Topic Suggestions for Next Friend Code
Added 2021-04-01 03:26:29 +0000 UTCNot going to lie, it's pretty rough in the world of Nintendo news after a rich February of Directs. So I figure I'd turn to our community to see what you'd like me to maybe cover on the next episode. Be mindful a deep dive type episode is probably out of the question given the short amount of time we have left to record and edit the episode in time for its posting, but I'll keep an open mind. Feel free to suggest topics below in the comments.

With Smash Bros Ultimate being the culmination of the franchise with every character from the series and a roster that is ever expanding, what do you think is next for this franchise after Ultimate? Where do they go from here?

2021-04-01 15:20:14 +0000 UTCI know you recently did an episode about your Zelda memories, so maybe an episode about Metroid. What do you love about the series? What is your favourite game? Maybe some Prime 4 speculation or hopes and dreams?

2021-04-01 15:09:07 +0000 UTCNintendo's development forces used to be split between handheld and home consoles. But with the release of the Switch and the 3DS put to sleep, those forces have been combined onto a single platform. My question: Are you happy with the output that this has produced? Personally, I can't help but being a bit disappointed. My hopes were that we would see more smaller games like Rhythm Heaven or Wario Ware on the Switch. And I thought that if this should not happen, we would at least get a big Nintendo release every few months. I don't feel like either of those expectations were met. Wario Ware only lives on in my memory. And when it comes to big releases, it appears as Nintendo is busy with the fulfillment of the promises they made when the Switch was new. How about you? L&R Snowcone Guy PS: Mario Kart 8 will be 8 years old next month! Do you think we will get a new Mario Kart before it becomes a decade old? What is going on?

2021-04-01 14:50:25 +0000 UTCTopic: Will Nintendo follow the same 2017 launch blueprint for the switch pro launch? Will Zelda be out launch day? Will Splatoon be in the spring next year with a new 3D mario coming out sometime next year?

2021-04-01 12:21:49 +0000 UTCWhat if Mario actually WAS dead? Imagine Nintendo no longer makes Mario platformers, sports titles, party games, or kart games (because we know Luigi Kart don't hit the same)... What would fill the gap? How would they adapt? What would a world without Mario be like? Would they try to replace him, like when a leading actor in a show dies mid season, or attempt to move on with something different?

2021-04-01 12:16:19 +0000 UTCI second this. 3ds just had its 10 year anniversary so it’s topical. Give us some 3ds essential picks and most likely ports as we have seen the beginning with Miitopia coming to switch

2021-04-01 09:32:53 +0000 UTCI don't know if this has already been done, but I'd love to hear the Allies' (or any guests') experiences with the Metroid series. I feel like for all the talk about wanting Metroid Prime 4, there's little talk about the franchise itself.
2021-04-01 09:02:38 +0000 UTCGame preservation and how both Nintendo and Sony suck at it. Why it's important and what can be done to legally and accessibly to preserve games. And mention the absolute state that is limited releases and the Sanrio amiibo card scalpers paradise

2021-04-01 08:15:36 +0000 UTCFamous Nintendo franchises that have not seen a significant new entry in 10 years or more - Mother/Earthbound, Wave Race, F-Zero, Nintendogs, (Advance) Wars, Kid Icarus (9 years; close enough), Excitebike/Truck/Bots, Pilotwings, Punch-Out!!, Sin & Punishment.

2021-04-01 08:09:14 +0000 UTCWith the release of monster hunter rise one big issue has come up that doesnt get much attention. At midnight est the day of release, when 99% of games are preloaded on playstation and xbox you get to play them, there is even a countdown clock telling you when. On switch, most 1st party games are playable at midnight. But for some weird bullshit reason, 3rd party games are a shot in the dark for when you get to play them. A lot of people stayed up till midnight est for rise and learned just then from a tweet from capcom that the game wouldnt be released for another 4 hours. I feel in todays world nintendo should be telling us when exactly games release, not make it this guessing game every time you pre load a third party game, because what is the point to pre load when you cant even tell when you can play it.

2021-04-01 08:05:17 +0000 UTCBit of a dream booking question. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was a critical success and seems to be a finical success too. What do you think the future of UbiSoft and Nintendo collaboration is. More Kingdom Battle games? What other companies would you like to see Nintendo have collaborations with and with what properties.

2021-04-01 07:09:59 +0000 UTCWell, as soon as you make this episode Nintendo is just gonna announce a Direct the literal next day like always.

2021-04-01 06:41:25 +0000 UTCAlternate history nintendo - a list of "failed" or forgotten nintendo exclusive franchises or initiatives. Are there interesting things theyve done beyond the virtual boy that mightve made nintendo a different company than it is today had they succeeded?
Torben Lindström
2021-04-01 05:43:11 +0000 UTCWhat kind of game/genre/theme would you like a new Nintendo IP to be? Nintendo has a unique take on almost everything they do, and it can sometimes work out to huge success like in the shooter and open world genres. What else would you like to see them tackle?

2021-04-01 05:29:48 +0000 UTCIs Nintendo locked in for another hand-held hybrid next generation? The success of the switch is surely profound but what is the root? Is it the hybrid nature or something else.

2021-04-01 05:22:31 +0000 UTCYou need to deliver Mario’s eulogy
2021-04-01 05:07:12 +0000 UTCNintendo; Mirror Universe. Discuss an alternate reality where characters from Nintendo's most beloved and iconic franchises flip alignments. Discussion 1: Your Villian is now the hero and the hero is now the villain. What does Bowsers game look like? What does Ganon's game look like? Discussion 2: you play as Evil versions of Mario or Link, etc. What would that game look like? Play like? Nintendo: Heroines. Move over Samus, you're not alone! What would you want a ZELDA game to look like? A princess peach game?

2021-04-01 04:44:43 +0000 UTCIf I may suggest: Call the podcast title Friend Code: RIP Mario as a troll and I like vrg's idea about Nintendo's role in preservation. I also suggest perhaps a patron Q&A though there may not be much time for you to gather questions. I'm sure whatever you decide will be cool, Damiani. L&R

2021-04-01 04:27:12 +0000 UTCWildest dreams? Just go nuts on what you want nintendo to do as a company or what you want form a game. Ganon as a NPC companion in BoTW2? Captain Falcon cameo in Prime 4? Don't just say you want a Mario RPG sequel, say what you want int the game basically.

2021-04-01 04:24:32 +0000 UTCI just bought Ocarina of Time 3D on the 3DS because I never completed it. With Sony closing the stores for their older systems, how do you think Nintendo will handle the 3DS? Are there any essential games you recommend? Do you think those N64 remakes have a chance of a Switch port any time soon?

2021-04-01 04:23:57 +0000 UTCHow about the state of game preservation and accessibility in the industry? Sony just shut down the PSP, PS3 and Vita storefronts. The Wii storefront was shut down to the point where you can't download prior purchases. Xbox continues to buck the trend with it's backwards compatibility program. Hell Xbox is even letting their games go on PC and mobile (via streaming): https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2021/03/31/backward-compatibility-reaches-the-clouds-for-xbox-game-pass-ultimate-members/ Nintendo just delisted Mario 3D All-Stars. The Nintendo Online subscription for NES and SNES games pales in comparison to the Wii Virtual Console. Imagine if Nintendo treated their library how Xbox does. At least Nintendo seems to respect their library moreso than Sony: “That, and I was at a Gran Turismo event recently where they had PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 games, and the PS1 and the PS2 games, they looked ancient, like why would anybody play this?” - Jim Ryan I hope that consumer expectations regarding game preservation becomes more demanding in the future. Give me The Thousand Year Door on my Switch please.
2021-04-01 04:22:11 +0000 UTCAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, 1 year later... still playing? I got burned out.

2021-04-01 04:14:51 +0000 UTCAre indie games surpassing the switch ? I remember when the switch was new there were tons of indie games that felt perfect on the switch, but now I feel like more are targetting more powerful devices..

2021-04-01 04:13:58 +0000 UTCGameCube discussion. The tech, the controller, the games, where it ranks in the history of Nintendo consoles. What you would like to see ported to Switch. What you liked/didn't like abt it. Cap it with a kill your babies of GameCube games.

2021-04-01 04:11:13 +0000 UTCThe episode opens with a single question: What if you ran Nintendo? Just a very casual episode discussing different aspects of Nintendo as a business and how you would handle things. What franchises would you focus on? How would you decide what gets HD remakes? How would you handle anniversaries? Just a fun episode full of what if’s. Or you could do a Monster Hunter episode 😉

2021-04-01 03:58:30 +0000 UTCI would like to hear a discussion about Nintendo's back catalog being made available. Is it a pipe dream? Will there be more Retro Console collections? Will the current or future consoles eventually host an appreciable storefront for the gems of the past? Is Nintendo making an error by withholding nostalgia or capitalizing on it? Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla

2021-04-01 03:53:44 +0000 UTCI think it might be a good time to revisit the legacy of the Wii U. Now that most of its notable exclusives have been ported, how will it be remembered? Which Wii U experiences will gamers look back on ?

2021-04-01 03:44:27 +0000 UTCObscure Nintendo games?
2021-04-01 03:41:43 +0000 UTCSecond on some kind of throwback. With the super Mario movie discussion coming up, something like experiences with media related to the Nintendo franchises outside of the game would be fun.

2021-04-01 03:38:24 +0000 UTCAssuming Sakurai is truly done with smash after 2 more characters, is there a currently dormant Nintendo series you'd like to see Sakurai tackle next?

2021-04-01 03:38:10 +0000 UTCA throwback topic could be fun. Discussing favorite N64 games or hidden gems. Maybe go through your most prized Nintendo possessions/games/consoles.
2021-04-01 03:37:39 +0000 UTCMaybe ask the panel how they feel about the first party output of the Switch and since Nintendo unified the handheld and console divisions into one, do they feel like they are getting good output of first party games? Or are we still getting long dry spells in between big releases and tons of remasters?
Babak Karimian
2021-04-01 03:35:25 +0000 UTCI second the talk on Super Nintendo World. I wasn't able to resist seeing footage of it and now I'm so excited that I'm tempted to take a trip to Japan once I can, especially if the rumors are true that the Orlando version won't open until 2025! Not to mention that Donkey Kong Expansion!
Joseph Caruso
2021-04-01 03:35:00 +0000 UTCIf Jones is involved, can we get some discussion on what footage there's been of Super Nintendo World? Though I'm not sure if he cares much for theme park discussion unless he's actually there experiencing it himself.

2021-04-01 03:32:59 +0000 UTCI would love a discussion on Nintendo's IP portfolio. Specifically - what genres are missing? Do you feel Nintendo IPs are diverse enough to appeal to every type of gamer, or do they heavily skew towards a certain niche? Are there certain franchises or genres that Nintendo gives too much attention, or others that need more?
Brandon Ray
2021-04-01 03:32:51 +0000 UTCWhen taking about the next switch, you've talked about the hardware... Obviously. While you have talked about previous Nintendo gens, it was mostly about software. Maybe an episode talking about the tech and specs of previous systems and how they felt at the time?

2021-04-01 03:30:13 +0000 UTCPost Mario’s death, will other franchises or even non-ports use vaulting? Also, what’s coming for Mario next, Kart 9, Odyssey 2, or something else?
