As the week ends we’re now anticipating open-world Pokémon adventures and co-op Aliens shooters we didn’t even know existed. We’ll be enjoying these later this year while we lament the “reorganization” of Japan Studio and our lack of Hololens 2 headsets powered by Microsoft Mesh.

Lobot's backstory post-Disney acquisition was introduced in the Marvel Lando miniseries from 2015. He was a human who was hired by the Empire to run battlefield calculations. Part of this involved modifying him with a battle computer that turned him into a cyborg and removed part of his personality, and could possibly overwrite his mind entirely if he used it too much. He eventually quit the Empire and became a smuggler, where he met Lando. After the Battle of Yavin, Lobot and Lando performed a heist to pay off a debt to a crime boss, only to discover too late the ship they stole belong to Emperor Palpatine. In the course of escaping, Lobot was injured and the ship was set to self-destruct. Lobot used his implants to lift the lockdown on the escape pods, but this coupled with his injury allowed the implants to overwrite his personality, turning him into the emotionless character we meet in The Empire Strikes Back. In the escape pod, Lobot’s implants recited a pre-recorded message for Lando telling him he believed Lando could bring him back someday, but that his skills as a leader are too good for just pulling off heists. The last words of his message were: “Lando, old buddy; you're better than this."
