Love and Respect, Have you ever experienced something like that? It was the year, I don't know, Tomb Raider 2 came out in Germany. I was really excited about Tomb Raider 2 and my mom took me to the electronics store. We went down to the games section and there it was. 20 copies of Tomb Raider 2 waiting to be played. We bought one and went home. I read the back of the massive CD case and the small manual that came with it several times on the way home. Finally, it was time to play the game on my small TV. The legendary PS1 startup sounds roar and Sony Entertainment Europe Presents is shown next. But then nothing happens. Ok, time to reset the PS1 and once again it stops working, the CD drive makes strange noises and my hopes begin to crumble. After several reboots and cleaning the drive with my mom, we decided to go back to the store. A quick call and they told us that they had another copy for us at the info desk. Okay, time to go to the store. My mom, smart as she is, convinces the clerk to let us try the other copy of Tomb Raider 2 at the demo station before we buy it. Okay, good enough, but the game never loads! The same problem we had with the other copy at home. Everyone starts to get confused as to what is going on after the employee has tried 5 different copies. He ended up testing all the disks available and none of them worked on either of the two demo stations. I was devastated and had to wait weeks before they called to tell us that they now had a new batch of Tomb Raider 2 disks and we could come in and try them out. We did, and finally went home with a working copy of my most anticipated game. I have never again heard of such a broken batch of disks. Do you have any insight into what might have happened? I also imagine that Eidos had to destroy all the broken copies. Keep on keeping on Allies!

[Game Submission - for Love and Respect Episode] Does it Rumble? Hey Allies, My controller feels hollow, like an empty shell, and it's because the vibration and rumble features of modern-day controllers seem to be forgotten, especially for PC games. Controller feedback enhances the gameplay experience for me; feeling the kills, each hit, and sometimes helping with timing moves. It's time to call out these games that deliver a hollow feeling. Can the Allies guess which PC versions of these games either do not support vibration or have minimal support that barely exists? 1. Darkest Dungeon or Sea of Stars • Answer: Darkest Dungeon • No feedback for giving or receiving hits, and it's disappointing. Sea of Stars, on the other hand, provides great feedback. 2. Pentiment or X-Com 2 • Answer: X-Com 2 • Despite being a great game, it feels hollow when shooting or getting hit. 3. Dragon Quest XI or Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney • Answer: Dragon Quest XI • No vibration in the PC version, and it's a shame. Phoenix Wright, on the other hand, does it right. 4. Chained Echoes or Warhammer 40,000 Darktide • Answer: Warhammer 40,000 Darktide • As of July 2023, Darktide lacks vibration support, which is unacceptable for a third-person shooter. Kudos to Chained Echoes, possibly made by one person! 5. Gears Tactics or Guilty Gear Strive • Answer: Guilty Gear Strive • No vibration while fighting in Guilty Gear Strive. The controller only comes to life in online lobbies when you find a competitor. Gears Tactics, however, seems to be made with the controller in mind, putting other tactical shooters to shame. 6. Baldur’s Gate 3 or Slay the Spire • Answer: Slay the Spire • Larian did a great job with its controller support, offering brilliant rumble feedback. Slay the Spire seems like a missed opportunity. 7. Desperado III or One Piece Odyssey • Answer: One Piece Odyssey • No vibration support on the PC version but apparently, the console version of One Piece does have the rumble feature, which is unacceptable if true. 8. El Paso, Elsewhere or Jagged Alliance 3 • Answer: Jagged Alliance 3 • Another tactical shooter that fails hard; destroying dudes with a heavy machine gun could have felt so satisfying. El Paso, Everywhere added vibration after launch, and that's commendable. 9. Dragonball Z Fighters or Trails of Cold Steel Series • Answer: Dragonball Z Fighters • I thought my controller was broken whilst playing DBZ, but it only vibrates in online lobbies and cut scenes. The Trails of Cold Steel games put Dragon Quest XI to shame with their excellent rumble implementations. Thanks for playing! Love and Respect, Robert Lee
