Hey Allies, With the latest developments in the Microsoft Activision acquisition, it's looking more and more likely that two characters once considered iconic Playstation mascots will soon be owned by Microsoft. I'm talking of course about Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. While I sit here dreaming about a Crash 4 style sequel to the original Spyro trilogy, I also asked myself, if you could give any iconic Nintendo, Playstation, or Xbox IP to another to see what they could do with it, what would it be and why? Any thoughts? Bonus points if you don't say give Banjo to Nintendo 😅 Love and Respect, Harrison

2023-07-13 09:22:18 +0000 UTCL&R Question: Do you have a favorite type of protagonist to play as in a video game? With silent protagonists falling out of fashion, and quips becoming an option to disable, I'm curious what playable characters you've enjoyed spending time as, and if there are any blind spots that you'd like to see more of.

2023-07-12 20:55:41 +0000 UTCHi Allies, Have you ever dropped a game right before the ending? I remember playing Drakengard 3 and loving it despite its many flaws, but once I got to the true final boss, which was an insanely difficult rhythmic battle that you literally had to do perfectly with almost no visual cues halfway through the battle which didn't have any checkpoints either (look it up on Youtube if you haven't seen it before, it's insane), I knew there was no way I could beat the game so I just gave up and watched the ending on Youtube. On the bright side though, the song in that fight is incredible, and even now years later, I constantly go back and listen to it. Anyway, have you had any similar experiences where you had to give up on a game right at the end for one reason or another and knew you would never come back to finish it? Cheers.

2023-07-12 18:00:27 +0000 UTCHey Allies, Has there ever been a video game you were super excited to play that had fantastic reviews and when you played it you were very underwhelmed/ didn't like the game very much? For me that was Witcher 3 sad to say. I bought the game when it first came out and only recently played and beat it when the PS5 version came out. The main reason I didn't like the game was because of the combat. It didn't feel good at all to me and I didn't need to strategize at all. Pretty much mashing square did the trick with a couple spells here and there and everything died. Besides that the rest of the game really spoke to me but since the combat is a core pillar of the game and it's not very good it brought the whole game down with it for me. What was even more surprising was when I looked at several reviews after the fact many even commented that the combat wasn't that great but still gave it such high scores and I was a bit baffled by that. Just curious to see if you ever had a similar experience like that as I did. Love and Respect, Chris Eyerly

With an absolute bonkers game? The question mark is intentional You play a kid in a cyberpunk Future of 2072 who gets transported into the past of first century Israel to experience the life of Jesus as apostles. It's an open world game with collectibles and apparently able to actually interact with biblical figures. There is a playable prototype on steam, this looks like it is coming out. Have Indies gone too far?

2023-07-11 23:55:17 +0000 UTCHello Allies, greetings from Spain! I miss the golden era of tactical shooters games. I'm talking about games like Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Operation Flashpoint or SOCOM, the last one I played that I enjoyed was Ghost Recon Wildlands. What I miss about those games is how well crafted the single player experience was for people who didn't have other players to play with like myself, and it seems that everything needs to be multiplayer only nowadays, or coop, and that's great, but being able to vibe with the tactical solo experience makes me enjoy those games in a more relaxed way, nothing feels like those magic times. What's missing from that magic feeling of those tactical games? Could a new game like SOCOM with online multiplayer and a focused single player experience work nowadays? Can you recommend me any recently released tactical shooter I'm missing? Love and respect! Alex Bioskope

2023-07-11 22:21:37 +0000 UTCHello Allies, Can you think of a time when life circumstances forced you into playing games you otherwise would have overlooked forever? My first year studying abroad I lived in a dorm with nothing but a Vita and a laptop (no TV of any sort either). Because of this I tried out PC games like StarCraft and Morrowind and while I didn't beat either, I gained an appreciation of why these games are so highly regarded.

2023-07-11 17:56:04 +0000 UTCHello Allies! I'm currently playing Octopath Traveller 2 and while the pixel art of the game itself is gorgeous, I must admit the artwork done for the game is outstanding. Naoki Ikushima's character designs are immaculate and although an official American release is not announced yet, I cannot wait to get my hands on the artbook for the game even if I must import a Japanese edition. Now, my question is: which, in your opinion, are some of the best character designs in gaming? Either a game or just a character, which are ones that come to mind? Love & Respect, Diego Cobos

2023-07-11 15:53:48 +0000 UTCGreetings Allies, Could Redfall save Xbox? Seems like an absurd question to ask about a game that has a 57 on opencritic. But after the dust settled, what really stuck out to me is that Phil Spencer said Xbox, after the Bethesda acquisition, were very hands off with the Arcane Austin and had little to no impact on the development of Redfall. This really surprised me. Though some developers would benefit from a hands off approach I would think that would be rare. What does the panel think, could the disaster of Redfall pave a brighter future for Xbox games and their development? 2023-07-11 14:34:32 +0000 UTCWassup Allies, This year is shaping up to be a big year for the fighting genre. To me, all fighting games of all sizes live and die by their characters. When I think of my favorite fighting games, I think of my personal mains about as much as any other part of the game. In Injustice 2, Bane was by far my favorite character. His massive size, ability to buff his damage with venom, and loads of fun and flashy wrestling moves were the perfect combination of traits. In Smash Ultimate, as many characters as I love playing, King K Rool has separated himself for me personally. He has tons of super armor, multiple spike options, goofy projectiles, and incredible recovery ability. It feels like every move in his kit has a use, and he’s great at annoying the shit out of my friends. I want to know what some of the Allie’s’ favorite fighting game characters are. Which fighters have the perfect blend of aesthetic and play style that make them stand out to you personally? LnR Matt Currin aka HikarW
