Hi allies! For my whole life I've been avoiding playing horror games. I'm fine with horror stories or mangas/comics, but when it gets audiovisual it's usually too intense to me. But recently I've started trying out horror games because my favorite kind of game (third person action adventure/shooter) is making a comeback in the horror genre. After playing (and loving) Signalis and RE3 Remake, I'm ready to continue my journey with games like Alan Wake and Dead Space. My question is for y'all, did you ever have a similar experience where you started enjoying a genre that you didn't like previously because of how that genre has changed/evolved over time? (Or in other words, when that genre starts to fit your sensibilities more) L&R!

2023-02-02 04:21:37 +0000 UTCMy work schedule is weird. I take care of Sweet Little Old Lady Mary. She's 90! I go in to work on Thursday morning and don't get home until Monday afternoon. Obviously, this cuts into my gaming time. I have a pretty good Remote Play setup, so I can play with my iPad and a DualSense, and my Switch, but I can't focus on anything too cinematic or AAA while working. When I'm home, I'm playing lots of stuff I can beat in a night or two, and lots of non-committal stuff like racing games that I can put down with no fuss. However, it means my backlog of AAA games is really piling up. I haven't played God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, Gotham Knights, Horizon, or any of the other big games of late. And I don't stream anymore, either! And when I do, it will inevitably sad, because it will mean Sweet Little Old Lady Mary will have either died or become too sick for me to take care of her anymore. I don't actually have a question. But I do have a pre-order for the PSVR2, and you can bet your sweet booty Sweet Little Old Lady Mary is going to wear that headset, whether she can comprehend the concept of VR or not!
