Cup of Jones - February 22, 2021

Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akrQQ8oD45g

I’m pre-recording today’s episode because I’ll be looking after the little one in the AM while Amanda is busy with a sweet acting gig. Last week was a good week for Easy Allies’ exposure. We reacted to three separate events, produced a review and a preview, and covered Zelda’s 35th Anniversary in two different ways. To top it off I went into the studio and made some improvements which I’ll cover in today’s editorial. We’re starting to get a clearer picture of what the first half of 2021 is going to look like, and so our production plans are evolving as well.

Heya Jones, Really? That's very interesting. No, I won't say anything but...wow. But does Easy Allies have the cool, clear eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth, the upturned chin and grin of impetuous youth, or the slam, bang, tang reminiscent of gin and vermouth?

Asbo Zappruder

Mr Jones, I know it is not always interesting for the allies, but why not chase trends and popular games more? Madden, GTA online, Call of Duty, Minecraft and Fifa are sure to have huge audiences but you guys seem to shy away for lack of interest. I agree about not being drawn to these games, but with a creative premise or goal and the allies personalities there is huge entertainment potential. Would it not be worth tapping into these games to try to grow your audience and patreon numbers? Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla

Hey Jones, You didn't answer my question from the previous week :( Can we get a weekly Huber Marvel show :)? Thanks

Hello! The way you take questions with Cup of Jones, I'm sure people would enjoy the other allies doing it as well. Having each of the allies do their own special episode seems like a good idea for the next patron party. Throwing that out into the ether.

Hey Jones, Will you do another spoiler mode for FF7 Remake Integrade with the Yuffie update? If so will Maximilian Dood be back? The previous spoilermode with him has over 600k views. Also enjoyed you guys on the fast and loose podcast.

Friendly reminder to promote your upcoming MinnMax appearance :) I plan to submit some comments to the Deepest Dive, so I'll see ya there!

Hi Jones, I really enjoyed the first episode of Fast & Loose Internet Talk Show. Although Ian did a great job of trying to keep it true to its name, I thought that answering Patron questions would make it somehwat similar to the monthly Patron Q&A. Do you have anything in mind to make sure that it does not become quite similar to the patron Q&A? Of course, doing this would mean adding some semblance of structure to it which goes against the name. Maybe a better way to phrase this question is, as a patron, what would be a better place to ask a random question, the Monthly Q&A or F&L? Thank you and L&R - Jash My first ever Cup of Jones question!

This is a bit backdated, but on the podcast that the team talked about Mass Effect Legendary Edition and the lack of Multiplayer, everyone but you said how much they loved the Multiplayer. I personally have put in probably 10 times as much time into the multiplayer than the single player of all the games combined, and I've done a few playthroughs. How about a stream with the guys playing the multiplayer? Three vets returning to an old friend, and bringing you in as the "Carmine"? Just remember, the A button does EVERYTHING.

Did you play Star Wars Galaxies and if so what did you play class wise ? It was so unique having 32 classes that you could combine how you wanted. Master Doctor / Master Tera Kasi was a force ( pun intended ) to be reckoned with! . Figured I’d ask since you are fond of a little Star Wars!

Hey Mr. Jones! As a fellow father, how do you manage to play games and still take care of your son, especially when Amanda is busy? Same goes for your work. Do you have a system/split shifts that work for you and her? All the best and keep it up! Bogdan B. - long term fan since the early GT times

Hello Mr. Jones. Since others have sent their opening segment ideas, I'll try to sell you mine. You are no strangers to bets, so while I know this may sound redundant; I present to you the "Community side bet" Each week you pick a bet from a member of the community. No steaks, no scores, just something related to gaming or pop culture for the allies to try to guess. For instance: When will "The Last of Us Part 2" be released for the PS5? Open and only time will tell. Another could be "How many avengers will guest star in this week's episode of Wanda Vision?" That one could be solved by the next show. It's up to the submitter to announce a winner, whenever the answer unfolds itself. Just something to consider. Estamos en Contact, César.

Also it seems like my question got eaten last week. So. Is there a preferred platform for your content? IE: Since I can only listen, I have been using my podcast app. But would it be better for you if I listen directly through Patreon or YouTube?

Dr.Medic

As a trucker, I can only listen to your content. Video games streams are not the greatest for listening content. I adore your produced shows and podcasts. Maybe, in the future a dedicated group of streamers, a Stream Team; and another Team for reviews/podcasts/longform video essays. I've been following since the GT days, and I miss the amount of listener friendly shows. I know I'm in the smallest group of consumers, but Easy Allies are the best in the business. L&R

Hey Jones, I was also kicking around an idea like the Review&A before I heard another patron bring it up last week. It motivated me to share my ideas on the topic as well. It seems like reviews are a core tenant of EZA, but require a lot of work. I was thinking of a way to leverage the work that goes into reviews into more content. My concept for review&A is a live streamed show where the reviewer is playing the reviewed game, and discusses live and/or pre collected questions with chat. (Live questions would give a better feel of community "dialog" to me) The gameplay section of "The Gen That Was" inspires this concept. I like the feeling of playing and talking about a game at the same time in that segment. This could also make for great BTS Patreon content as a patron exclusive stream, advertised at the end of each review (as the plausibility of patron only streams permits). It's clear to me that every ally is working extremely hard already, so new show ideas are a hard sell. If this idea finds traction in any form, that's great. Wish ya'll all the best, monodlee

Hey Mr. Jones! After the recent Nintendo Direct, I saw your tweet about a couple trailers being not all that great and coupled with some of the commentary during the post-show from yourself and the other Allies, I recognized in the moment something we both really enjoy could potentially work, but before my question, I want to make it very clear: No, I am NOT asking for this to be implemented, and I don’t expect it to. This is just an observation I was hoping to hear your opinion on: Would it be productive to have a Trailer Jones segment be a post-show exclusive for applicable Reactions only? While watching said post-show, I noticed when a new game was being discussed Mr. Damiani was pulling up the trailers for the discussion, and there are a panel of Allies already there, discussing said announcement and trailer break down. Not new obviously, but while Trailer Jones was active, I never put two and two together since both the show and Reactions were still being produced. But now, with the show on the backburner indefinitely, I thought it was a fun thing I realized could be added at the end. With any Allies who want stick around, you could still go over the trailer of the presentation, the trailer that could’ve been better, etc. From one trailer lover to another, I can’t get enough content on trailers. Thanks as always for reading, and have a wonderful rest of your day! Cheers! QUESTION: PREFACE: I am NOT asking for the following to be implemented or even expect anything to come from the following, as this is a fun realization I had, and wanted to hear your thoughts: Would Trailer Jones work as a Reactions post show exclusive segment at the end when it would make sense (as in only for Reactions you would be on and Reactions that would warrant it)? Since Mr. Damiani is pulling up trailers and there is a panel of Allies discussing each announcement, the format of Trailer Jones fits pretty well by its structure within how the post-shows work. Yourself, Mr. Damiani and any Ally who wants to stay at the end (if any at all) could score the best trailer, the trailer that comes up short, and other fun trailer topics could be had. You could also separate it off the end of the main archive as a spin-off video. Again, I am NOT suggesting this as a regular show or even worth pursuing, and as everybody’s busy with their respective workload, the extra time at the end probably wouldn’t justify doing this. Just as a trailer fan, I felt this would fun to bring up.

I guess only Brandon's get the first question :(
