No Rufus!!!? This episode can’t be called L&R without the classic musical intro.

Not trying to say that what Damiani said about GPU sales was wrong, but it’s also not entirely true either. You should look at the Steam hardware surveys. There are 90 million active steam accounts and about 7 million of those have GPUs that are in the flagship family. The 80, 80 Ti, and 90 series, for example. The most popular GPU seems to be the 60 series, which goes for about $200-300. Those seem to sell in the tens of millions. To say that GPUs don’t sell as well as consoles is true, but at the same time, probably just as many people bought a $300 GPU as the number of people who bought an Xbox One. Also, there is the matter of GPU binning. There is really no such thing as a budget GPU on PC. A 3060 is basically a 3080 with disabled cores. It might be a defective 3080, but I don’t really see any proof of that online. In other words, Nvidia will design one video card, and they will gimp it on purpose and sell those cheaper versions. But the flagship card is the actual product that they engineered. So, if the console is a gimped RDNA 2 “Big Navi” card... then the console doesn’t really move PC tech forward, it’s the other way around in my opinion. One thing that is definitely true is that PC games aren’t really the focus anymore. Almost everyone develops for console and then brute forces the PC versions to get more frames. Sometimes the PC version gets special treatment, which is happening more often now with RTX features. In other words, PC gets the tech first, console gets it later and makes it mainstream. PC in turn benefits from more developers using the tech. (Which is what Bloodworth said.) And finally, there is only one piece of tech that PC has that the new consoles don’t have... DLSS. Nvidia uses their supercomputers to render parts of the game, then include that data with their drivers, so your video card doesn’t have to render that on the fly, it already has the data saved, and it can use the GPU time to render other things instead, resulting in more frames. I hope that Sony and Microsoft implement their own DLSS technology. Rumor is that the next Switch will use DLSS.

So you want people to not like things.... That's okay for a general discussion, but this was about something near and dear to their hearts.

With questions like the first one regarding the back of the box, if all the allies seem to be in agreement I feel like Jones should challenge someone to play devils advocate. I remember Kyle appointing people to be against the popular opinion which I think makes for a better discussion sometimes.
