It’s shocking news and probably a net positive for the employees of AB, but the consolidation trend in the entertainment market has me seriously bummed. Yes there are many studios out there, but the triple AAA 3rd party studios are looking pretty thin. My Game Pass subscription just got a lot better, but at what cost in the long term? I think consolidation will make for a weaker and less interesting industry over time.

That would also be 100% in line with their "metaverse" aspirations that they noted in their press releases. This gives me tremendous existential dread.
