for the ones she sent him, but Farook says he can see what she truly desires. http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page10.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page11.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page12.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page13.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page14.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page15.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page16.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page17.png http://www.themessageofcyan.com/images/Page18.png

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7uLLUFTWog Years ago I shared with Kyle two photos proving that I got to meet David Wise at MAGFest 2017. This year's MAGFest was Donkey Kong themed so naturally they got David Wise to return and this time he did several performances with his own band made of Rare developers and collaborations with the incredibly talented Super Soul Bros. Many Easy Allies community members, myself included, have expressed how much they will miss Kyle and how much he means to them, but some things just can't be expressed with words, so here's a montage of live performed David Wise music. This footage was captured on my phone or from the official MAGFest Youtube page. There's a quick story at the end that I think Kyle will appreciate. It's about an obscure videogame soundtrack that he shared with us on Twitch that I just discovered may not be so obscure after all. -Joe

Things that make me wanna – Editorial Warning: sentimentality Do you ever hear a song that just makes you wanna? Something you could have listened to a million times, and could hear a million more? Here’s a few of mine: Caution by the Killers makes me wanna dance like I’m in the library with The Breakfast Club. Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen makes me wanna drive like I’ve got nothing to lose, nowhere to go, and no limits to how fast I wanna get there. Colossus by Idles makes me wanna dive into a mosh pit for hours and hours, feeling nothing but that joy of being alive. Supercut by Lorde makes me wanna find the people that matter most in the world to me, hug them and tell them how much they mean to me. There are tons of things in the world that can make you wanna. Like Kyle wanting to find his thing makes me wanna find mine. Maybe I’ll be a sculptor. Maybe not. All I know is that I must be honest to myself and myself, and I’ll find my thing. Ill find my alchemy. Ill find the thing I was meant to be and become the person who I need to be to get there. Until then, I’m going to try and be the best me I can be. Thanks for reminding me of this Kyle. Thanks for reminding me of this Brandon. Listening to Easy Allies makes me wanna be my best version of me. These trying times make me wanna let you know how much you mean to me, and let you know that you 9 make my life better every day. And you don’t even know me. Love and Respect, Spencer

Hey Brandon and Kyle, This month I spent most of my time playing Red Dead Redemption 2. I was trying to finish the story before Doom Eternal came out, but I have only made it to chapter 6 so far. I have also been working on ranking up in the online mode. I am now up to rank 41.  As the online contains daily challenges and a daily streak, I do at least 1 challenge each day. This keeps my streak going which increases the gold reward for each challenge complete. Instead of just 0.20 gold for a challenge, I now get 0.50 gold. Gold in the online mode is the premium currency. It is nice that they give you an easy way to earn this currency as it does mean if I want I can save up and buy the battle pass without spending any real cash. I do need to get 40 gold for the battle pass though so it takes a little time to save up for if I do just 1 challenge each day. Towards the end of the month I got Doom Eternal and also Doom 64 for free because I pre-ordered Eternal. Both have been fun games so far. I would like to use this chance to shout out CriticalReviews on Twitch and Youtube. I recently started watching him on Twitch after he appeared with Ian on Easy Update. He does variety streaming and is happy to take suggestions on what to play from viewers. Lastly I want to thank Kyle for all his great content. The Tetris streams are one of my highlights from Easy Allies. They were always entertaining and I found myself avoiding spoilers for what score Kyle hit when I started watching the VOD. I look forward to whatever you produce in the future, and hope it will be something we can join in with in some way, even if just a stream. Good luck no matter what you do with your life. Hello Kyle and Brandon. As I’m writting this it’s sunday March 15th, just 2 days after you broke the news, Kyle; and I’m not over it. It really hurts that you are leaving, and while your reasons are valid (and even if it weren’t, who are any of us to stop you), whenever I think about it, it feels bad. Ever since that PS4 dos and don’ts video (that I just watched again) my admiration started, just because you always had a very likable personality in the videos, and then you started moderating GT time and it showed that you were not just a funny guy, but a very professional one. You don’t remember this, but after the game awards 2015, I got to shake your hand and talk a little bit. I got to meet Jones, Amanda and Elyse that night, but no disrespect to the others, getting to meet you was the highlight of the night. Had I known at the time that meeting fans stressed you out, I wouldn’t have approached you and just thought “there he goes, the man”; but exactly because I now know it is not your favorite thing to do, I appreciate more that you took the time to chat for a few minutes. I always thought I would had another chance to talk to you in a EZA meeting, but not anymore. I just upped my pledge to the fan mail tier for this month; something I been wanting to do for a while, but didn’t because the PESO/dollar ratio has sucked the last few years. I thought of maintaining it at least for a year to assure I would get a sample from each of the allies. Now that you are leaving this is my only chance to get one from you; if you are still going to to that for April that is. It’s a calculated risk that you may have fulfilled your last chore of the type in March, but it was a risk worth taking, even if the odds of my username landing in your bucket are 1 to 9. Anyway, I’ll miss you Kyle. I have wondered for a while what is the psychological explanation for this attachment I have for you guys, I mean, most of us, community members, are strangers to you. We have got to know you quite a bit for years, and most of us care about what’s going on with your lives, ups and downs. Every time I think about it I realize it’s weird I feel this attachment to strangers over the internet, but in the end it doesn’t matter, does it? The good thing is that the positive energy I get from you guys helps me move forward in life and be in touch with my favorite hobby, video games. Have long and fruitful life, Kyle. I’ll end this with the phrase you coined, used for the last time as a signature. Love & Respect. César.

Hey guys, First of all, thank you for everything Kyle. You will sincerely be missed! Second, last month I told you all about the book I have finished writing. I offered it to anyone who wanted to read it, and an ally from California took me up on it. I sent him the book, which I believed he enjoyed, and I am very thankful for his feedback. Thank you Juan! So once again I would like to extend another invitation to all. The following is a better description of the book. Have you ever been so upset you could just scream? How about kill? How about being so rageful that everything in sight becomes a target for your decimation? The name of my book is Hail Mary: Wrath. This is a fantasy/supernatural novel about seven fallen angels which now represent one of the seven deadly sins. They are bent on eradicating mankind, who they blame for their fall from grace, and it’s up to a secret organization called Hail Mary and their latest recruit to stop them. Alex West is the newest teacher at a private academy In New York City. Everything in his new life is going well until he gets kidnapped by members of Hail Mary, a centuries-old group of warriors created to covertly eliminate an insidious threat. Now, it is up to the members of Hail Mary, Viktor, Dasha, Frank, and Sergio to train Alex to become a hunter but also keep him from finding the truth of his tragic past. And they need to do it before the fallen angels can execute their plan to induce global warfare. Be safe and all the love and respect to such a great community, Gino PS...Brandon...I would love for you to narrate the book. But much work still has to be done before then. I will let you know!

Hey Kyle and Brandon, First off, I’d just like to take a moment to thank Kyle for being so open and revealing about his creative process, whether in the form of the Gameboy streams or the monthly Box Peek updates. Just knowing that someone else had gone through and experienced some of the same creative struggles and breakthroughs that I had honestly helped me find some much needed perspective and more importantly, a sense of focus. Submitting to these showcases has been a fun source of motivation these past 7 months and I gotta lend some of my thanks for unintentionally nudging me towards this point. Oh and yeah, this song is from the PS2 rhythm game Gitaroo Man. It is called “The Legendary Theme”. Thanks for listening, Adam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUEZwmAWG-A&feature=youtu.be

Hey Brandon, hey Kyle. I've had a hard time putting how I feel into words since the news of Kyle's departure from Easy Allies. I've been depressed and kind of checked out. The initial shock was similar to how I felt when I heard Spiderman was leaving the MCU, in a lot of ways EZA is losing it's Spiderman. With that depressing news the thing I was looking forward to was EZX, just a ton of group streams, would have been jolly as hell. The most important of which was a Megaman Legends stream where Kyle could basically showcase what makes this game a great before he leaves and has no opportunity to nominate it again. It has always been one of my favourite games since I was a boy. The atmosphere of the interconnected dungeons, the world that's so alive, the way you play and the things you do have impact, not to mention the cast of characters and villains are so iconic. The art style holds up! I could go on and on about this game, but words won't sway opinion, that's why the biggest gut punch was not having that Megaman Legends stream. Something I love as dearly as Megaman Legends won't get the respect it deserves when Kyle is gone. That's partly why out of all the allies I gravitate towards Kyle the most, the weird niche games I love, that none of my friends know or care about like Megaman Legends or Digimon World, he loves them too. And out of all the allies he really seemed to encourage and foster creativity of the community when it came to fan art for his streams, which I respect the hell out of. Hopefully when Kyle picks streaming back up on his own, showcasing fan art is still a part of them. All that being said, I'm not utterly and hopelessly depressed, I'm happy for Kyle that he's off to pursue his THING. That takes a lot of courage and I sincerely hope he finds it. I'll be a lifelong fan and can't wait to see what Kyle does next, and if it's not a public facing thing, I'll just enjoy his streams whenever he gets back to them. With all the love and the utmost respect, POKEY CLYDE.

Hey Jones and Kyle, I am sure a lot of people have a similar story but I too found EZA through randomly stumbling upon a Final Bosman episode and the rest was history. I have been a patron of EZA since February 2017 and you were the first ever patreon I had ever given too as the thought of early access for the podcast was very alluring. EZA has been there for me through good times and bad times and the Easy Allies podcast has always been an amazing constant in my life that always brings a smile to my face. Kyle I will miss your voice from my life, I really love that behind all the snark there is a man who actually cares about people. I hope your future endeavours give you the fulfillment that you are seeking and you remember your time at Easy Allies fondly. Okay on to the happy stuff. the year of March has been hard on all of us, I am personally still at work as Liquor Stores have been deemed an essential service in Australia. every week is bringing new restrictions to my shop which has heightened my anxiety and depression each time. The greatest thing to come of this hellish year of a month is Animal Crossing. I have never played an Animal Crossing game before despite owning all Nintendo hardware since Gameboy and N64 but I knew this was the game I needed. due to financials I bought it a week later than everyone else but the constant flood of good vibes pictures kept me afloat in the interim. wow what a calming game. My anxiety has been very in control since picking up this Zen title and my depression alleviates every time the game cheers you for doing the most mundane tasks. I love this game dearly and now my wife and my son have both pitched tents (now home's) on my Island and we are having a blast sharing items and my 4y.o son sending letters to his mum and I with gobbledy gook words. Thank you Animal Crossing you made March bearable. Also a massive shout out to Wes Bates from the EZA community for inviting me to my first ever discord room where all the discussions have been jolly and I even took part in a discord monthly Game Club which I was able to attend despite the time difference. We played Cosmic Star Heroine this month: the game was a pretty good snippet homage to Chrono Trigger with some really clever item management systems. That's all from me L&R Steven Beaumont

Hi Allies! Elaine from New Zealand here. I'm back with a new track this month. Want to wish Kyle all the best, wherever life takes him from here! I'll miss you a bunch! Hanging out in chat on your streams has been a highlight for me, and i'll miss your running gags, bits, and jovial joyousness. But I probably wont' have to miss them for too long, with whatever your next project may be! This is only twenty six seconds past three minutes... (Really, just twenty seconds over, the visualization runs long), So hopefully the ending doesn't have to be cut too much! I did all of the VFX/vizualisation stuff myself, including the little titlecards at the beginning. I hope you guys all enjoy it. It's a rock/electronic track, probably my best produced work yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET90IgYiUY8

Hello Brandon and Kyle.
