Love and Respect for Feb 2nd Podcast
Added 2024-01-29 21:38:12 +0000 UTCGreetings, it's time to get your submissions in for this week's podcast, including Love & Respect and "The Wrong Question." Be sure to include your preferred name if it's different from what's listed on your Patreon profile. Please submit your entries by Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
Love & Respect:
Type your question, topic, or game in the comments below. If your entry is not selected, feel free to submit it again the following week. We appreciate your support and are grateful for each and every submission, if we're able to include them in the podcast or not.
The Wrong Question:
The idea behind The Wrong Question is to take a current topic that people are discussing, and then twist it into something a little out of left field. So, using the first week as an example, everyone's generally asking "What's Your Most Anticipated Game of 2024?" and I changed the date to 1994. The next week, we went with, "What can Sony do to get more subscribers to cancel PlayStation Plus?"
If you submit a suggestion for The Wrong Question, recognize that I'm only asking one question each week, whether that comes from myself or a patron submission, but if there's something I like, I will make a note of it to perhaps bring it up in the future.
Submissions should be quick one sentence questions without any additional preamble, although you can include a brief "off-air" explanation if you think that helps. Please only submit one suggestion for The Wrong Question per week, but feel free to submit to both The Wrong Question and Love & Respect.

The Wrong Question: To get people excited for the next Nintendo console, what sport should Mario and friends play next?

2024-01-30 23:25:59 +0000 UTCHi Allies: I was curious if you ever go back and watch early gameplay trailers well after a game releases for comparison or things you may not have noticed initially. I recently jumped back into ghost of Tsushima a bit and found myself then watching the original e3 demo. Although there is no hud, it showed off duels, standoffs, and combat stances before we knew anything about them. Ever have an experience like this? Thanks!

2024-01-30 17:20:20 +0000 UTCGreetings Allies, I've finally gotten around to playing the Dead Space Remake and I'm completely in love with the the Plasma Cutter again. For me it completely overshadowes every other weapon in the game. My question for you is: What's a starting weapon you prefer over every other weapon a game throws at you? 2024-01-30 16:02:45 +0000 UTCHello Allies A question for Huber but anyone who has played Lies of P I am loving Lies of P. I love that there are always specters to help you if you want it and even then sometimes they just die before you can kill a boss. The mini bosses are very fun to because that's just you killing them without no help from a specter and it's also very satisfying since they are difficult too. My question is what would you like from this game that Fromsoftware should take notes in their next soulsborne game. For me something they do right is managing the way you can keep using fable arts or your legion arm. To many times I didn't want to you use my arm in sekiro because of how limited the consumables were and I think this game let's you have fun with all that without limiting you as well.

2024-01-30 13:08:30 +0000 UTCHey Allies, This week, Avowed game director Carrie Patel told Eurogamer that the game would not feature romance options, citing that in order to do romance options well, it required a lot of effort, and additionally, it is difficult to balance the work going into romance options with that outside it. It is a significant challenge to write a campaign, featuring narratively woven companions, which is equally fulfilling regardless of the relationship choices of the player. Personally, I welcome variety in the RPG space, and it's great to hear a development studio give themselves a hard scope for their game, but it is also difficult to argue with the reception of these mechanics. I struggle to think of highly successful western RPGs in the last decade or so that didn't feature some sort of romance mechanic. Many would attribute Baldur's Gate 3's recent and vast commercial success in part to its commitment to weird and wonderful romance that the player can engage with, especially among more casual players who don't usually play RPGs. I'm curious to hear the panels thoughts on Romance options in RPGs. Is it important enough to pursue? What are some examples of romance done well, done badly, and how might you like to see Romance mechanics evolve and innovate over the coming years? Love and Respect, Harrison

2024-01-30 12:43:17 +0000 UTCHello everyone! I'm writing this before this week's State of Play, so I'm presumptive in thinking there will be a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Trailer, and demo availability imminent, if not already out. With being a month away, I've already decided I'm taking an entire week off work at the start of March just to play it because the hype can NOT be contained. So this has me wanting to ask: What has been the longest segment of time you ever dedicated to a first playthrough? I know this is a little skewed since you get code for games pre-release via work purposes all throughout any given year, but was there ever a time where you took days if not a full week away from responsibilities and even family just to fully lose yourself in a game? Thanks for taking this submission if you do and stay Easy fellow Allies!

2024-01-30 00:37:21 +0000 UTCHey Allies! One of the underrated additions to The Last of Us Part II Remastered is the ability to switch to a mirror mode for all areas of the game. The mode also mirrors the characters to be either right or left-handed, adding to the immersion for those that want to see the way they interact with the world reflected in-game. I first played The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess on Gamecube with the guide for the Wii version, where everything is flipped for Link to be right-handed. I remember it being a fun brain exercise of translating everything I was seeing in the guide to be mirrored. In hindsight, I find it a bit strange that even though both right and left-handed versions of Link and Hyrule exist, you can't choose between the two. This seems like something that should be an accessibility feature that could also add to future playthroughs of modern games. What is a game each of you would enjoy playing or revisiting with a mirror mode?

2024-01-30 00:31:54 +0000 UTCHello Allies, I love lost media, whether it be an old TV show that got lost to time, and video game that never saw the light of day, or demos of popular songs that are stuck on some old cassettes. One of the most recent discovers was an americanized version of Gundam called Revolution, that got me thinking about what could have been. My question is this, what are some lost media that you all either have a fasination with that you also wonder what could have been, or media that you remember that has now become lost?
