Destiny makes a lot of money every year, Bungie has 8 years of making live service games and the technology maturity that goes with that. This purchase isn't driven by IP, it's driven by infrastructure.

2022-02-01 01:17:20 +0000 UTCIt honestly seems like it was a defensive acquisition, whether it was to prevent Amazon/Tencent or someone else from buying them. The price is really high, even if Bungie’s next IP is a hit. A big upside is if the Bungie team can help other Sony teams perfect FPS controls.
