Cup of Jones - December 13, 2021

Happy Holidays Mr. Jones and the Jones family! Please forgive me if this has been brought up on cup of jones before - I'll admit to slacking on making every week. What I am pretty up on is scrolling through patreon on a regular basis to catch up on creators, including Easy Alliles. When I was scrolling quickly past the spoilermode for FFXIV, that's when it happened. As if a stunt in the matrix, the following occurred: I scroll pass it, my eyes glance downwards to avoid the comments hanging below. But my eyes were a second late, and they slow motion lock upon an allies questions dripping with plot details. The forbidden knowledge had been seen, and learned. It would be super awesome if spoiler-mode questions could be submitted via a google form linked in the post, or some such mechanism. I don't believe it would generate a great deal of work for the allies, and might save a future person from such spoiling. As always, Love and Respect to the allies, thank you for your time.

Hey Jones just wanted to comment related to the patron who's phone would not recognize the podcast file. (Probably don't need to read aloud, it is very clerical.) I haven't had that issue but I did notice a few weeks (or maybe months?) back when Patreon's mobile app went through a UI refresh that the podcast file download in the feed no longer had the podcast number in the filename. It just defaults to "Easy Allies Podcast" in the mp3 player app on my phone. (Samsung if it matters) It's only an issue if I'm not caught up and have multiple EZA podcast files, then it starts to add -1 or -2 so it doesn't overlap. Then I might forget which is which. Honestly not too big a deal but it's weird that it only happens with the main EZA podcast file not any of your other podcasts.

Reposting this as it was already posted on the Audio post, just my two cents, no need to be read on the show. Had to make a point to chime in about the end of the podcast clips; I've loved it even more as more clips show up. Would a string of 8 feel like too much? Sure, I think it would. It feels just right already.

Hey Jones, a fellow Jones here from “sunny” Wales in the Uk. Just wanted to say I love the sign offs at the end of the podcast no matter how many there are love the randomness of it. Also loved hall of shame 10/10 Business question, that may have been covered before, would you guys consider upping your lowest tier to $2? I personally would not mind paying so little more when the allies would have a great boost in income from it. Love and Respect.

Hey Jones! i just had an idea for (seemingly) easy to produce show, which could satisfy the demand for top 10 videos. a german channel of video game journalists by the name of game two have a weekly video series that's called "30 seconds about..." in the past, themes have been "30 seconds about your favourite quest", "30 seconds about guilty pleasure games", "30 seconds about the most annoying game mechanics" every person has 30 seconds to elaborate on their choice, after which there is a hard cut. they can also see the clock, which leads a) very fast talking towards the end and b) some people (let's face it, it's gonna happen to huber) being cut off in the middle of the sentence (it's funnier than it sounds) what do you think about this idea? is it hard to produce? there usually isn't a lot of game footage, mostly the person talking, maybe a bit of b-roll or trailer footage. cheers! :)

Now that it’s a brand-new year, it’s time for my annual evaluation question: What, in your opinion, did EZA do well and/or get better at across 2021, and what areas does EZA need improvement? Are there any new things/tweaks Easy Allies plan on implementing for the year, or will we not hear about these things until the Anniversary? I know in the response to my question during the last live Cup you discussed once EZA gets past GOTYs, you all will focus on Patreon (among other items) during your January meeting, so I understand if you can’t answer this until after that meeting, but it’s still something I wanted to ask. In any event, by the time you read this, I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday break so a (belated) Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays, et. al. to you and yours. Thanks as always for reading and have a wonderful rest of your day! Cheers! P.S.: Also, since it’ll be noticeable and you’ve made it a point about it a lot, starting I *THINK* for the episode you’ll read this, I don’t believe I’ll be the first question moving forward (unless you intentionally move it for a given reason) because I got a new job!
