Battlefield 2042 - Review

Good review, Huber. As a Huge fan of the Battlefield series I can easily recognize what's missing the mark or simply just missing... But also I can clearly see what's great, and how much better the game can be in time with the right adjustments & additions. Also just to get out of the way, Portal is fantastic and I hope the add so much more to it in the future... However, as for the main game, yes there is much to say, both positively & negatively... Ok... Yes having no dedicated classes sucks, and in a lot of ways the specialist are well kind of stupid & corny.. Yes it's a strange missing certain gameplay elements like being able to "lean" or move backwards while prone seem strange.... and yes evening stranger is the minimal weapon count and the fact there is no proper score board.... ...And of course the bugs are as frustrating as always, especially just trying log into a match, or not being able to pick a load out once your in is terrible... ....However, there is a lot of good here, along with the hope that there is a "method" to DICE & EA's "madness".. Having the freedom to completely define your load out is awesome in theory, but it only really works if everyone in you squad & team are choosing load outs and characters that compliment & synergize with each other. Also, the maps are awesome. There is a lot of depth and height utilized between "flag points", wether sniping from a far distance or crushing over terrain in a tank. As for the weapons, yes it is a smaller amount- but again with the many particular customizations you can unlock and utilize bolsters the theme of acutely defining your unique gameplay experience. The same addict applies to the small amount of vehicles available at launch as well.. I know it's not fair for better launched games to say "the game will get better in time", and its not right- DICE & EA should have to launch the game in a better state. However the scope of BF 2042 is huge, and the potential is even greater. I personally have already had some amazing moments that can only be defined and explained by what has come to be known and expected from the incredible Battlefield gameplay experience. Keeping with that in mind I will continue to play 2042, holding onto the hope things can and will only improve.

Shoutout to Huber's FPS skills! Great review as always Huber. I know it's hard to write a review a game that is so plagued with reputation-breaking bugs but a game that's still fun to play when it works (both in concept and gameplay).

I respect the reviewer’s opinion, but find the takeaway score of 7 highly unrelatable. If anyone here is on the fence about getting BF2042, please do some extra research.

Great review Huber! I pretty much agree with everything you said. Despite the bugs and flaws, I still had a blast, and I think 2042 could have the same comeback BF4 did when it launched in a similarly broken fashion.
