Cup of Jones - June 7, 2021

It’s the week of E3! There are lots of big changes happening to this company one after the other, and it’s all culminating in our return to the studio and a day-after-day deluge of gaming announcements. We’re not going to be reacting to each and every event, but stay tuned to our schedule for live-dates in your time zone and updates as things (potentially) change throughout the week. It’s a rush to get everything done this week, but there are a lot of fun things in store in the next few days that aren’t even technically E3 related. Thanks for carrying us back to the finish line, allies. Have a wonderful show.

I will edit your comment/question before reading it live to ensure the show moves as quickly as possible. I typically grab all the questions by midnight (PT) the night before each episode.

Cup of Jones - June 7, 2021

Hey Jones, First time posting a question for cup (if I’m not too late) and it's regarding podcast hosts having access to a computer. While I’m just as excited as everyone else to officially be out of the “Zoom era”, the one thing I’m gonna miss is the ability the Allies had to look up/google stuff right at their desk mid discussion. Being able to pull up pictures of games being discussed or being able to double check dates, developer names, etc have, in my opinion, added a lot to both frame trap and friend code, since they normally don’t have someone at a computer like Isla is for the main podcast. With that said, how would you feel about Ben and Damiani having a laptop next to them at the desk for this very reason? Do you think the laptops would be a distraction or would there be any technical issues with that? I feel like it is a better solution then just have allies using their cell phones since only the host would have a laptop instead of everyone pull out their phones randomly Unrealated side note, but I just really wanted to thank you for chossing my community showcase submission at the YouTube thumbnail! That plus your comments during the stream meant to world to us and brought a bunch of positive vibes to project right when we needed it. Plus the character in that shot is the one based on me which was a really nice personal bonus haha Thanks again for taking my question Love and Respect Mo Grant aka Mo_D in twitch chat

Hello Jones! Here is something to consider. At the end of every E3, how about putting up a poll or submission for patrons asking which games shown would we want to see on a future group stream?

Hello Brandon. If Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark swapped places, who would do better?

Thanks for the video Brandon

Hey Mr. Jones! Looking at the schedule, it seems E3 is going to conflict with the normal time Cup is, so I don’t know if you’ll do an episode during or after the coverage, thereby making this completely moot. In addition, this question may be too soon, as I want to preemptively ask about the coverage itself as I write this days before the actual event itself. Granted, if this episode is on time like always, Nintendo will still have their Direct to react to, so even then this could be an incomplete to answer. Also, with how busy this past week has been with E3 AND the return to the studio, I’m kind of logjammed with figuring out not only what is worthy of asking (because the pile of questions I have [about the studio, EZA’s new “average” work week, content plans, etc.] could all easily be answered before you get to this), but also with so much going on, I want to be both timely and topical with my question. So, onto it! As in the past, I’m sure Mr. Damiani may solicit feedback about the coverage itself, though it wouldn’t shock me if not this year because EZA is hitting the ground running with the studio return being the reactions AND you’ve said not to expect any new graphic packages, promo video, etc. that would be in a “normal” year. So, what is your evaluation of how it’s gone? With getting back into the groove, is there anything EZA did that’ll be smoothed out over time with being back in person, or do you believe it was as great as it could be all things considered? Thanks again for reading, and have a wonderful rest of your day! Cheers and here’s to E3 and the return!!! QUESTION: If this episode didn’t conflict with today’s E3 coverage, what has been your evaluation of how EZA has handled said coverage so far and any last second format changes with Nintendo tomorrow? With getting back into the groove, is there anything with the return that wasn’t as smooth as you would’ve liked, or do you think it was like EZA never left the studio, picking up right where ya’ll left off, all things considered?

Part of me wanted to ask this as a L&R, but I think the more intimate nature of Cup of Jones is better suited to my current predicament. I applied for my dream job. It's not the first time I've applied for the job, but I just know I'm ready. I'm a good writer, I've done hundreds of interviews and features and news and everything. My rolodex is strong and my byline has popped up on YouTube videos and other news sites and accolade trailers and other cool stuff like that. Not to say I'm "hot shit" or anything, pardon my sassy language, but I've put in the work. So, I changed the homepage on my internet browser to the status page of my application, which was listed as "Application Submitted." This morning, that changed. Now it says, "Future Consideration." Should I take this as a win, or should I scream into a pillow and roam the streets at night looking for petty criminals to beat up, the way Batman vents his stress? I'm in a middle ground between joy and crushing disappointment, like destiny has me in a holding pattern, but it's Die Hard 2 and I'm running out of fuel. What should I do? —Also, if this doesn’t fit the criteria for business/personal question, then pretend I never posted anything.
